This is for all those who think Steve Vai is just another shredding rock guitarist. He is simply the best guitarist on the planet and an amazing composer. Bravo!
Yep, he is the Best!
Can't wait to see him for the 5th time this November in Detroit....as a guitarist myself, this man has been a huge inspiration 🤙
GOAT. If you understand you understand.
@@scrap8930 how was it?
@@Omar_E11Awesome show. The guy still brings it, and that was actually the second time I've seen him live. He was about 25 years younger the last time, but I enjoyed this just as much if not more. ...Steve is still an incredible composer and showman 👍
Eargasm at its finest.

My Wifey and I got to meet you Steve after your concert at the Moore Theater in Seattle in Sept 2007..you were gracious enough to come outside and chat it up with us for quite a while...loved talking guitars and tours with you it made my whole year!!!...and thanks again for signing my OG Passion and Warfare cd and the poster that came with it...Loved your work since the Zappa days...
His tech is a guy named Thomas Nordegg who lives in LA. Awesome dude. If there's a way to hook anything up, he will hook it up. He can dim the lights in his apartment from his guitars and he has THE biggest damn pedalboard rig in his living room. Just a truly awesome guy. And he truly loves the tech gig. He's also doing Guthrie Govans guitars right now.
@Chairman Meow why?
Not "Norgegg", his name is Thomas Nordegg.
@@sagnikpaul1811 thank you for making me aware of the typo :)
What blows me away about all of these virtuoso guys and gals is *not* the fact they have the technique and skill to play the notes.... but the fact they actually *wrote* such beautiful and wonderfully complex music in the first place. Playing it 99% note for note live is equally as jaw dropping. Thanks for the vid !
Steve Vai is absolutely brilliant. An inspirational guitarist.
This song put tears in my eyes the first time I watched Steve Vai playing it. Beautiful!!
The whole song tells us the story of live, obstacles, struggle, passion, freedom, love...and not a single word was said.
Thank you Mr. Vai
Perfect,I am listening from lots of years and dealing with cancer by the help of Steve Vai
Most guitar players are straight technicians of their craft but Steve is a composer first and uses his technique to make his compositions shine
A truly exceptional piece from an exceptional musician. One of my favorite Vai pieces. Fantastic!
Melodic sense! Dynamics! Originality! In my opinion, the greatest guitarist of his generation. Simply astounding!
I think this is the best guitar solo of all time, maybe only made once every 100 years. Steve Vai goat
I've listened to this solo about twenty times, today it broke me emotionally, I'm sick of controversy, Steve Vai is the best guitarist ever, this is the best guitar solo
I used to listen to Steve Vai when I was a teenager. Now starting to fall back in love with this beautifully talented man and his awesome unique style all over again. Thanks Steve for doing what you do.
It's really amazing, right? Rediscovering an artist
I'm diving deeper into metal, technical prog, etc. Stev Vai is amazing.
@@arunkarthikma3121 I've actually been looking up some older songs, Free bird, War pigs, Aerosmith, dream on ect. For a long time about 5yrs I 2as living on a Island in Queensland called, Russell Island. Although in the front part of the Island where the shops were it has internet but i i lived down the other side where I had no internet, no radio signal. Even watching tv was hard getting channels especially when it was windy or bad weather. I felt so disconnected. Now I'm back on the mainland and basking in endless styles of music. It was beautiful and peaceful living on Russell Island but so far away from life. It would be the perfect place if you were retiring and wanted to fish all day. Which I do love to do but so far away from family and friends. Especially missed my music. Now I have a huge device called a Neighbor Hater and I love it loud.
Steve: Genius is a very small word to describe you.... There is no words =)
he's a guitar mystic
Wizard!
So much emotion in this song... I cannot wait until I can play this... my heart races and my palms get sweaty just thinking about it.
Some random person: How touching can a song possibly be?
Steve Vai: Yes
Not only do I think Steve is a great guy in person.. in real life.. I think he's one of the best ever Plus.. he took his natural talent then WORKED on it.. worked on it hard and continues to. He's as much a composer, writer as he is a player, performer. which.. in itself is incredible. Bless all the good that music can bring!
I fell asleep one evening listening to music on my phone and I woke up to this song playing I swear, I thought I was flying in a dream until I looked and said to myself "self..I had no idea I had this song in my phone. Now I got to hear the original. I had no idea this was a cover.😮❤
YES.
This really is so beautiful, I can't believe the magic in this piece. It's breathtaking.
Ja
this is what you show people when they say Vai has no feel and just plays a million notes per second. truly amazing and emotional and the orchetra just helps everything. definitely my favorite version of the song maybe my favorite song but i didn't fully apreciate it untili heard this video. One of the many reasons i love this man and his music
It's not just the million per second notes and the lack of feel (Gilmour has more feel in three notes than Vai in 300), it's his tone, that sounds crap, and the fact that he doesn't adjust his tone along the tracks. He always sounds the very same
@@manuelpedrosd 😂😂
I hardly saw people dare to talk about Steve except a few like the winner we have in this comment section
@@aghoriguitarist the composition is uninteresting and crap, the playing is unexciting, he looks very uncool while he is playing it all over the place
@@manuelpedrosdfirst of all what the hell, second of all this wasn't written by Steve Vai, it is a song by John McLaughlin and this is a cover
This man is the only guitar player i've heard in my whole musical life that plays with such emotion and feeling and passion that it makes you tingle just listening to it. Steve Vai is, by far, the most amazing guitarist to ever give us the joy of listening to his soulful music.
Never fails to get me goosebumped. Imagine having such creativity and capability to realize it. God bless Vai!
Oh man, after seeing Steve play a few weeks ago I appreciate him so much more. The guitar is, obviously, without peer, but oh man.... his personality. He cracks me up so much now that I saw him in person. The cheesiest, 70's hair metal/sexytime faces + oblivious pompousness + dad jokes.... it's hilarious....
Beautiful. Just so beautiful...
I love this song. And this performance was Heavenly.
STEVE VAI - Awesome man, great music! Amazing song!
VO Y And quite modest man, normal in communication etc.
like everyone else already said. this isn't an act he has this much emotion in every video. don't disrespect the man. he's richer than all of us and has many albums when you have as many albums as him and you're featured on tracks with famous people then talk shit
I saw him this summer in the G3 European tour with Satriani and Morse. It was an amazing experience. Steve changed my life.
This is so Beautiful !!!! I LOVE his style. It warms my heart to see such incredible talent. I thouroughly enjoyed every minute.
Let's not forget the part played by the Orchestra elevating this performance
What I appreciated most about the orchestra is that they didn’t overpower or take away from Vai’s 🎸 playing and the sound, putting him in the background and hardly heard!
greatest guitar player ever. their are alot of great guitar players but steve vai takes the cake and frosting.
Finally heard Steve Vai !! Im here in Carle Place 40 years (Priscilla Bauerschmidt) and heard about him. Fantastic sound.
Steve Vai is the opposite of a poser. He is a consummate artist who has the will and the ability to play exactly what he feels. His imagination and technique as a guitarist is unparalleled. And he will out-genius you any day of the week.
By far the BEST guitarist EVER
This tune is outstanding Steve I play your songs on guitar, I get close to tears everytime I play this , God Bless ya
That cicular vibrato technique is exquisite!
OMG the passion in Vai is beyond anything any other musician on this planet has in their little finger
I started crying when he started playing...
Steve's ear for notes is on full display here. He's bending notes on the fretboard and with the vibrato bar and matching them flawlessly with a perfectly tuned orchestra. I am in awe.
Stunning 💫
3:54 brings water to my eyes every single time I watch this video...
Nobody can convince me that david gilmore has a more emotional solo than that
One of the most emotional passages in the history of music
Same bruhh
My favorite guitarist. Mr. Steve Vai
@@umutonuralppolat9352 both are great. Gilmour mostly compliments the lyrics & the entire theme of the song, while choosing some really emotional notes & ambient yet loud tones. But I must say, Vai is in another league, he's a f God of Guitar!
Every time it hits 4:52 I feel his playing and tear up...no joke
goosebumps
Lol same
I saw him in G3 back in 1998 and he saved my life. After being suicidally depressed for nearly a year, his performance snapped me out of it. Changed me forever. I hope I get to tell him someday.
You just did. 🙏
Low notes balance out high. I do not know. You are the master. Study martial arts for45 years. God bless you brother.
2:52 And suddenly, the guitar becomes a saxophone.
Steve goddamn Vai, man.
Best sax solo of the history is on 2 : 07 here: ua-cam.com/video/V04gI80aou4/v-deo.html
Buckethead and Steve Vai.. My Idols!
Caio César that are mine too ❤
Caio César mine too ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Steve Vai is bucket head.
Same my man as a guitarist i cant stress how good they are
Me too man. Vai, Buckethead, and Marty Friedman are my heroes.
This piece of music reaches far into my soul and gives me peace and wisdom;one thing it still does to me: it brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it.Simply beuatiful music, thanks Steve.
oh it does the same to me too except I think of selling my guitar too
It is arguable that Steve Vai may not be the best guitarist to live but undeniable he's one of the BEST guitarist to watch live!!! It could be in large stadium or a TV station stage, his passion and consistency while performing is just AMAZING. I was fortunate enough to watch him perform in a small pub years ago & I vividly remember how he blew everybody away.
Listen to this song, it will brings you to outer space for for 7 minutes 10 seconds and then back on earth. The always amazing Steve Vai
we can not name this Magic !
its called music. REAL ACTUAL MUSIC
Yes you can. It’s name is STEVE VAI.
AMAZING AMAZING,,,,,,!!!! I am shocked . THE GOD OF GUITAR , FULL OF SOUL AND SPIRIT , FULL OF EMOTIONS , FULL OF KNOWLEDGE AND TALENT.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THAT UNIQUE VIDEO. I APPRECIATE THAT . I HOPE STEVE VAI TO BE WITH US FOR MANY MANY YEARS GIVING US THESE GEMS OF MUSIC . REAL MUSIC FOR EXPERIENCED LISTENERS AND MUSICIANS. ,!!
Una de las interpretaciones más dramaticas que he disfrutado. Simplemente aterrador y mágico. Increible. No hay palabras. Un gran abrazo desde El Salvador.
I saw him in november and it was the greatest experience i have ever had!! I really hope for you that you get to see him live. I need to see him again, otherwise my life will not be complete.
shredding is the name we as humans gave to fast guitar playing, but music is something god gave to us, like steve vai.
crazy man... i like you when the first time to listen your sound of guitar..
Me like the comment of you
***** i like when it did it like his guitar of it can be nice
Steve has so much swag in this :D
I love Steve. He is amazing in so many ways. A true gift to music. Some of his stuff is unbelievable and is out there, but if it wasn't out there it wouldn't be him.
Every single note he produces has a meaning to him, even those we listeners may find out of tune or not in place, which is why you will rarely see Steve improvising his compositions as opposed to many others who stray from original including Joe Satriani respectfully. Steve is simply another level composer and had he played a violin or piano several centuries ago he would probably be considered as one of the greatest composers ever.
Better and better every time I hear it. So sweet, so lovely... The very definition of 'gorgeous', right here.
The best example of modern day "classical" music. I am convinced that future generations with look at Steve Vai as we look at Beethoven and Bach.
Pura poesia ..che non ha piu' ricreato da anni ormai ...peccato..
Este hombre...!! Logra lo que muchos no podemos.. tocar con sentimiento y con una limpieza excelentes.. :D
One of my favourite Vai performances. Just sublime.
Encore une fois, il n'y a pas besoin des mots, la guitare chante les paroles avec les doigts et les mains magiques de Steve Vai !!!!
Throughout the time on earth there always has been a perfect living master of spirituality
attracting all manner of human beings from the superb masters of the guitar as we see and hear today , Steve would give all credit to his guitar teacher, his parents and of course to his spiritual master. The state of outer expertise is a reflection of the inner love and devotion and practice a disciple has for the love of his master, he love of the instrument, love of the creator at His lotus feet.
delicadeza, profesionalismo ,simplemente hermozo
Feelings
Steve vai is incredible, he has the ability so say with his body what he already is saying with the guitar, i love that, it's what makes him complete
he is the coolest guy on earth, he signed after a show one of my friends guitar just because she asked him to do, usually you have the oppurtinity to talk with him, so go on!:)
Ele é uma lenda viva!
Steve Vai sta rigiglando il zuo beggio! Avede gabito???
Ho il microfono aperto?
...fffffiiiiiiiih.... Weeeee!
Ok, Guthrie is a freaking technical martian... but Vai is magician. He's at a higher level.

Emociona, desce lágrima, conforta... único! | Emotional, tear down, comfort ... unique!
2016 here!

From Ukraine!
qe genio por favor!!
O! Lotos feets is only from Sri Krishna!
In ancient Puranas sad " Lotos feets of Sri Krishna save from illusion of this world"
Chant Mahamantra Mr.Vai & be happy!
(c)
Don't make "hinduistic" sects propaganda, OK? You have no knowledge of real meaning of the term "lotus feet" and its origin. It has nothing to do with India and hinduism! This term stems from ancient China ! BTW it's rather very bad custom of making women foots very small binding their foots! Sing your "hare krishna" yourself at your home!
I have to correct you. Yes it's a terrible thing done to women. But the term is older than that. In chinese mythology lotus plants were thought to be the feet of a celestial being. Therefore Lotus feet are the feet of god. Later the term was also used to describe basically the deformation of womens feet.
CaptainBohnenbrot Thank you for the additional information. Yes, I agree
This is best vai's performance ever.
For THIS piece maybe, but I 💕 Vai’s For the Love of God, Whispering a Prayer versions too!
I prefer to tender surrender, building The church and for The love of god
Wonderful piece ...
