Can you explain how I achieve this 1/500 strobe sync speed with my OM-1? I have the mini flash trigger (manual flash trigger) but I can't seem to get it to that speed. Is there other settings I need to set in order to do this "hack"?
Thanks for the review! I was surprised by the comments on white balance using video. I just bought an OM-1 after having great results with the OM-D EM1ii (see my channel) using their white balance features. I contacted OM about the issue and they responded that the white balance features are the same for OM-1 and OM-D EM1ii. Of course, with good video lights, it is all less of an issue.
We probably won't do a full series for this camera, though we may do more videos about it in the future. You can always feel free to give us a call or send us an email at info@backscatter.com for any personalized settings recommendations!
For a wide angle wet lens, such as the AOI UWL-09 Pro or Nauticam WWL-1B, the 14-42 EZ (www.backscatter.com/Olympus-14-42mm-f3-5-5-6-EZ-Lens-Black) is one of our favorite lenses. There are other options as well, but the size and cost of that lens makes it a great choice. If you would like a quote for your setup, give us a call at 831-645-1082 or email us at sales@backscatter.com.
Color would improve with lights, however, you are restricted to shooting subjects that you can light, so nothing too large or too far away. If you can reach out and touch it, you can light it.
Hi, there are several options to house an OM-5 camera underwater, and we can certainly talk options and best lens setups based on your needs. Give us a call at 1-831-654-1082 or email us at sales@backscatter.com and we can put together a setup just for you.
@backscatteruw, a nubie question: could you pls shed some more light on 1/500 sync speed hack? Did you try it using a flash sync unit and sync cables or by use of fibre optic cables and camera flash? Thanks
A really compelling camera, and that's coming from a D500 shooter. What I find quite bothersome is the serious bulk of the Nauticam housing for this camera. It feels like you're losing a lot of the space savings on a housing that isn't optimally designed.
Thanks for the video and OM System camera review!!

Great review. One thing to point out is that the OM1 has a high resolution mode which works handheld for 50 Mpixels.
Great video, thx. Definitely considering transitioning to the smaller camera as I am getting tired of lugging my 5DM3 rig around.
What a nice video! Thanks!

Can I know how to pre set the tracking auto focus?
Great review on the camera.. thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼
Will you all be coming up with a video on the best settings for this camera as how you did with the TG6?

Would the video work better with video lights

We achieved 1/500 using the Olympus FL-LM3 flash unit and fiber optic cables.
For big crop printing Gigapixel is your saviour. Worth having look.
do you ship the gear to china?
Absolutely!

The Nauticam is larger than the AOI housing by comparison, but it's still quite ergonomic and practical.
You forgot to mention that this camera has a high res mode that will allow you to shoot 50 megapixels handheld or 80 megapixels on a tripod.
Is it M.Zuiko 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 II R or M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ ??
It's the II R on this camera: www.backscatter.com/Olympus-14-42mm-f3-5-5-6-R-II-Lens
Dude I should have waited before buying the a7VI. The lenses are so expensive
That's definitely a factor when comparing full frame vs micro four thirds cameras. Let us know if we can be of any assistance!
