    I have Bluesound Node 2i and also 3x Pulse Flex 2i. To be fair, i think this speaker is essentially designed to be used as a multi-room speaker. Maybe they are being cheeky marketing the portable capability? I find them really good quality and would recommend them if you want to extend your sound around the house. My Node 2i feeds through my stereo amp in my living room so I can really appreciate the sound. But in my kitchen or home office, I am happy with mono. I guess it is whatever makes you happy.

    Thank you so much for doing the soundtest including something instrumental/classical-ish sounding!

    You missed the point, this is a hi-res systems’ speaker that Work as a Bluetooth receiver. Is meant for hi-res streaming like tidal ...not Spotify. True about the price, the Bluetooth is actually a gimmick

    How is the latency with a 3.5mm kable? I want to use them for my pc

    I have one and like it quite a bit. But, I think it only makes sense if you have other BlueSound devices and want to integrate the Pulse Flex into an existing system. I would not own this as a singular unit. Seems the Bluetooth is just an option included, certainly not the primary reason to buy it.

    It was designed to be the network speaker, but unlike Sonos it can be connected to you Hifi. When setting up initially you have to connect it to your router via Wi-Fi or ethernet cable not just because of Blue OS but also so a latest update could be downloaded.

    It has an Analog 3.5mm port, that doesnt require internet. You could plug a record player/phono preamp into that, no internet required. It's one of the main reasons people should consider Bluesound over Sonos

    • @thisrocks
      @thisrocks 4 роки тому +1

      It's exactly why I'm considering it. I have a turntable in my room and a headphone amp because space and positioning is at a premium but I also have my old Node 2 in that system and a Node 2i and looking at this tiny thing and hearing it has good sound. Gonna have to let Bluesound rip me a new one to get a couple I can place in my room. Going to assume the "audio/optical in" works like the Node 2+Node 2i where if they are grouped the sound come out at both endpoints.

    Having problems with a setup with 5 pulse i mini units deconnecting.
    In wifi, does it work in a mesh system ?
    Is there a wifi booster like the sonos boost available ?
    From what i understand it's *not* mesh and there is no similar signal boost system....

    • @markwagner1997
      @markwagner1997 2 роки тому +1

      It is a wi-fi speaker, not a mesh access point. It requires a decent wi-fi signal.
      I have 3 Bluesound devices.. 2 speakers and a Node streamer, all connected to my Google mesh access points. They work great.
      The Node streams into my hifi system and when needed, can stream perfectly synchronized music to the 2 speakers that are elsewhere in the house. You have the option to use any or all speakers as one sound system or independently, should some want to listen to something different in another room.
      They are pricy...but they are bi-amped, have excellent sound quality for their size and they contain a full featured streamer and DAC...something that sets them apart from plain wireless speakers.

    To be very frank Im not certain you understood what this speaker is prior to purchase (or donation). It is an auxiliary speaker meant to flesh out the larger whole, like the Sonos Play:1 and One speaker, but quite *much* more flexible. You can stereo pair a set as u jkow, but I'm not sure this speaker ever was what you imagined. Bluetooth speakers are convenience only IMO.... If one is serious about music, they are not the answer.

    This speaker is the low budget solution for a complex hifi multi room system to bring music in rooms with low quality claims like your guest toilet. You can not compare it with for example jbl extreme bluetooth speakers for your outdoor scenario. These jbls and co. are dumb systems with only one assignment: playing music from your phone. This Flex 2i is way more than that. You can arrange it in your Smart Home system. But it is a total complete system at it self. It’s a streamer as well. No phone needed. You will never take it with to the beach. Maybe outside to the terrace - that’s why they offer a battery additional. Normally it’s inside where you have wlan and power. For all bigger rooms you will take the larger components (pulse mini or pulse )or in wall or ceiling speakers... So this Flex 2i is a 350$ part of a 20-40 thousand $ multi room arrangement.... and for that it’s great!

    I have the Bluesound Node 2i and the Pulse 2i speaker so my existing Hi-Fi and Pulse can play multi room. This works a treat, but I have to say you’re not wrong about Bluetooth. It’s unworkable, and so I turn it off. Bluetooth doesn’t matter to me because I have it working over the internet but if I brought it for that purpose I would be pissed off. The Pulse is ok but not great. For the sound, it’s over priced. £699, should be £499.
    The software is a mess, laggy, slow and clumsy. However, once you get to know the quirks, it’s actually quite powerful with lots of features. Bluesound need to fix Bluetooth so it workable, upgrade the software so it’s responsive and either improve the sound or reduce the price by at least £100. That’s my opinion.

    Wish the exterior is not the rubbery type with chance to become sticky over time. Coz I just can't continue to use one of my speaker box with rubber exterior after a few years it kind of disintegrated and became a magnet for dust.

      Roo's Views well now it was expensive! 🤣 Ours is on everyday, but I did buy with a mind to buying more of the entire ecosystem. So far I’m happy. And yes I agree it’s not a Bluetooth speaker. It’s wifi dependant and that’s exactly what I wanted.

    Dear friend, please pay attention to the differences between APT-X HD (in this speaker set) and APT-X LL (not in this speaker set). The rest of your review holds water. And one more thing, for the money, APT-X HD (that means roughly 48khz) its pretty outdated by the more potent Sony's codec LDAC (96KHz)

      With reference to the first comment in this thread, I didn't say in the vid that it had APTX-HD or APTX-LL. I just demonstrated that the latency on my unit was slower than I was accustomed to on my other APTX products. AptX is normally around 300ms but I was getting between 500 and 700ms.

    Boy did you miss the point entirely. This is more than a Bluetooth speaker. It’s made for whole house system for a small room for background music not for your main music room. I have a vault 2i connected to my main stereo playing through my McIntosh preamp for my music room. I have a pulse 2i in my living room and will most likely get this for my office. I do not sit in my living room and listen to music seriously. That I do in my music room were the Vault I is along with a VPI turntable.
    Like I stated above boy did you miss the boat

    • @Roos-Reviews

      I did mention the wifi capabilities. What is it you think I missed? You mentioned "the point" and "the boat" but I'm not sure what you mean.

  • @mychildrenareashamedtobese3398

    Mobile bluetooth is such a secondary use of these speakers. It's an add on so you can grab and go with your home network component rather than having to buy one speaker for home and one for mobile. The primary purpose of this speaker is home wifi audio and you didn't test it that way. Your review was incredibly frustrating. How was the lag on wifi? How was lossless streaming (something bluetooth can't do)? How did the multiple wired connections function?
    You were so obsessed with what this speaker can do at a cookout you forgot to bother with what it does where it will be used 90% of the time at home.

    • @Roos-Reviews
      @Roos-Reviews  Рік тому

      What I said about the Bluetooth function was true in my experience. When a $20 speaker has more reliable Bluetooth than a speaker 20 times its price, I'm going to point that out. I don't think "but its wifi feature works well" excuses the poor Bluetooth performance of a wireless speaker marketed as being of exceptional quality and performance.
      On my channel I look for flaws and point them out so buyers know what they're getting. And I was personally very disappointed with the Bluetooth on this.

    • @mychildrenareashamedtobese3398
      @mychildrenareashamedtobese3398 Рік тому

      @@Roos-Reviews I totally believe what you said about the bluetooth function of the speaker. If I cared at all about bluetooth I would look elsewhere. But many buyers of this speaker, myself included, don't care. Bluetooth is a lossy codec and I avoid it at all costs. The blusound app is solid and allows for a host of hi def streaming services. Why didn't you spend any time on the speakers primary function as a wifi streamer? It was like half of a review.
      After watching your video, I have no idea one way or the other if the Pulse Flexes are good streamers. That is why I was frustrated.

    Bluesound produce good produts… until you have to upgrade their software.
    Bluesound releases software updates without any care… and when something goes wrong they never assume the error.
    Technical support is very weak.

    • @PaulWarrenEaton
      @PaulWarrenEaton 4 роки тому +1

      Issam Rezakamel yes it is a mono mix of both stereo channels. But if a small portable speaker does have a pair of stereo speakers in the same box you still miss out on the true stereo experience. So if really wanting stereo in any system, buy two. Yes it then gets expensive. I have this Bluesound speaker and love it. I don’t miss not having two of them. For general listening in a kitchen it’s perfect!
