@@themoroccanpianist8953 For me Arrau is great in Brahms & Beethoven but I don't like his Liszt, too much cerebral and a lack of spontaneity... Cziffra was an hungarian gipsy like Liszt and nobody has better grapped Liszt's tought than him... and had the incredible technique to make it alive !
I heard Cziffra in public several times, it is useless to mention his astonishing and unique technique and virtuosity, but he had a beautiful and poetic sound, and this video testifies it.
Dang how old are you now? If you attended his recital before? Did he have that powerful presence when he played even more when I can feel it in his playing from these old videos
I can't put it better myself. You hit the nail on the head. Young pretenders like Trifanov still have a long way to go, to be mentioned in the same breath as the absolute legend that is, or was Gyorgy Cziffra. My favourite pianist !
@@bludika His stage presence was astonishing...every concert was a triumph, he needed some time to warm up, usually at the beginning he was a bit controlled and prudent, but each piece was more confident until reaching e complete "virtuoso trance" at the end. He had a typical way to end slow pieces, raising his hands and looking at the audience as to say "that's it!"; he was very tired in his last recitals, he didn't want to play any encore, or just one.
It was a beautiful performance that made me cry. It was an antique performance where you can feel the serious attitude of Cziffra's music. His calm appearance is so nice and lovely. He is an immortal pianist.
Coincido.

By far the greatest Liszt player ever
Agreed!
I respect you opinión, but that's all.

I can only wish I heard him live, I was born long after he passed! You don't know how lucky you are.

Please read biography of Mr. Cziffra And you will like him even more.

Beautiful interpretation. Thank you.
This piece is never going to be easy in general. Lol. As usual, Cziffra made it looked easy. Wonderful as always.
Encore Merci Georges.
hungarian plays hungarian masterpiece
Greatest pianist of the 20th century
Legend!
One of the Greatest! Pure hungarian tradition: Liszt-Thomán-Dohnányi-Cziffra.
I love his interpretation. Amazing. Thank you!
Amazing performance, Maestro ! 🌹
Beautiful
it was cziffra and the others
Ive never heard it played like that!
2:08 ❤
thanks!
The best interpretation
Cziffra is good. But I really think that title goes to Lamond/Sauer.
Sir Franz is the best!
Merci beaucoup !!!
Hi
Merci
Cziffra
Coincido.

Anyone know what piano he's playing on?
Steinway and Sons Model D. You can see the length and the logo in several shots.

1:20 that man really did a vibrato😂🎉
I see Seong Jin cho also sometimes doing it whats the point of it?
What composer on the picture?
You mean the picture behind at the beginning. That’s Liszt as a child. I don’t recall when it was painted
I never heard Cziffra play something beautiful.
you heard him play something bad?!

Rubinstein plays it more beautifully, with a more beautiful sound, with far greater nobility.
I scrolled down for someone I could agree with, and found you. You got it right man!
Rubinstein couldn't play as good on this piano.
Cziffra carries Liszt own spirit
Everyone a style of his own.
Nobility is the problem. Rubenstein it’s cold and stiff
More like Liberace plays Liszt. Awful.
