He was a beautiful artist! Small note- the second piece played here is a song by Chopin known as "the maidens wish" .... Transcribed for piano by Franz Liszt.... Wonderful to be able to see this... Thank you for posting!
Egek!
NO WAY, NOT MONTE CARLO! HE SPEAKS TO THE PUBLIC ON HUNGARIAN AND THE PUBLIC ANSWERS ON HUNGARIAN, TOO. THE RECORDING WAS MADE UNDER MAGYAR RÁDIÓ 3, LATER CALLED AS BARTÓK RÁDIÓ.
I'd look sickly too, if one of my children died in a fire. I'm happy he got back on track again after a few very difficult years for him personally. But you can see the pain in his face as he plays. Hope he's reunited with his son in heaven ! He's a good man who deserves that.
@EasyListeningLounge - I think this might be caused by a SECAM to PAL/NTSC video transfer. When I transferred French SECAM videos of famous French pianists to PAL in the early 1990s they used to end up in black and white, which was a pain in the b*tt, as I recall.
This video was most likely shot in color, but the fact that it is now in B&W, may be the result of a SECAM to PAL/NTSC video transfer. When I transferred French SECAM videos of famous French pianists to PAL in the early 1990s, they always ended up in black and white, which was quite annoying as I recall. The French like to develop their own technology early on (Minitel, Secam, Airbus, Phonautograph, Baguette), but they don't always manage to set a global standard, unfortunately. Just like Canada with its square wheels! 😉
Köszönetem minden egyes felvételért. Cziffra György játéka örök szépség.
If someone invented a time machine and I were allowed only one trip, I would go back to 1978 to hear Maestro Cziffra play.
Jim Hall for me. The sermon on the mount.
Me too! 😊
I would like to go back to 1963 when I had the honour to be his pupil!
Please take me with you!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a man ! makes me want to cry

Such a privilege to be able to experience this fine artiste, despite him no longer with us.
He makes the music"sing!" Amazing finger independence. Lyrical and great musical sense of style. A true and great artist.
my left ear really enjoyed this.
Quel magnifique exemple!

És mit mondot a közönségnek? Csak a végét hallottam: " ... Jó lesz így?" és a közönség nevetett...

Amazing!!!!
Grata por este precioso vídeo. (Malu / Brasil)
Second piece I knew I have heard and realized it is a song :D the name is "the wish"
What a wonderful, wonderful musician! Remember what Horowitz had said: "I want to be Cziffra!"
Poor man. He looks sickly. The fire in the belly is fading quickly. He still has the music in his fingers.
Michael Rosen yes, i was thinking that to. No parent want to die after their children. Let alone the cause be by suicide.
@@itsjustnopinionok the cause of death of his son was a house fire

The second piece is Liszt/Chopin Chant polonais
This video is taken from 1986 Tavaszi Festival in Sopron, not his last public recital (in Nov 1989).
@EasyListeningLounge I have this recital video from distinct source but not in color.

Mounstruo del piano, QEPD maestro.
the second is a chopin-liszt polish song. forgot which one. maybe the maidens wish or something like that.
it is
A Chopin as I never heard. There is a Cziffred message here.
Genije !!!
That's not possible (Monte Carlo). He is talking to his audience in Hungarian and the audience obviously understands him.
Laura Lukács how do you know? You know Hungarian ?
Alon and Guy Ostrun Lukács Laura is Hungarian, certainly she speeks and understand hungarian 🤪
György Cziffra was a great favorite of my grandmother.
E S P E C I A L Í S S I M O !!!!!!!!!
He was a genius and I think he played the best interpretations of Chopin's work.
From when is this last recording?
Monte Carlo is in Monaco ; )
Effervescent!
Thanks for all👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶😊💛🕊

Surely this was filmed in color in 1986?

Is this really his LAST recital as wittekjmusic indicates?
Mikori előadáse a Művészúrnak?
1986 ban...
What is the first piece?
first one is op 34 no 1, second one is op 74 no 1
The piano looks like a Yahama. In Hungary, the piano would have been a Bosendorfer. His hair looks like somebody else's.

Great playing. True art. Did anyone ever noticed he really resembles Q. Tarantino?

I went to two or three Cziffra concerts 50 years ago.
Wonderful technique and very nice music.
But after 5 minutes, boring.
Without any emotion.
You do not ned emotion to be great
