My mum has Alzheimer's. I put headphones on her and played her this piece, and she has been moved to tears all afternoon. she keeps saying; "I don't know how he does it!"
She saw Lang Lang in concert years ago in London and she has mentally, literally been back at that concert.
Thank you!
I’m sorry about your mom and this was a very wholesome moment
W
And tomorrow she don't know who you are.
Kind.
My Mother is dead. My father lives for now. He is 85 ages old. Pless him.
He left his soul on that interpretation. Awesome.
Manuel Tankian liszt you here?
Oh, so that's the reason why he doesn't play emotionally anymore? Now I got it!

Me alegro de oir esta opinion respetuosa y fidedigna de lo que acabamos de ver de este magnifico piamista, da pena que aqui se mezclen opiniones malintencionadas y obsenas que no van a poder ensuciar tanto virtuosismo!. ❤
I have never heard this played with so much feeling and control .
Badminton London yes definitely. his tempo is all over the place and his dynamics are retarded. yeah lots of feeling, lots of fake feelings like every pop song out there
@@holypeachy u clearly know a lot about music if ur comparing this to current pop music.
Lang Lang's version is beautiful but above all I prefer the master Rubinstein's version.
Hacker0_o his temp is out of place due to the use of rubato- which means to play without a proper tempo, or something likw that. It is often used in romantic period, and this piece is from the romantic period.
To those who play this piece, I doubt they will play this piece without the use of rubato
OhMyDog! School that’s what I thought
Jesus....this had me in tears. For me it goes back a very long way.....as a small boy maybe 6 or 7 hearing the neighbour play it in the evening. It struck a chord with me as music has been in my life throughout even though i cannot play any instrument. I'm 70 years old now.....in tears!!
🌹❤️
Should i start playing
Im 17
“Struck a chord” haha nice
Glad to hear.
I don't understand how you can dislike Lang Lang, he's a modern virtuoso
He is a ridiculous fool.
I personally don’t like the way he styles some pieces
I agree. Its pure jealousy imo. People that cant play anything criticizing someone for free virtuoso expression. Talent hurts.

Best interpretation of Liebestraum I've heard.. Pure of emotion and control..
Anyone else see like 90% of comments dissing haters but not actually any hate comments
I think the worst of them are removed (maybe all?)
Most of the comments are from years ago when the video was published. They're now burried under hundreds of other comments
@omar garaali this is some weird dissception
@omar garaali nice
if a man has ear cannot diss , naturally
I don't understand why he gets so much hate!!! His interpretation was beautiful and what about his expressions? I think he was just really touched!!! Seriously who considers his expression when he's playing something so beautiful??
Yeeun Kwon And they all forget, conveniently or not, that Liszt was a showman of superlative repute in his day by all accounts.
they are trying to find stupid excuses to snipe this performer. idk why. for valentina lisitsa they go like 'she is fucking best' and for lang lang they are like 'he is fucking shit.' even though lang lang is way more skilled than valentina lisitsa.
You have to understand that Liszt had a lot of hardships that this guy never faced, ergo, he does not have nearly enough background to know how to play the piece with full effect. It’s not the performers fault, especially if they don’t have time to research the composer.
I personally, don’t like his interpretation but I’m not here to judge.
Phil G A showman? What do you meam? I am very interested in knowing more :)
A very animated performer, but no doubt that he lives and breathes this music from his soul. I know people sometimes make fun of the facial expressions and gestures, but can't deny his brilliance! I close my eyes and hear a virtuoso at work here, so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes :-) BRAVO! ~Jackie
Which brilliance? Listen to Artur Rubinstein - that's brilliant with the same piece! :P
Cut the freaking elitism.
MusikPiratCH Subjective who thinks is brilliant.
So Rubinstein is brilliant no one else can be? Got it
@@MusikPiratCH bich pls
So gentle and full of emotions. How can he sound so colourful. So many different sounds that he plays the piano like a string instrument. Close your eyes and enjoy. Incredible.
Yes so soft 2:10
Yeah 👍
@@Mereaux lol why you gotta troll
3:51 onwards is so delicate
Honestly, I've never seen an interpretation of any classical piece by Lang Lang that I liked. This is his first ever performance that truly left me speechless. He doesn't play it by the classical rules of interpreting a piece, he instead pours his heart out on the piano and makes something way more beautiful. Bravo!
Daniel S. Gleason so refreshing to see an open minded and objective Lang Lang critic, giving credit where it’s due.
I agree, having always considered LL to be rather robotic & metronomic. I am guessing that this song must have some personal meaning for him the way he caresses thru some of the notes.
the appassionata by Beethoven he also played well ..but I agree most performances I don't like either. But slower pieces he plays really touching. The fast pieces sometimes get messy and weird.
@@savanner.6525 He is very good with slow and emotional pieces, the other two that I like from him are Nocturne Op. 27 No. 2 and Debussy Reverie.
@@savanner.6525 some lang lang's interpretations of slow paced ones are also a bit overdramatized though
He enjoyed his performance more than us ❤️
Well you're gonna have to say that again after I listened to it.
not usually a lang lang fan but this is a very good interpretation of liebestraum 3
The way he executed the piece and the obvious passion in his performance made me like Lang Lang a little more
@@jakeflores2048 oh come on, his hand movements, his faces, everything was clearly exaggerated to appear more flamboyant and expressive before the audience. Not to deny that he is a good pianist, but I bet he'd be even better if he didn't bother paying attention to those ridiculous movements he makes.
@@lelouchlamperouge600u probably are not a highly skilled pianist, if u say this lol.

I've never heard such touch, just amazed.
if you don’t like his expressions, close your eyes and listen to the music itself. get over yourselves and appreciate him and his expert touch. music is only for the ears
@@richardvolpe7664 Interesting, so then I take it you must hate CD's, vinyls, audio of any kind that doesn't have a live player?
The only reason i like lang.lang not because of his talent but the way he feels the music , he breath it
He live his life while playing piaono
He is true ARTIST !!!!
Ashish k most people in their music career want to become famous artists, but they don’t even know how to be great musicians
He perhaps not breaths while he was playing, but he looks like if he was underwater diving without enough oxygen, but just in a very state of concentration !
@Chao Chao Liu I completely agree with you, preach... this may be a little offensive to other people.. but i feel like pop songs in our current day just is about getting clout.... the quality of the songs don’t matter anymore... just money and fame..
He feels every note that he is playing and so do I...so beautiful...

Liszt's Liebestraum is one of my all time favorites...and Lang Lang probably interpreted it in the best way possible! I'm a great fan!
If you actually love playing music, you'd understand why he makes the faces and movements he makes while playing. That's all I'm going to say.
Exactly.
Ezekiel Raven totally!!!!!!!
Mike Den
all pianists have different facial expressions
So true
Juheon Lee yup you’re right
The way he plays this song makes me cry!! He is 100% connected to the melody… every single note of this song. He’s incredible.
The lead up from 2:50 to the chord at 2:58 literally gives me chills every time. This whole piece hits deep i dont know how else to describe
Why, I've never found Lang Lang's facial expression bothering me. I usually listen to music with my ears, not my eyes. And my ears tell me he plays it heavenly.
Beautiful. Definitely the best recording/performance I have heard by far. Lang Lang puts so much genuine emotion into his music. The run at 3:08 is often times played harshly and fast, but Lang Lang plays it most delicately. Absolutely Beautiful.
Feeling pur, only Lang Lang is able to perform Love dream this so fantastic.
This is the only version that made me have sorrow feelings on my heart. The soft touches that he made is unbelievable.
I don't agree

Another lang lang simp.
This piece is one of my Liszt favorites, beauty and emotional. Masterfully interpreted by the way.
It’s in my playLiszt for sure
Regardless of the argument whether he overdoes his expression, a blind person will love his interpretations more than anything. Perhaps, critique like most of you shouldn't rely on sight. After all, we absorb music through our ears right?
Exactly.
Very well done! His playing is full of feeling for what the piece is all about. He pours out his heart when he plays.
I just dont unterstand what everyone hast against his facial expression. If you dont unterstand his expressions, you dont unterstand the music.
If there's one thing I learned from marching band is that people have a tendency to listen with their eyes more than there ears sometimes.
I don’t look. I keep my eyes closed when listening to this beautiful music.
There is a good reason why the entire Hall stood up for him. He is exceptionally brilliant.
BRAVISSIMO!!!!! Only recently listened to Lang Lang. I was moved to tears! This kid could move Liszt to tears. AWESOME! Thanks!
His movement added to my emotions. He is one with the music.
This legit made me cry
I darely say no word can define 'Love Dream' more than this playing
The first thing i did when 2019 arrived - listen to Lang Lang play Liebestraum
So beautiful!!!
Lang Lang is for those who listen with their hearts, not with their minds or eyes
I was not really one of his fans - until now. He must have been very inspired while playing this version.. the melody phrasing from the very beginning on is very moving, absolute perfection, total concentration. Good job, Lang Lang..!
Unconditional individual expression...that is the true definition of art. A ludere--a play of life.
This wonderful man touches the soul when he plays the piano. A musical genius. He brings tears to my eyes. Simply beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ watching from UK xxxxx
There is none like him alive today. A gift from God. I had the exquisite joy of hearing him play in Berlin (a year or so before the pandemic) and it was a transcendent experience... Thank you, LOFTmusic, and thank you, Maestro Lang Lang! Thank you to your parents, and all your ancestors, in fact!
Your first sentence is true, but not in the way that you think (if you can guess my meaning). And "a gift from God"? One might say that's a little much.

His music is with sheer beauty. Lang Lang is a great pianist. He brought so much air into music. I felt really comfortable hear him playing.
I really love how slowly and softly he plays the first section
When I heard this song for the first time, I legit got shivers down my spine because of how amazing this song is!

Too wonderful - like flowing waterfall - so very beautiful. SO much feeling transmitting to listeners. What a gift to the world! gets to the heart and soul of all he connects with.
You are the best Lang Lang, exquisite performance.
Liebestraum, I've listened to so many times being played by different pianists of high repute - none of them gives more life to the music than this one. What a romance with the ivories...
I have tears listening to this. Unbelievably beautiful, every note goes straight to the heart.
I had the pleasure of seeing Lang Lang live with Herbie Hancock at the Royal Albert Hall. Best gig I've ever been to by far.
This music puts me in another time and actually makes me DREAMING ☁️
Sometimes he has tears in his eyes. I love his music. Listen to his Beethoven’s 5th concerto. Perfection. ❤️
Breath taking melody which is full of emotions and feelings that words can't describe, as if I came to a different world where peace reigns.
Just thank God we have this music in our lives, and that there are people in this world like Lang Lang who will sacrafice everything to be virtuosos for us. I wouldn't give a damn if he chewed gum while performing.
He’s playing the piano in the air, he’s playing it on his body, he’s playing it in his soul.
What a wonderful performance. It touches the soul........ I'm lucky to see this.....

BEUTIFUL PERFORMANCE. PLAYED WITH THE SOUL,
His chaotic and spazistic style of playing adds so much color to it and creates a whole new depth to the music. 2:45 really shows this and it’s just so spine chilling when he stops playing chaotic and suddenly plays sweetly
BEAUTIFUL! 😍😘❤️👌
Both Lang Lang and Franz Liszt were genii (geniuses). His facial expressions are those of a those of a true musician. That is how I feel when I play an emotional piece. There is nothing to make fun of. This guy plays with feeling. (Lots of it). Bravo! Bravissimo!
Does your 2nd sentence imply that all those other straight-faced pianists aren't "true musicians"? I've never heard a professional play this piece with no feeling.

Such a beautiful song played by Lang Lang. I love his Chinese red jacket! (or hot pink) Very gifted musician!! My dream is to go to Carnegie Hall and hear a wonderful pianist!!
i wonder if Liszt played this piece was just like this back then. Or maybe even more emotional... Amazing... 👏👏👏
Franz Liszt was known for his showmanship and outrageous piano techniques. People who commented on Lang Lang's facial expressions to be unnecessary forgot the fact that Liszt was also like this in the past.
I really love this. Full of emotion and justice.
