Seriously, is it just me or is Nick every bit as good as his Dad? Phil was a great drummer and obviously a great teacher and mentor as well. Nick has a great future ahead.
As a drummer myself for the past 35 yrs, it's refreshing to see that his son would carry on the solo in a musical situation, rather than just blowing chops of speed or technical proficiency, both of which he has anyway.. He can definitely say that in a mature way, much more than any of his peers..This young man is well on his way to becoming a household, world class drummer..
Agree 100%. His eldest son Simon is also a great artist, Both solo and with Sound of Contact. One hit away from being a major star. Check out his songs "Powerless", and "The Big Bang" with Phil, which is basically a studio version of Phil's classic Drum Duet. Fantastic! He also did an awesome cover of "Keep It Dark". Hoping Nick follows his dad's AND his older brothers lead.
Actually in an article I read Phil did not teach Nick how to play the drums. Nick said his dad ( Phil ) was self taught and that his dad couldn't teach him...
Phil Collins is such an accomplished musician himself... watching this.... I imagine his greatest achievement is supporting and helping create his amazing and incredibly talented kids. Wow.. even I'm so proud just to be watching this. What a pleasure to see. Also.... here's Phil over here just casually tapping everything insight with pure ease making these incredibly ordered and timed vibrations... wtf. Master much?

Man I LOVE it! So awesome to see magic Phil's son stepped in his fathers shoes. And damn, he's just as good! It makes me cry to see the great Phil Collins suffering from illness. This guy was my youth hero!
I wouldn't go that far, but he's a pretty good drummer. That said, he's got a lot of time to get even better. Phil Collins was a monster on the drum kit in the 70's, and I'm not quite seeing that from Nic yet. No disrespect intended, Phil is a tough act to follow. Few can.
Nic Collins is a BADASS!! Maybe a different style drummer as his father (every drummer is different, even Jason Bonham is unique from his father John) but every bit as much of a powerhouse with full control over his assets and he can play all of Phil's parts to a T anyway. Also just like his dad, he does a fantastic job jamming with other drummers/percussionists at the same time.
Nic definitely has his incredibly talented father’s musical gifts. He’s obviously worked har too to be that accomplished at such a young age. So nice to know we will have another Collins man hitting the drums for years to come. Thanks for sharing.
I read a story about Nick going to drum lessons in America. The tutor might have guessed it was Phils son with the name. Imagine the pressure from then on in eh
Nick are any of the live shows likely to appear on a DVD release anytime soon and also with the superb news of the reunion Gig scheduled for later in the year here in the UK for all the Genesis and Phil Collins fans out here who have been very long term fans for me about 35 years and counting! Nick is an awesome young drummer and has his fathers DNA .. love his use of double kicks too which Phil never used ( to my knowledge anyway) ... he has an extremely bright future ahead of him thats for sure
He, the producer that kept the camera open on the percussionist may not be doing these kinds of videos ever again. He was probably the same guy who filmed Ozzy during the Randy Rhoads guitar solo. Love ya, Phil. I've loved you since Iwas 10 and heard, "Follow You, Follow Me" with that voice of yours, and now I'm huge fan of Nick's amazing work.
Nice that the best drummer I've seen live for many years is Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr's son and it looks like this young man takes the profession seriously as well.

A great drummer can give the drum solo a "melody", if you will, without the aid of any other instrument or backing track. I find this the case to be with young Nick. I hear melodies, rhythms and danceable beat, with this playing. Impressive!
