- Nic Collins is no stranger to a challenge. From being thrust into the spotlight as a 15-year-old kid playing with his dad (Phil Collins) to just wrapping up a tour alongside his dad and legendary drummer Richie “Gajate” Garcia, he is developing into a formidable artist in his own right.
Nic is consistently challenging himself with different styles, time signatures, and as Richie says, “He’s only beginning.”

Phil Collins smile in this clip is totally priceless.
I love Phil, he's been the most important influence on my drumming. It really broke my heart when he had to stop drums. Seeing him enjoy playing with Nic is so heartwarming.

A very impressive young man if Phil Collins says you're good enough that's good enough for me. Phil is a master drummer with Genesis but the stuff he was doing on the Peter Gabriel records changed the sound & style of drumming forever.
Great drummer and seems like a cool down-to-earth kid. Very mature as well. Phil must be very proud. His band 5800 kicks ass as well.
Love how snappy the 8 and 10" toms sound
The key is the Remo Diplomat heads! Phil always used Diplomats on the 8" and 10" in his days, but Nic is using it only on the 8" tom which as he described gives that distinctive crack.

I just love to see Phil!! now his son Nic is incredible and Richie is too cool. For someone who does not know the technical side of music, is really a treat when certain things are explained and when you hear the "Behind The Scenes" comments.
I visited that Tour 8 times and every single time it was special to see! What an amazing Trio! 🥁❤️
