Until 2017, nearly 1,500 songs have taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest (not including the seven songs that didn’t make it in the 1996 pre-qualification round). In 2006, Ireland’s Brian Kennedy delivered the 1,000th entry to the contest, appropriately titled Every Song is a Cry for Love.
The best Irish entry of that decade. Beautiful, unassuming and totally enchanting, I'm very glad this finished in the top-10 like true quality always should.
In my humble opinion... Ireland's best entry of the 21st Century yet, beautiful gentle performance of a soothing class ballad. Fun fact: in the semifinal it was drawn to be the 1000th song performed at ESC! 10th was about right I say, see Ireland? It ain't rocket science, you can get a good result even through bloc voting. I thought I'd see a few comments here mentioning Una Healy of The Saturdays as a backing vocalist
Every song is a cry for love Every voice can rise above So don't be afraid Just show what you're made of Sing it out. Every Song is a cry for love Every day is a brand new start Every night you could fall apart Any time you doubt The truth that's in your heart Sing it out. Every song is a cry for love Being strong, being tough Never tender always rough It was never enough for me In the dead of the night Only love can old you tight Sing it out. Every song is a cry for love Every kiss is a call for home Every touch means you're not alone You don't always have To make it on your own Sing it out. Every song is a cry for love Being strong, being tough Never tender always rough It was never enough for me In the dead of the night Only love can old you tight Sing it out. Every song is a cry for love Sing it out. Every song is a cry for love Sing it out. Every song is a cry for love
My collagues told me, she thought it sounded like Denmark's ESC song from 2011, "New Tomorrow" by a Friend in London. And I reminded her of this one came years before
Despite the low marks, Brian Kennedy performed very well. Ireland at Eurovision was very strong with its beautiful lyrical ballads, which is why it won so many times there. In vain these afterwards they refused these songs at the competition.
Sam Galea Ballads is what Ireland knows best in Eurovision. So i'm happy they finished 10th. Not to mention this year they weren't ignored. Maybe not a winner but in thier last grand final they finished last. Thier best result since 2011.
Despite sounding like 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord o my soul ) - Matt Redman, I like this song and the fact that the people were swaying along with it proves how good it is and well deserving to be in the top 10
His recent news interview revealed that he finds Eurovision as a waste of time. Eurovision does change as years go by and many people would share his sentiments, but I'm saddened by what he said there.
Nice enough song, but the song and the performance would have been more suited to Eurovision in the 1960s. Strange, because it was crying out for an anthemic build-up and a massive key change, which never really came. That said, best Irish entry in the last 25 years. Nice to see his Dad in the backing singers.
Probably my all time favourite Irish entry. Comparable only to 'Hold me now' and maybe 'The voice' . But not the last good one. There are also 2015, 2010, 2017, 2007, 2014. Ireland is being robbed lately.
@@DentalFlan Agree, Fyrom's song that year is my least favourite Macedonian entry so far, while this masterpiece from Ireland is my third most favourite Irish entry (After 2015 & 1970)
Fitting that Ireland recieved the opportunity to perform the 1000th song.
Woah really? That's awesome! Yeah it's pretty fitting :)
And now Mea Muller performed the 2000th song
@@o-b-1 That also fits as that song was quite bad, and the song that opened in 2000 was Israel's Ping Pong x)
One of the most beautiful songs in whole Eurovision history.
One of the most underrated songs ever in Eurovision history!
It was 10th.... 10th is pretty damn low still.
@@DentalFlan Oh, really? I didn't remember that it did that well. There were a ton of great songs that year after all.
He gave a great performance that year! Memories..
Ireland must be very proud for Brian!
He's so great singer and his song.
TheGoaBase yes he would be second Johnny Logan
So much more proud, as Brian K unite Ireland by representing the republic: he is from Belfast.
Nah, he's fecking smarmy
@@MsErikdeking we didn't ask you
@@TheGoaBase but he is though
Lovely melody from Ireland! Excellent performance! Deserved top 3 that year!

So great i votedd for this
so beautiful song
I thought it would be ironic if my 1000th comment on Eurovision would be on the 1000th eurovision song so here I am.
great song i voted for it.
Una gran balada con una gran voz irlandesa indiscutible¡de lo mejor de 2006¡
Me encanta esta canción. 10º puesto en Atenas.
I don't really like ballads...I rarely like ANY...but this song changed my perspective on slow songs...I still love it 16 years later.

I love how Ireland uses green, orange, golden white and golden yellow lightings in Eurovision stage ❤🇮🇪
after 11 years, Ireland in my top 1 again with Brendan♡
Brendan Was Great And His Song! I Loved That Entry From Ireland! I Wish Ireland To Send Him Again!
The second best ballade from Ireland after Ryan's one of all 21 century
This song deserve more views.
Amazing song and voice love it

For a ballad this is pretty catchy!

Yes the best song tha year and my favourite song greetings from greece ireland
My 2nd fave that year behind Carola
@@IzayoiArwena Yes!
No, it was not. But it was still good.
Hands up, how many thought this song would finish tenth in the grand final? It's impressive considering all the up-tempo songs.

Happy St. Patrick's Day.
one of the best songs they have sent, only 2015 and 2018 songs are better.
Why hello Una Healy!!!!!!!!
who's listening in 2022? one of my favorites 😍

1:01 I just saw Una Foden
Brian nice love you
Now that's how its done .
Too soppy but still one of the best entries that year.
when ireland was ireland
Wow! What an amazing voice and song. Ireland should've won.
He was on The Voice of Ireland last year right?
I'd almost forgotten we put this song into the Eurovision. Pretty sure there was a reason for that...
Should have been the 8th victory for Ireland.
Very dated song.... sounds like 80s song !
Félicitations.
2021 🌤️
Thats Una Healy from The Saturdays as the backing singer 😊👍
Sounds like Loch Lomond
10 место

Una healy
He was sent to prove a point a good singer will get through not about politics....I'm writing this as the UK came second in 2022 would have won aswell
The last good song Ireland had.
Probably my all time favourite Irish entry. Comparable only to 'Hold me now' and maybe 'The voice' . But not the last good one. There are also 2015, 2010, 2017, 2007, 2014. Ireland is being robbed lately.
I can’t believe people are saying this is underrated, this song is absolute pony 😂
More like every song is a cry for help.
how this pass to final and poland belgium no wtf :(
Mikros Oneiropolos And Andorra:/
Poland and Belgium were crap Thats why
Because Irish songwriters know how to write a good song - hence why they've won the ESC more times than anyone else.
Blame it on Fyrom for Poland not passing, not Ireland.

ZzZzZzZzZz....
a litle bit
Hopefully number 22: Carola can wake you up.
Just wasnt strong enough melody and cliche lyrics, same problem as “millenium of love” & “dying to try”
Cliché
The most boring song ever performed at Eurovision?
