RANK10YGO [Rata] Hey, I know you likely got your own schedule, but I was curious if you’d be willing to do an Archetype Archive of Dark World. I was given the structure deck as a gift back in middle school and I’ve been collecting and maining them ever since. Just curious to here what you think of my boys of the Dark World. Also thought this was worth mentioning: I usually have one or two of Fabled Ashenveil in my deck, and one Shadow Delver. I like to call my deck ‘Gallant Darkness’, because I like to think that all those Fiends in my deck want to be good guys and just happen to look a little scary.
I wanted to try the ritual blue-eyes deck, but I can't read the name of the synchro monster or the link monster second from the right. Is there a decklist somewhere that I missed?
imagine this: you are on 500 life points, your opponent is on 3400. You have no monsters on field. The only card you have in hand are a chaos form and a blue eyes. Your opponent has a measly board of a face up defence position armed dragon lv 5, a face down and ojama yellow. It really shouldn't be a threat, but it is lethal. You need to draw something, anything , and believe it or not, you topdecked chaos max. You breathe a sigh of relief, as you ritual summon it and attack into the armed dragon earning your hard earned victory. But, on attack declaration, your opponent flips metaverse. ''mystic mine?'' you think to yourself, ''but I have less monsters than him''. but no he plays something far worse than that something that should have never seen the light of day he plays ojama. fucking. country. Your chaos max's attack and defence are switched, leaving it with zero attack. It attacks the armed dragon lv 5 and you lose the game, as your soul is sent to the shadow realm, leaving you to farm sand and in ojama country for the rest of eternity.
Trivia time: Blue-Eyes White Dragon was the first card to ever appear in the manga. It was also the main plot point of the very first story about Duel Monsters: Kaiba, who owned no Blue-Eyes at the time, stole Grandpa's Blue-Eyes and had to play a Shadow Game of Duel Monsters for it. Yugi won when the Blue-Eyes killed itself rather than attack Yugi. Yugi then used Monster Reborn to revive Blue-Eyes and attack for game. Kaiba's Penalty Game was to hallucinate that the monsters were killing him. This duel was the first ever featured in the franchise. It had no holograms, was played on a table like any normal person would, and the monsters were actually coming to life as part of the Shadow Game. This duel inspired Kaiba to create the holograms that all future duels would use. The duel is also notable as being the only duel where Yugi WASN'T using his Grandpa's old bad*** deck. This means he didn't have Dark Magician and his best monster was Summoned Skull (which, according to Kaiba, was "one of the five strongest fiends").
It's so weird to go back and read the manga if you've never watched season zero or started with the second anime series, but the manga is really good. That duel was fantastic.
Agreed. On another note, I always wondered how Summoned Skull feels about being replaced by Dark Magician as Yugi’s strongest monster and being relegated to a supporting role while Magician got the spotlight in all future stories. At least he can brag that he was created before Dark Magician.
I remember playing back in the day when Summoned Skull was unquestionably better than Dark Magician. GX was still new, Synchros weren't a thing, and archetypes weren't even really a concept beyond a few cards that worked with each other rather than whole decks of mutually supporting cards that we see today. I stopped playing around that time, so watching Rata's videos is how I've been catching up on the current state of the game. It's both nostalgic and educational.
@@1Korlash I mean, around that time, Dark Magician already had cards like Dark Magic Curtain and Skilled Dark Magician to make Summoning the guy less of an absolute chore, and the latter's status as a Level 4 1900 beater made it a decent first turn monster if you didn't feel like putting a wall face-down. But yeah, Summoned Skull is actually hilarious in how good it was back in beatdown meta.
I love the Ojama Lime skull in the background, that is either proof that there are Multiple Ojama Limes or that there were at one point and ours has gone full "Alas Poor Yorick"
Actually the skull is from the artwork of "solidarity" which shows the five ojamas holding hands while surrounded by skulls corresponding to each head of every ojama shown in ojama country's artwork that isn't a monster. When you actually read into this artwork it's actually legitimately dark as it seems to imply that ojama country was destroyed by some kind of event and the five "actual" ojamas are the only survivors. It's actually pretty chilling...

I burst out laughing at the Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon. The fact that the Blue Eyes archetype's big boss monster a bit ago was about making sure NOBODY summons a bunch of monsters in one turn is hilarious to me. The fact that that effect made the Blue Eyes deck top in the world once again just makes it even better. 15 years to come full circle.

To bad they didn’t make cards to make blue eyes shining dragon easier to summon because a level 10 dragon that gains 300 atk for each dragon in the graveyard and has quite effect negation effect that’s not once per turn should not just be for collective reasons
I like to think that Zigfried Von Schroeder makes the bad Blue-Eyes support and Kaiba yells ZIGFRIED whenever a new bad Blue-Eyes support card comes out.

This episode in particular was perfect in every sense of the word, it got the details right, it was funny and it was simple enough for beginners to understand. This is why rata is best yugituber!
If there was ever a *king* Spirit Dragon was designed to assassinate it was KING CRIMSO- Legit though, that YTP was great. Especially with all of the hidden in jokes for yugioh veterans and MatthewMatosis wanting to gun down PSY Frame players and Toon Change Slime being called the strongest monster in the game
Arcana Force has the dishonor of being a Legacy of the Worthless archetype. He reviewed it a long time ago, but who knows, Sartorius will eventually come to Duel Links, so maybe it'll get supported at some point or a bloated Field Spell like BES did.

That's why I run the ritual variant. The key pieces are stupidly easy to get to, Knightmare Iblee works as an otk enabler, and on a good day, the deck can shit out multiple copies of Chaos MAX like it's nothing.
fun fact: Chaos Max's effects are based on the flavor text of vanilla blue-eyes. it's pretty much the flavor text translated to actual card effects, 1 to 1.
This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible (Effect destruction immunity and high attack), very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale (Blasting a defense position monster is going to do major damage. NOW THAT'S A LOTTA DAMAGE!)
See, its flavor text like this that convinced 7 year old me that Blue eyes was supposed to be some type of robot dragon. I thought It looked metallic and had engines.

I just hope neos keeps getting cards like nebula neos, fusions that cripple your opponent when they leave or fusions that work like the gladiator beast's fusions, and a reprint of honest neos that makes him be treated as neos in the hand/field/graveyard and that allows his effect to work with the neo spacian and heros, also more special summoning conditions/cards for this archetype
fun fact: blue eyes white dragon is technically a girl because a woman saw a person who cared for her die, her anime protag powers activated, aand then, her soul transferred onto the dragon that was sealed into her. *LORE!!!!*
something worth noting about rampage with eyes of blue, you have to banish a card from your hand, field AND grave, and apparently using mystical space typhoon on rampage itself while you have no other cards on the field makes it fizzle, since you aren't able to banish a card from the field. so you gotta be REAL careful using it in the early game, if you insist on using it.
looking at Blue Eyes Solid Dragon, i just now realised that its wings are duel disks and it''s name is an homage to the "Solid Vision" System that duel disk had in the manga
Okay, Train Boy, here's something you probably didn't think about. Maiden's second effect activates with ANY targeting, including your own. So you can summon Protector, special summon Maiden, activate Protector's effect and now you have 2 Blue Eyes on the field
I miss when you could summon a lot of extra deck monsters without the use of links. Konami just HAD to butcher the previous four summoning mechanics (don't really give a shit about pendulums, though) just so they could force people to buy their damn cards.
Key thing to note about Neo Blue-Eyes: it must be your only "face-up" card for the triple-threat attacks; if you can remove any other face-up cards you have by either destroying them yourself or ramming them into your opponents monsters (if you can take the damage), you can get that 13500 damage hurtling towards the unfortunate soul opposing it. Additional bonus if you can call out Deep-Eyes should your opponent somehow manage to get over it by battle (like with Honest) and leave your opponent with another 4500 ATK dragon to deal with.
Hey, don't diss Pyramid of Light! I have a fake Sphinx Telelia who'd disagree! Also, "IT IS NO LONGER TIME TO DUEL! NOW IT IS TIME TO DIE!" automatically invalidates any dissenting opinion.
One of my favorite and most played archetypes, a reference to one of my favorite bands, and an overall killer video. This was a really good watch, I enjoyed every minute.
A note about BSOD: In the GBA game Yu-Gi-Oh GX Duel Academy, the card was bugged that allowed you to use it regardless if there was a Blue-Eyes or not. Which was handy since every duelist in that game had Jinzo which was a gigantic pain in the cock.

You could still summon more than once. You just can't summon 2 or more at the same time. The joke doesn't work.

fun fact: Chaos Max's effects are based on the flavor text of vanilla blue-eyes. it's pretty much the flavor text translated to actual card effects, 1 to 1.

something worth noting about rampage with eyes of blue, you have to banish a card from your hand, field AND grave, and apparently using mystical space typhoon on rampage itself while you have no other cards on the field makes it fizzle, since you aren't able to banish a card from the field. so you gotta be REAL careful using it in the early game, if you insist on using it.

Key thing to note about Neo Blue-Eyes: it must be your only "face-up" card for the triple-threat attacks; if you can remove any other face-up cards you have by either destroying them yourself or ramming them into your opponents monsters (if you can take the damage), you can get that 13500 damage hurtling towards the unfortunate soul opposing it. Additional bonus if you can call out Deep-Eyes should your opponent somehow manage to get over it by battle (like with Honest) and leave your opponent with another 4500 ATK dragon to deal with.

A note about BSOD: In the GBA game Yu-Gi-Oh GX Duel Academy, the card was bugged that allowed you to use it regardless if there was a Blue-Eyes or not. Which was handy since every duelist in that game had Jinzo which was a gigantic pain in the cock.
