I was just thinking the same thing. I'm new to her channel and it's hard to stop watching her videos. I don't have any family that lives where I live. And I feel like Ms Lori and Mr Brown are like family. I can be feeling down and watch one of her videos and I'm smiling and feeling all warm inside. I would love to be their nieghbor.

Your tea cup for measuring flour reminds me of a story about an elderly neighbour who used an old red teacup for her flour. She eventually decided to sell everything after her husband had passed several years. She was throwing out the old cup when the auctioneer notice her doing so and suggested she add it to the rest of her household contents being sold. Ha,ha.... that red cup after many decades of use in the flour turned out to be a rare find and brought hundreds of dollars alone!

When I add oatmeal to things like meatloaf, cookies etc. I put my oatmeal in a chopper and chop it up fine. That way it’s absorbed quickly into the other ingredients and liquid. I have found this to be a wonderful way to do it.People might not be able to see the oatmeal yet it’s still in there. It’s still flavors

I’m from Deep South East Ky and I love watching you reminds me of being home growing up, parents had 10 kids and we lived the old way momma had a wood cook stove till the day I married and that was 1980 so really not too long ago. I love watching your channel because it reminds me if how I grew up. Thank you! I must say, I've never seen a jar or can of ground artificial cinnamon in my life and I've been baking for 60 years. I've researched this and the ground powered kind is always real. I started with oatmeal cookies at age 9. We never had measuring cups or spoons. I used silverware spoons and tea cups and eye balled it. Our cakes and cookies always turned out wonderful.

Ok it’s so amazing to me how alike we are. I’ve been making a loaded oatmeal cookie for years. I add whatever. Sometimes dates or cranberries. I save the crumbs from bran cereal and throw a handful of that in sometimes. Then they go on my good ole pampered chef stone pan. I make mine a little different tho. Can’t wait to try yours out. Looks like a recipe my mother would love, I'll have to try!
I have used Ghirardelli chips for a rather long time (their brownie mix is awesome, especially the 2 box cookie dough brownies). I won't and haven't used anything by Hershey in many yrs.
My elderly mother (a Certified Herbalist) is the crazed online shopper.. She found bulk supply food stuff dealer on ebay by the name of, The Amishman w/ hundreds of items. We first tried a few smaller orders of spices & dark chocolate chips and very pleased!
We are IN Farm Country folk, tho we are FL dwellers now. Mom lived in Bentonville 4 yrs after moving back to the States from Australia, and wants to go back to the Ozarks. We do our best to support Local Growers and such ppl like The Amishman. Non-gmo, farm raised, organic as much as possible, even w/ sweets.
After a 1 yr study (13 yrs ago) of the way the average American eats, I have a rather long lists of Corporations, mainly of Monsanto products, I refuse to buy.
TY & God Bless you and Mr. Brown for all you do! Always smash that "Like" button. Just another cross-eyed binge watcher since I found you, ha!

I have two old chipped tea cups. And I use them frequently!
I grew up in a Southern Baptist Church. We learned about and gave our nickels and pennies in the Lottie Moon offering envelopes each year.
As an adult, I learned more about her. She did not speak Chinese, and yet that is where the mission board sent her. So she used her tea cup to measure the ingredients to make her tea cakes. Then she went into the street where she found children at play. Somehow through her plain and simple cookies, and her friendly personality, she was able to get a child to introduce her to his or her mother. That led to her learning to communicate, and eventually lead others to Christ. I love the Little Moon story. My husband's grandmother, whom I credit with finishing my raising, since I was 18 when we married, gave me her tea cake recipe! My family loves them.

I love those kind of cookies. Oatmeal is awesome! I don’t care for the crasins I use raisins. I got my recipe from my mother n law probably 40 years ago. It calls for lard & coconut. Don’t always put the coconut in. My son is having a hog butcher & I am getting the lard, so excited! These cookies are soooo good! It also has cinnamon in it which I love. But I think I will try yours the next time! Yes I love my cookie scoop. One of the best kitchen tools I have purchased! Yes I noticed some of the ingredients were off. Ok Miss Lori, I made these, using the list of ingredients you put in the description. I couldn't figure out why they were so dry and didn't flatten out, so today I double checked the list with what I'd written down; then replayed the video, and figured out what happened. In the video, you added 12 T. Of oil, but in the description, you wrote 1/2 T. Of oil! I thought this was important enough to let you know, because I'm an avid baker and I knew something was off, because your cookies looked really good and I believe you just made a typo. I'll try them again when we get these eaten, because we don't waste food in this house, lol, and hubby will eat them anyway

I'm a new subscriber and watching your older videos which I'm enjoying. My mother who is 93 said her grandmother lived in your town! But I had to chuckle when you were talking about being a messy cook! I also try SO hard to be neat, but it's just not in me! haha

I never knew about stirring the hot water into the quick oats before you mix the cookie dough. I'm going to make your recipe. :-)

Linda's Pantry has a loaded cookie receipt and she soaks the dried cranberries in fireball whiskey. Yes cookies are my favorite and I start making them early for Christmas sometime I scoop them in to little balls {the dough] and freeze them. then bake them later.

I have a little convection oven like that that I use for everything. I have a vintage stove that the oven is small but true temperature it it takes forever to preheat. I always wondered about your little cup!

Miss Lori, these cookies look so good!! Thank you for sharing. I've been wanting a good oatmeal cookie. Can these be made without chocolate chips and cranberries? I like the extras, but I have family that doesn't. God bless you and Mr. Brown

Lori, seems there are a couple of typos in your recipe above. 12 cup sugar and 12 t. Baking soda can't be right.

She's says 1 cup sugar and 1t baking soda in the video.

They look like good old fashioned homemade cookies or biscuits we say in the UK. You looked a little tired in this video. Hope you managed to get your feet up after making so many lovely treats. I have a big bag of oats just sitting in the cupboard. I was going to make my husband a big batch of Flap Jacks then I saw this and I thought these cookies have a lot less sugar, well exactly golden syrup which is so sweet and very fattening. He's already got a little round belly so these treats I'm guessing are lower in calories which is a good thing but still a sweet treat. Thanks for sharing.

Sugar, Baking Soda and Salt amounts are off in your written recipe vs your vid. Did you know that you can enter your recipe & photo thereof data into "Just a Pinch' and have it store it, print it out, save it as a pdf, link your subscribers to it privately and or make it public to publish. It is a great lil web app to subscribe to. justapinch.com Oh, and I learned something about my cooking stone....never knew I could bake cookies on it. Heading off to the kitchen to make a batch....thxs for a great vid.
