Jan Molby was as natural a talent as Hoddle and LeTissier but he out-performed them both. 84-96! The best passer of the ball in some of the best Liverpool teams. There should be a statue of him outside Anfield. A true footballing legend.

Seemed so unique when he scored or passed, but must've set plenty of Goals or efforts up with the latter.

Everytime I speak to an 80s kid, they all say Jan was their favourite player. Not Daglish or Rush but JM

Have to agree on the subject of passing, Jan was among the best ever long passers. Funny thing is he was never crucial to the Danish sides of the 80s, suppose we had too many great players. Nah, it was a mistake when you look back at it, perhaps we could of won something important

Mølby broken his football in 1988. Then a new national coach came which didn't like mølby. That coach also drive off Michael Laudrup.

His passing and vision were superior to any player in the division as long as he was playing in it but even though he's my favourite ever player, he has himself to blame for his status in the game, which is nowhere near as high as it should have been. When he came back in to the team at start of 94/95 with Mcmanaman and Fowler running onto his passes, Phil Thommo said on Sky Sports "this guy should have run English football for the last ten years" and he was right; he should have, but didn't.

Do you things might have panned out differently if he hadn't been injured in the summer of 1987? I'm not sure if the plan was always to move Whelan into centre mid when Barnes was signed or if Molby and McMahon would have continued to be first choice. The way that season went, by the time Molby was fit he was unable to force his way back in, and seemed to be on the fringe of things for a few years, which was a waste.

@@DaveWallerLFC Jan's passing was made for Barnes I always though, so was a shame that they didn't play together much but, with the creativity of Beardsley, I think maybe Whelan/Spackman made for more balanced partners for Mcmahon. I think a midfield with Molby, McMahon and Barnes - with Rush and Aldridge up top - could have been rather sexy
