Sepultura - Arise
Obscured by the sun
Apocalyptic clash
Cities fall in ruin
Why must we die?
Obliteration of mankind
Under a pale grey sky
We shall arise...
I did nothing, saw nothing
Terrorist confrontation
Waiting for the end
Wartime conspiracy
I see the world - old
I see the world - dead
Victims of war, seeking some salvation
Last wish, fatality
I've no land, I'm from nowhere
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Face the enemy
Maniac thoughts
Religious intervention
Problems remain
Max cavalera: vocals and guitar
Andreas kisser: lead guitar
Paulo jr: Bass guitar
Iggor cavalera: machine gun
Derrick Green: The perfect replacement.
What Paulo ?

I honestly think this is a serious candidate to be one of the best thrash songs ever recorded.
I agree!
In my opinion, Sepultura's best song is Desperate Cry (From Arise Album as well)
It has very thrashy parts, awesome riffs, but it's longer, more complex, with a way better solo
But i agree that either Arise or Desperate Cry are some of the best thrash songs of al time
1504Shawn desparate cry is a really really good one. I agree that’s one of my faves by them. Everything about that song is amazing. The Intro for it is what got me. One of the first songs I heard by the band
You can never say for sure.
Definitely a serious neck-wrecker, thats for sure!
I think it's amazing that a Brazilian band managed to change the metal world so absurdly all of a sudden. Best band.
Dude the most heavy thing was Blackened back then, and they did THİS.
edit: All the things you guys said are way too underground. They didn't change the world. Sepultura did. I know Death, but they weren't famous until 1991 either. Did Slayer get famous when they released Reign in Blood? Then they can beat Metallica of course. etc. etc.
Metallica > Megadeth > Sepultura > Pantera. That's how it goes in late 80's to mid 90's for an ordinary metalhead
Justice was a heavy album for sure, but you had death metal bands like Morbid Angel recording in 88 and releasing Altars of Madness in ‘89. There was definitely much heavier stuff out around this time, but it was so underground. Also, the thrash community wasn’t too gung ho for the heavier music movement at first

Igor always seems overlooked when discussing the pantheon of great metal drummers, but he shows so much power, groove, speed and versatility on the first 6 Sep albums.
A truly unique, *hugely* underrated drummer.
Kakakakakaka
The only question on the table is whether he is better than Lombardo, and that one is purely preference IMO.
I'm 12
Here are my list overlooked drummers. In no order
David silveria
Ray luxier
Flo mounier
Igor calvera
Gene hooligan
@@Sinxytlol3 Do you know Mario Duplantier or Tomas Haake?
100% agree. Definitely a top tier guy that gets overlooked so often. Although there are probably better drummers out there Iggor and Lombardo are two of my favorites. They beat the drums like their lives depend on it.
That guy up on the cross is my dad, Ron Liles! 😊
Dayum. Must be nice.
Ronin3453 Hahah I mean, he’s just a regular guy! But it is pretty cool!
@@meaniemaelily the question is... does he like Sepultura though?
Ronin3453 Hahaha yes of course! He was great friends with the band mates too
Lol gtfo 😂 really? That means your Jesus's daughter.
The drummers for these bands are the greatest athletes in the world, lol.
+Seb Montez Dave Lombardo and Igor.Fucking mean!!!
Pete Sandoval!!! THE BEST
Good call
Check out The Violation by Fleshgod Apocalypse. The drumming on that song is absolutely insane!
You guys are for getting about Chris Adler
I was 9 years old, and the year was 1994; a beach boy residing in Batu Ferringhi, Penang Island, Malaysia, who lived in front of my house, gave me Arise's cassette to listen to. He asked me to quit listening to Nirvana and listen to real music and gave me the cassette. That started my journey. :)
Badass.
Happy Birthday ARISE
30 Years young. Still strong.
Greetz from Germany.
Listening it since 93... Still do...😁

Ich höre es heute mit 32 zum ersten Mal.
Großartig!
I’m a rock-fusion drummer. But I’ve always loved this track. Started playing double-pedal a little over a year ago and felt that I had to give this one a “short” try. So be gentle 😅😂
Nevertheless great fun!

Arise is one of the best thrash metal albums ever created.
Someone recently asked me; Thrash or Death metal?
I said ''Why not both?''
Love the way how Sepultura brings those genres into one big heap and dares to innovate.
I agree mr. Christ

1:44 this riff sounds like essence of metal music
I was just saying it sounds just like the same exact breakdown in their song off of Schizophrenia called "Inquisition Symphony".
Sepultura made everything we loved about metal sound earthy and professional at the same time.

This is like seasons in the abyss on steroids
Slayer sucks. Sepultura is a way better band
Paul Viscome bruh. Both are amazing
Slayer is amazing and quite brutal but compared to Sepultura sounds like kid music.
Season in the Abyss is a mastsrpiece.
No band can match sepultura's aggressiveness, brutality and perfect voice. Slayer is good but compared to sepultura it sounds weak.
Very few bands manage to be so tight in their playing yet so ferocious. The energy and angst is like a punk band, but some of the best technical playing from any metal band
Love everything Sepultura have ever put out, but Arise and Beneath the Remains certainly make me headbang more than anything else
Agreed. I lean more towards the Chaos A.D. album though.

Sepultura at their peak 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I strongly believe that us, as a metal community, dont deserve the Cavelera Brothers, they deserve to be on higher plain of existence emanating their riffs through the ultraviolet waves of the universe.....I'm a Lil high rn.
100%
Does anyone ever get so overcome with the sincere intensity of Sepulturas music that it brings tears to your eyes. I listen to a lot of metal for a long long time and sepultura brings out this anger frustrated part of me that is powerless to the grand whole of existence, and society’s cycles of hate and killing of each other that goes back to the beginning of civilization. It’s so genuine and raw it resonates with me to my primal core! I just feel like fuck it, I give up, pass me a gun I’m going to self sacrifice for man’s endless war.
Exactly, activates our primal core for shure!
I was crazy about this song when I was a teenager, so powerful, fast and that crazy-wrist technique to play the verse riff.. Fantastic! Love it! This was the real metal. Brasil be proud!

The best of the 90's right here.
