Thank you for this. Been using Descript for years and I needed every bit of this. I find Descript to be super buggy sometimes. But still my favorite video editing tool.
I just wanted to say a big thank you for your fantastic tutorial. As a beginner with the program, your video really helped me get started. Despite being short, you managed to explain the most important aspects clearly and understandably. It is so valuable to find good instructions, especially for a program like Descript. Your teaching ability and the way you presented the information were impressive. I have found the settings so that the program transcribes in Swedish, but unfortunately, it doesn't yet remove filler words in Swedish. Do you know if and when this feature might become available? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making it easier for us Swedish-speaking users to learn new tools. Best regards/ Anna in form of Digitala Zorro
Wow, thank you so much for your kind comment! It's comment like this that make it worth it for me :) Regarding filler words in other languages, sorry I don't know. I'd guess it's getting close since they just recently added the translate transcript functionality! Thank you for being here and let me know if you ever have more questions!
would someone like to tell me how to get my videos transfered from my android into Descript or even into Google Drive? I can't use any of these editing videos if I cannot get my recorded videos off my phone. I know it's probably basic to everyone but me. Please help or point me to some video. Thank you!
For Android, there is a computer app called Android file transfer to get it off your phone into your computer. You'll have to google it to find it and download it. For Google Drive, the easiest way to get files there is to have the app on your phone and set it to back up your photo gallery. I'll add this topic to my queue of video to make!
I've recorded a script inside a project. Now all I have is the audio, but I want to transcribe it. How do I do this? I can't find the option anywhere to turn this script into text?
Go to your project files, go to recordings, find the track you recorded, then click the three dots on the right side of the file name, and click transcribe
Really nice job with this video -- both teaching and editing. :) It looks like you edited it all in Descript? No Camtasia or other video tools? Are you finding it's reasonably manageable to sync up your audio with your instructions as you work through showing your desktop? I continue to find that tricky as I edit the audio and then I have a difficult time sync'ing the images exactly.
Thank you! Yup, all Descript for this one. Are you using Sequences? Sequences are a must for keeping tracks synced up and for this I had my screen and webcam and mic in a sequence so it made it easy to keep everything synced as I made cuts.
@@DescriptMastery That's a good suggestion. My plan though is not me talking (as experimenting with that was a bit of a mess), rather using an AI voice, which from my test attempts has been a bit involved. ;-)
Ah I see! Thats alot more complex. The best way is probably to write the script first, turn it into the voice, then add the video/images over the voice. But yea, you'll still have the problem of keeping it in sync
@@DescriptMastery I gather your way you don't write a script? (If you do, how do you work off a script and do things on your screen while recording?) Ok, I've been thinking trying to sync the AI voice is a pain because I'm a newbie, but your comment sheds much more light. I guess I'm going to dig out my mic and figure out sequencing then. ;-) Appreciate the feedback!

After watching a million tutorials including those by Descript, I finally understand scenes.... Thank you.
Glad it helped!

Glad it was helpful! And yea, i hear you, Descript has its nuances! It gets better the more you use it once you learn how to work around those bugs :)
Very good explainer. So good I will rewatch it.
Thank you!

Does this include the new (May 2024) Descript updates as part of the tutorial?
Yup! this is the new version

great video. need to learn this for work, and now I feel comfortable going in and getting more familiar with it.

Does descript allow voiceover kind of editing on the top of existing videos??
It does! It has built-in recording functionality so to do what youre describing, you'd just need to record your voiceover layer on top of your video
@@DescriptMastery I mean voice-over on the top of existing pre-recorded videos. Without using built-in recording mechanism.
yes, the built-in can do that. but if you wanted to use a separate tool, youd just need to add the audio file as a layer on top of your video

No problem! You can change your settings so that it will transcribe automatically but that's how you manually prompt it.
