Thank you for adding that! Yea templates are finicky and I find myself using workarounds like that all the time. Every situation and different types of settings will call for different approaches for using templates.

It does! It has built-in recording functionality so to do what youre describing, you'd just need to record your voiceover layer on top of your video

yes, the built-in can do that. but if you wanted to use a separate tool, youd just need to add the audio file as a layer on top of your video

For Android, there is a computer app called Android file transfer to get it off your phone into your computer. You'll have to google it to find it and download it. For Google Drive, the easiest way to get files there is to have the app on your phone and set it to back up your photo gallery. I'll add this topic to my queue of video to make!

Yea, I like Camtasia a lot for the preset recording settings and the fact that it does the automatic zooms and mouse clicks. But Descript is better for just about everything else. A few times I’ve made a recording in Camtasia then exported it to Descript to edit it from the transcript

What do you mean by manual comps? Are you asking about copying and pasting a composition into a different one? If so, it still works as before. If it's not, it could be because you're doing it with an AI speaker voice, is that the case?

@@DescriptMastery Creating a comp and then selecting a scene by clicking the scene thumb and pasting that into the comp only pastes the script, not the video. I did record the audio and video separately, so not sure if this effects it.

@@I_Mackenzie Gotcha. It should still work even if separated, that's weird that it's not....what about if you highlight the text in the transcript, copy it, and paste it into the new comp?

Hmmm, that's a tough one. There is a transcription glossary to add uncommon words like names. But, for what you're describing I'm not sure other than to make sure your audio is as clear as possible and enunciate your words. I'll do some research on this and see if I can figure something out. @@DescriptMastery Thanks Ross. I might just throw "and" in there and see what happens 😂. The "new speaker" script is very short - and doesn't seem to cover a great amount of language. Perhaps Descript should add a more accurate version with a much longer script. 👍

Are you asking about the metadata when exporting a project? I don't usually do anything with that. I usually publish directly to UA-cam for most things, and you can't change the metadata in that case. But what do you want to do with the metadata? If you let me know a bit about what you're using it for, I could make a video on this topic :)

Thanks for the content idea on the loom thing! And yes, if the video quality isn't super important, Zoom is fine. But it just reduces the video quality a lot, that's why pro podcasters wouldn't use it. But yea, lots to be said for keeping things familiar especially if it's not a very tech-savvy guest

The gold standard for text to speech is Eleven Labs but that has it's own subscription. I'm not aware of any good free ones at the moment. And yea, it's disappointing they limit the AI tools like that for the Creator plan.

@@DescriptMastery yes, and sometimes I’ll have things uploading from 3 different projects at once. Annoying because Descript screen share videos are awesome for client feedback or demos, but can take hours to actually load on the URL

No problem! I actually missed something in this video. From the Quick Recorder you can click the circle button next to the 'X' and that'll turn it into a circle too. Easier than what I showed haha

How did you know? haha yes it's the new Pocket 3. I only used it in the outdoor opening scene, everything else is my MacBook's webcam. But yes, you can use it as a webcam though you need third party software to get the 4k capabilities so I don't use it much as a webcam. I'd imagine there'll be a firmware/software update that makes it smoother

No, you can change audio to anything you want i.e. 0, +5, +30 etc. And no unfortunately, there is no way to AI-generate an audio sound effect yet in Descript.

I have just noticed that as well. Camtasia's prices are too exaggerated now with the yearly subscription. Anyway, the problem is that they are alone in the market for a certain level of requirements. I have just tried to use Descript, but I don't like it. byt he way, do you have any suggestion Eric? (Any similar software to Camtasia with Perpetual license. Not Movavi please :) )
