Probably a good idea to check out your 2hr tutorial. I'm new to Descript and not at all tech savvy. Editing and moving things around has been incredibly frustrating and strangely when I mimic things that I've learned from other tutorials it doesn't work or messes up other things. I "Undo" a LOT. Editing is my least favorite thing and I was REALLY hoping Descript was going to relieve the stress. Just impatient with learning the platform. Thank you for the help.
My pleasure! My original motto was "Descript is amazing, but frustrating. We fix that" so I totally get it! I also do one-on-one tutoring if the tutorials aren't cutting it
yes like every descprit video tutorial is made by folks from a place of knowing where it is assumed the viewer knows certain things. I would love to find one where it is assumed that the viewer knows nothing! I am on hour 3 of trying to figure how to do a split screen. Descipt seems more difficult than brain surgery or photoshop
@@PopRoxxRadio I hear you! I just released almost the entirety of my old course if you want to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/ICzifOdGgSk/v-deo.html Are you talking about split screen for a reaction video or similar? You'll want to check out the part of the course on layers
I just signed up to descript and need to learn how to use that sucker. It looks like there are lots of useful shortcuts. Thanks for the video. I subscribed, and I watch more.
Excellent! Welcome to Descript and to the channel. Feel free to drop any questions in the comments and I’ll help you there :) Descript has changed since I made this video so you may like my most recent tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/6BCJ3vwYhtY/v-deo.html
Glad I could help! Sorry to hear the frustrations with StreamYard. If you don't mind, what happened? I've mostly heard good things about StreamYard until now
@@DescriptMastery I love StreamYard and use it all the time; it’s just not good for editing the presentation type vids I did. It’s difficult to trim out small clips especially tiny clips like filler words or those few seconds when you pause to restate something. If they create a feature to edit the transcription like Descript it would be perfect.
@@MedicalAssistingwithMsK I see yea recording and streaming seems to be where it really shines! I'm sure it'll catch up Descript soon with it's editing features
Great tutorial, though I was hoping you'd talk about subtitles and how to unhide the timeline when hidden. I haven't quite mastered these features. Do you have any video on those?
My most watched video is a 2.5 tutorial where i go much deeper into just about everything. I also recently did this livestream where I went deep on titles and captions: ua-cam.com/video/1SvTPRPe_m8/v-deo.html Concerning unhiding timeline, its the button in the bottom left of the editing window. Is that what youre looking for or something more?
@@DescriptMastery The timeline area just went blank after I tried to hide the timeline for a bit. There was no button anywhere to unhide, guess I'll try again. But thank you for your response. I'll watch your Livestream video to understand more.
@@doreenyong1483 That sounds like a bug. The timeline should only have two properties: open and closed which you can toggle between with the icon in the bottom left (that says “show timeline”). Unless I’m misunderstanding, it sounds like something weird might be happening!
Are you asking about the metadata when exporting a project? I don't usually do anything with that. I usually publish directly to UA-cam for most things, and you can't change the metadata in that case. But what do you want to do with the metadata? If you let me know a bit about what you're using it for, I could make a video on this topic :)
I've enlarged the video on the canvas, but now I can't see the handles around the video. Is there a way to zoom out of the canvas so I can see the whole video. Not an animation, just view more of the canvas?
Unfortunately there's no zoom slide or anything like that. The best option is to use the Stacked view then minimize the scene thumbnails as much as possible to make the canvas as big as possible. And if you still can't see the handles around the video, you'll have to use the Size & Position settings to change the height and width manually
I can't speak from experience as I don't have a GoPro. But, I did a quick search and it appears it's possible. You'll need to connect it to you computer via USB then after hitting the record button, you need to choose the GoPro as your webcam. Hope this helps!
I’m convinced millennial pause is caused by the trauma we’ve had recording only to find the first few seconds is lopped off due to buffering or something.

@DescriptMastery thanks for sharing that!
@PopRoxxRadio glad I'm not the only one to struggle. Good thing is that once we do learn how to do it, it will be in the perfecting. We can do this!
Learned some new things to make editing more efficient. Thank you.
Happy to help!

Depends on what's causing it but the first thing I'd try is re-transcribing it: ua-cam.com/video/gj5qFMc1R-4/v-deo.html
