that device you saw at 8:45 is a tumbler/polisher. they are usually used to polish rocks, but I'm betting they are taking broken pieces of colored glass and making glass beads with it.

Roy Rogers, my childhood hero! I think I watched every episode, every movie Roy, Dale, Pat Brady, Bullet & Trigger ever made. Trivia: Alfalfa from the little rascals (our gang) ended up as a dog lover and trainer, and he trained Bullet. He was also in a few episodes of Roy Rogers show before he met his young demise.

Eric! You were close to the Roy Rodgers museum in Apple Valley [or Victorville]. It is outstanding. See Roy's old T. V. show outfits & you realize he was a tiny man. His horse Trigger is there--stuffed--and he looks like the smallest horse I've ever seen. Roy was from Ohio. He was never a cowboy; just an actor. I loved him & Dale & Gabby Hayes. U can see the old jeep, Nellie Belle, too. The Rodgers family never lived on a ranch; they lived in
a sub-division. Everybody knows I suppoze they were Christians & they adopted about a
baker's dozen of kids [I can't remember how many]. B. T. W. I love, purely love this vid.

I follow quite a few "Travelers" channels and I'll have to say that the concept that you came up with ( turtle's pace along famous route) is truly original and possibly ground breaking. Very cool idea :-) I grew up in the 50s and never missed an episode of the Roy Rogers show. My family bought our first television in 1952 largely so that my brother and I could watch the show. I still have a framed autographed head shot of Roy :-)

Helpful tip - when petting a horse, put your hand lower down by his muzzle - they will smell it and then you can pet them. You were going straight at his face and that's "aggressive" to a horse - they can't see directly in front of them, so that's why he kept pulling back. This trip is starting out GREAT!! At minute 9:42 I thought you were going to say, "Well, whatever it is...it's doing it" (I think that your phrase?) I love how relaxed you are on this trip...the beard might get scary...:D

In peach Springs, AZ, you can stop at the Hualapai Lodge and get a permit to drive Route 6 to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Mesquite Springs Campground is about half way down. If you want to stay in the Diamond Creek Campground, down by the Colorado River, check the road conditions. The last little over a mile is in the Diamond Creek bed and depends on it's been plowed sense the last significant creek flow.
    Happy Trails!!!

YAY! Jax cam is back! Taking him for a walk reminded me of being in Arizona and letting my little one out of the camper to walk around on a leash. Burned her little paws because I didn't realize hot the ground was (not that the ground was too hot for Jax, just the landscape reminded me). How do you think he'd be with some kitty Air Jordans ;) ?
