I'm from Hattiesburg and a guy was trying to tell me that I should get the YETI cause the RTIC doesn't have the "grizzly proof" sticker. I was like have you ever been to south Mississippi?? I don't believe I'm gonna have to deal with a grizzly drinking my beer
I have a Mojave Tan RTIC 65 It took 9 weeks to arrive. When I sat it next to my bud's YETI 105 it's identical as far as fit and finish goes...fantastic!!
For a few years I've wanted a Yeti, was hesitant to spend that much on a cooler. Happy I came across RTIC, I'll be purchasing one of these instead this week.
I think Yeti is the Starbucks of coolers. It's mostly about the brand and it is thought to be cool. I would doubt they are actually any better than a lot of other brands out there.
@ cotontop3 you the man. this is the exact review I was looking for. You've made my mind up for me. My wife and I have been discussing for a while now to spend money on a cooler instead of spending it on ice daily. Rtic here we come. Thanks a bunch
+Burn280 good deal, I'm glad this was helpful. Hopefully rtic will pick this video up too. I just watched it start to finish for first time and as I was editing it, I wasn't sure I liked it but after watching now, it's pretty freaking good.
+cotontop3 yea this video was awesome. I love your videos. Great thing about this video is as you said Rtic isn't paying you anything to compliment there products. You picked a product to be solely a cheaper alternative to a more expensive product not necessarily trying to buy a better product. Seems to me that you got both out it.
+Burn280 correct. I've used it several more times since I filmed this video too and don't hesitate about getting one. It will still fit in my backseat area of my truck too.
Word on the street, the owner or owners of RTIC used to work at YETI and helped engineer YETI coolers. The RTIC folks left YETI and started their own company with the same engineering.
justin hill not true. I am actually friends with the jacobsens and they have no affiliation with yeti. They just saw that they could make it so they did. Blatant ripoff
I have both and both perform equal... most people I run into getting ice are more interested in the RTIC vs my YETI.. both stay in the bed of my truck all year. Can't go wrong with either.
Great video! Thanks for posting this unboxing/review. It’s solidified my decision to buy an RTIC roto-molded hard cooler for myself, among all the other similar brands/types out there.
I love my Yetis but I will buy a Rtic (been checking them out) so I have a dedicated ice cooler (I do 5 week overland treks every summer. Great video. You're cute as hell!!!
Nice tech tip Tim I'm going to checkem out we could use one for the races definitely impressive three days in the heat plus your bed liner is black attracting the heat also we used a regular cooler a few weeks ago I had to fill it every day with ice thanks Napa Mike
The RTIC 65 is true to advertised and actually holds 65.5 quarts. The YETI 65 only holds about 44…so in actuality the RTIC 65 holds 5 more quarts than the YETI 75 (which only holds 70)
I run the grizzley coolers for my hunting I have the 400 and 150 and the 75 everyone was giving me lip about not getting and Yeti but I can't justify the cost of them and I like the preformance of my Griz coolers. great vid
I just got the 20qt yeti, love it. Gonna get one a tad bigger, 35 or 45. I drive by a couple hotels on my way down to my boat, gonna have to stop by them to fill my coolers for free.
It's all about brand recognition. Example. A national bakery has it's head quarters where I live. Once a loaf of bread is baked they bag it as many as 12 different brand bags with a price range from.79¢ - $2.59 for the same bread in a different packages. JS. Keep up the videos.
About 3/4 thru you viedo a advertisment came on......................then went off , and your viedo keep going. Oh well, thought I would let you know. Love the infromation on the coolers.
Rumor is Yeit was Stated / made by a husband and wife team and then they spit up and it was messy. One kept yeti going the other started RTIC to be beat out yetis sales. No better person to built a cooler that looks and works just as good than a Mad ex.
Appreciate The Info Tim . I Have been using a Series 52 Coleman Extreme Cooler for the last couple of years .Not a bad get me by cooler for the money but it anit no Rtic or Yeti . Only reason why i bought the Coleman was because i was in bad need of a new Cooler & Watching the Money @ the time . I Have been wanting a Yeti since i seen my brother bought Yeti Tundra 45 Last year . I Seen the Yeti hold Ice longer than my Coleman & that's what Sold Me . But since i watched Your Video on the Rtic Cooler . I Believe that the Rtic gonna be my next cooler . Mack
I used the extreme for camping and it worked great!. Now I did only use it for food so it would stay closed most of the time and I would always have ice left after a long weekend. If I still camped i probably would look into getting one of those rtics tho.
I Also have a Coleman Cube on Wheels . Although it's a pretty good cooler my extreme holds ice a little better than the cube . Seems like the extreme i have has a better seal than the cube i have .
Nice Review Cotontop3! Update: So now as for February 3, 2017, RTIC has lost their legal battle against YETI and settled out of court for an undisclosed amount of money. To my knowledge, RTIC will discontinue certain items that they sell and will redesign their coolers. ✌🏾
Right on, man! Thanks for helping me make a decision about coolers. I'd like to buy a Yeti cause I'm from Texas and all, and I feel like Rtic for sure ripped them off if they aren't them company, but 400$ is crazy money. Thanks again
From all the videos I've watched comparing these two coolers I'd say go for the yeti for the better quality control. You get what you pay for however rtic will perform just as well. Little things like the lid not staying up, the crooked emblem, and the cosmetic flaws that they've been known to come with, would make me wish I went ahead and bought a yeti. Just me. I will always go with quality over quantity
Trenton Powelson crooked emblem? For 50% less you can put that thing on upside down. Some people will say anything to justify they're need for a fancy label.
Jeremy Manley yeah it's called quality control dumbass. If they can't put the label on neatly there's no telling where else they are getting sloppy. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. There is no right or wrong answer.
Ones from Houston (RTIC) ones from Austin (Yeti). Yeti did sue RTIC and they settled, with RTIC agreeing to change the future generation design (which they were going to do anyway) and undisclosed monetary compensation. RTIC coolers are lighter and often last the same length or longer than a Yeti cooler. I was hoping when doing my research to find that Grizzly was the best value but unfortunately, it loses out in an ice challenge by a day or 2 depending. RTIC is the way to go hands down. Twin brothers who went to school and stay in Houston, making America's largest box business before getting into coolers vs two fisherman who decided to make yeti cuz the wanted to stand on their coolers to get a better view and have zero qualms about their pricing. They have an everyman image and they don't deserve it. Go with RTIC every time.
The only problem I found was, you have to wait months for other coolers or you walk into any store and yeti is right there. Yeti has a good warranty. I have everything from ozark, k2 , and igloo. Id love to save the money but waiting months without knowing I wasn't.
@cotontop3 Great video man!! Yeti and Rtic great coolers just posted a review of my yeti 75 mixing ice packs with loose ice and you can get tons of extra days out of your ice I would love to get an ice machine some day too that’s awesome
Thanks for being honest in your video. I just bought a brand new Orca 10 day cooler & can only get 2 days or ice retention inside my climate controlled house in the low 70's F. What's the secret to getting close to 10 days? Do they use special ice or what?
I think there's a ton of coolers out there on par or maybe even better than the yeti. The reason I bought Yetis though is because they are in just about every sporting goods store around me. If these other people want to sell more they got to get them out where people can see them period! I'm not ordering something that expensive online until I can put hands on it.
Competition is good. Yeti is depending on name recognition for the extra profit. They will eventually come down in price if enough people buy the other brand. One thing I do on all my stuff like that is to stencil my name on it. It will be less likely to walk off with someone else. I have had that happen. You can get the brass metal stencils that clip together from Ace Hardware. They never wear out.
Yes, just a good grade of spray paint. These stencils are 2 inch letter size, each letter hooks into the next one. Brass. Your last name has no repeat letters so maybe all you need is one kit. You can share your stencil with company. I have my name on my shovels, pole saws, etc. www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1292993&cp=1259504&parentPage=family
Man, I've been bouncing around checking out these RTIC v. YETI vids, and I'll guarantee you they are one in the same company. The thing is that they are giving you a 50% discount for waiting three months to get the RTIC, LoL.
I just had a new Bison 25 given to me by one of my supply houses. Curious to see how well it does. Seems to be well built like the others. We'll see. Take care Tim.
I suggest Pelican Coolers I have 4 and they win every ice retention contest they have ever been in including when Field and Stream tested them against 100 other high end coolers. All these others are Chinese and Pelican is the ONLY one of the 100 that was 100% made in America with American parts. And their latches are second to none. My bigger ones will hold ice 10 days outside in July. And they have a vent that opens when you open the latch that vents them so they will open. The US military uses Pelican only and you can connect a garden hose to the drain.
Only issue I have with RTIC is that they only give a one year warranty, YETI gives 5 years. If you put your cooler through the elements, the RTIC might not be for you. If you are a casual cooler user, it would be perfect.
I have the reverse, a tan 65 rtic and a white(well it used to be ha) 45 yeti… and a blue 20 rtic… my 65 rtic holds ice better than the yeti, but both hold it for a long time(they both stay out in the sun and weather, paid 200 for the rtic, paid over 300 for the yeti. But I did notice my 65 rtic has two drains(one on either side, and one is bigger than the other and higher in the cooler) where I only see the one on Tim’s here
Rtic is a product of the WIFE of the man that sold Yeti,,they divorced, she had Half the company,,so she now makes the Coolers, cups, etc. Only thing is,,HER is not only the SAME Quality,,,it's HALF the Price. Her Slogan "Over built, NOT over Priced". Love it. you GO GIRL
Clyde bigsby you're exactly right, just enough to be different than a yeti. What most don't realize either, is there's about 3 more companies selling the same cooler under a different name.
cotontop3 that happens with a lot of products. You'd be surprised how many products are made in the same factory yet because of a sticker cam cost double the price.
My Pelican cup was nearly 1/2 the price of the Yeti Cup and stayed cooler nearly twice as long. Yeti is way over rated and prices way inflated. They spend tons on advertising and slick marketing. But the product is only mediocre at best.
I'd rather have a yeti because I've personally seen more bad coolers from rtic than I have from yeti. a friend of mine got an rtic and it looked like it was chewed up by a bear with router and a saw blade.
nice review, i believe RTIC is made in China where Yeti is in the words of Toby Kieth Made In America, which is a selling point for some who wants to support USA instead of supporting China.
I wonder if the lid 'problem' is really a good way to ensure the lid gets shut...I was thinking kids might be not so good at closing lids... or the impaired...
I'd think the same place makes both from you showing us that , same as when I was working for GENEROUS MOTORS building trucks they are the same thing but a few places were stickers or nameplates change other than that about everything is same. think I'll be buying me a rtic , price i like better
+ARE YOU SURE it is the exact same, just half the price. I think whoever is making them had some sort of agreement with yeti to only make em for yeti for a certain amount of time and now there's other names that are selling the same cooler. Yeti could be able to sue them I would think, if rtic copied them.
Nice pro tip! That kind of heat is too much for this MN boy. Good Lord almighty. We get that every now and then and I find my way down the street to the lake real quick.
+cotontop3 I'm not a big UA-cam channel guy, but I follow and watch quite a few of your videos. I hope you make a fee bucks along the way doin it! I tell people to check you out all the time.
FYI - With the internet sales tax laws, there is a requirement to pay sales tax IF the company operates in your state. Here is the comment answered about sales tax on RTIC's site: Do I need to pay Tax? We charge sales tax for orders that are shipped to Texas, Pennsylvania, California, Illinois and Georgia.
I just bought a brand new Orca 10 day cooler & can only get 2 days or ice retention inside my climate controlled house in the low 70's F. What's the secret to getting close to 10 days? Do you guys use special ice or what?
It was a husband and wife that started yeti and then they got a divorce so the wife wanted to basically beat the husband's business so she started arctic and she sells the coolers for A lot cheaper there made I think in the same factory to
cal905 literally none of that is accurate. Yeti was founded by two brothers, as was rtic. Rtic is just a knock off which is why they lost a lawsuit to yeti and was forced to change their product line. Similar product but rtic lacks the quality control and material quality of yeti so they can cut cost.
2 years ago this video sold me and I bought my 65 qt RTIC and I could not be happier. Great Cooler.
Still have it?
I'm from Hattiesburg and a guy was trying to tell me that I should get the YETI cause the RTIC doesn't have the "grizzly proof" sticker. I was like have you ever been to south Mississippi?? I don't believe I'm gonna have to deal with a grizzly drinking my beer
Great video. You convinced me of what I already suspected. That their slogan is true, over built, not overpriced. Thanks!
Finally an honest review! Thank you sir.
Hey Chris, I appreciate your view!
I think Yeti is the Starbucks of coolers. It's mostly about the brand and it is thought to be cool. I would doubt they are actually any better than a lot of other brands out there.
+craig horton you're exactly right. It's mainly the cool factor and brand.
It's more of the Gucci of coolers. It's all brand name.
We have 3 Yetis but if I could go back I’d just get a 65 RTIC. Which I’ll probably get when I get a center console
Smart guy right here. Thanks for the video! Happy with my Rtic 👍🏼
@ cotontop3 you the man. this is the exact review I was looking for. You've made my mind up for me. My wife and I have been discussing for a while now to spend money on a cooler instead of spending it on ice daily. Rtic here we come. Thanks a bunch

That's the Ferrari / Lamborghini story
justin hill not true. I am actually friends with the jacobsens and they have no affiliation with yeti. They just saw that they could make it so they did. Blatant ripoff
Lonely Firetruck cool
Santonio Allen I just heard the same thing tonight.
Lonely Firetruck not a rip off if it works better.
Love the music over you talking good choice
Hey brotha, I appreciate the review. I just picked up an RTIC 65 for $140 shipped. I got it because of this review. Keep on truckin' man!
+Jonathan Witzman that's pretty cool. They have been dropping the price and those things are serious deals right now.
Jonathan Witzman how did you get the good deal? I only see them for $200
Look up their facebook page and follow the link there. Apparently it's some kind of game day deal they're running.
Jonathan Witzman yep they're on sale just got a 45 for $122 shipped
I just got my 65-RTIC in this week. great review! honest and down home I love it! Thank you! 👊👊👏👏
Good honest review. this is what brought me to the channel and been watching videos ever since.
Thank you man, I appreciate it!
I have both and both perform equal... most people I run into getting ice are more interested in the RTIC vs my YETI.. both stay in the bed of my truck all year. Can't go wrong with either.
This video summarizes every bit of research I've done about the coolers. Great job! Wish I wasn't too late to the game, now you can't buy the RTICs!
Great video! Thanks for posting this unboxing/review. It’s solidified my decision to buy an RTIC roto-molded hard cooler for myself, among all the other similar brands/types out there.

Great review , thanks for sharing, sounds like Rtic is a better purchase, two for the price of one ! That's a no brainier right there.
The RTIC 65 is true to advertised and actually holds 65.5 quarts. The YETI 65 only holds about 44…so in actuality the RTIC 65 holds 5 more quarts than the YETI 75 (which only holds 70)

I went with Pelican as they have wheeled coolers. I ain't trying to throw my back out..PELICAN coolers are solid and best in the business
Yeah Vic i agree, i fish in Mexico and pelican keeps my fish cool and fresh longer than my Rtic.
Word.
RTIC 20 on its way to replace my small Coleman thanks to your video. I had not heard of them. I really enjoy your videos. Good work.
Great video! Loving my RTIC 45. It's been pulling deck duty next to my pool all summer long! Looking at the 20 and 65!
About 3/4 thru you viedo a advertisment came on......................then went off , and your viedo keep going. Oh well, thought I would let you know. Love the infromation on the coolers.
thx I'll be getting a Rtic 45 here very soon....just sold me on them
Rumor is Yeit was Stated / made by a husband and wife team and then they spit up and it was messy. One kept yeti going the other started RTIC to be beat out yetis sales. No better person to built a cooler that looks and works just as good than a Mad ex.
Awesome vid, great review thanks probably saved me a few ..one of the few vids I could watch from beginning to end thanks mate!!!
i bought the rtic 65 today...it shipped litterally 3 minutes after i purchased it.....it was 179.99...no shipping no sales tax
Sub Scribe I think I ordered it on a Thursday or Friday and had it the following Wednesday

Awesome review!
Great, honest review cotontop3. Thanks for posting.
Same family the insides are the same let's get someone to city them open and your right on that 5 day challenge it was not all honezt.
Right on, man! Thanks for helping me make a decision about coolers. I'd like to buy a Yeti cause I'm from Texas and all, and I feel like Rtic for sure ripped them off if they aren't them company, but 400$ is crazy money. Thanks again
RTIC is from Texas also
I like my Igloo cooler's! For one they are affordable, and two they work for me!
Man I was just looking at this cooler. Great review!
There is no right or wrong answer.
tpow My tundra 35 has a slightly crooked emblem
Ones from Houston (RTIC) ones from Austin (Yeti). Love this guy! Awesome video bro!
At 97 degrees I bet you couldn't even touch the black bed liner in that pickup so add that factor sounds like a good cooler to me
Thank you for review. i bought the Rtic.
The only problem I found was, you have to wait months for other coolers or you walk into any store and yeti is right there. Yeti has a good warranty. I have everything from ozark, k2 , and igloo. Id love to save the money but waiting months without knowing I wasn't.
Team yeti for life !! The customer service is unmatched and overall product experience/durability is well worth the price
Yeti ain’t even true to size! Scam
And OP
Excellent review! Thank you my friend
Arctic cooler looks like a nice one i hope it works well for you Tim .
@cotontop3
Great video man!! Yeti and Rtic great coolers just posted a review of my yeti 75 mixing ice packs with loose ice and you can get tons of extra days out of your ice
I would love to get an ice machine some day too that’s awesome
Thanks for being honest in your video. I just bought a brand new Orca 10 day cooler & can only get 2 days or ice retention inside my climate controlled house in the low 70's F. What's the secret to getting close to 10 days? Do they use special ice or what?

Thanks for an honest review!
+Russell Roberson thank you Russel
Good review! You mentioned the wire basket early in the video for the RTIC 65. I only see the 45 basket on their website.
+Justin Atwell they had one to fit the 65 when I ordered mine.
Alright. Thanks man!
Competition is good. Yeti is depending on name recognition for the extra profit. They will eventually come down in price if enough people buy the other brand. Yes, just a good grade of spray paint. These stencils are 2 inch letter size, each letter hooks into the next one. Brass. Your last name has no repeat letters so maybe all you need is one kit. You can share your stencil with company. I have my name on my shovels, pole saws, etc.

Thank you Dave, this is one thing I love about UA-cam, is the things that others can help out with and suggest!
We'll see. Take care Tim.
thanks for the honest review
I love my RTCI soft side!
cool video!
And I love yetis too I have a yeti 110 and a 65 yeti that I keep on my rig
I suggest Pelican Coolers I have 4 and they win every ice retention contest they have ever been in including when Field and Stream tested them against 100 other high end coolers. All these others are Chinese and Pelican is the ONLY one of the 100 that was 100% made in America with American parts. And their latches are second to none. I like the tan one but might not hold ice as long since white reflects more light.
Only issue I have with RTIC is that they only give a one year warranty, YETI gives 5 years. If you put your cooler through the elements, the RTIC might not be for you. If you are a casual cooler user, it would be perfect.
great review i was looking for a cooler thats about the same quality as yeti but cheaper for my momma.
+gabrielle irizarry not sure if they still doing it or not but u could get a 65 for $140
I have the reverse, a tan 65 rtic and a white(well it used to be ha) 45 yeti… and a blue 20 rtic… my 65 rtic holds ice better than the yeti, but both hold it for a long time(they both stay out in the sun and weather, paid 200 for the rtic, paid over 300 for the yeti. But I did notice my 65 rtic has two drains(one on either side, and one is bigger than the other and higher in the cooler) where I only see the one on Tim’s here
They had to redesign rtic models cause yeti sued them
Wouldn't be shocked to find 1 company makes most of the coolers per desired specs, much like lawn mowers, etc.
excellent on the coolers
+canvids1 thank you
thanks for the video sir. I'm sold.
Love it. you GO GIRL
Great vid! I subed
+GEAR TESTATHON (GEARTESTATHON) thank you!
Its hard to beat that kind of performance..
+Eric Corse you're right
Clyde bigsby you're exactly right, just enough to be different than a yeti. What most don't realize either, is there's about 3 more companies selling the same cooler under a different name.
exactly wrong
cotontop3 that happens with a lot of products. You'd be surprised how many products are made in the same factory yet because of a sticker cam cost double the price.
HEB in Texas has a brand called the Kodi and its around 75 to 100 bucks cheaper and does the same as the yeti.
Kodi is a name brand dumb fuk.
I work at Cabela's and we tested yeti and rtic and yes the ice lasted 5 days
Yeti did sue RTIC and won but I have both and can't tell a difference but Id rather have the RTIC because its half the price.
Check the dimensions. I know that the yeti uses outside dimensions. The pelican coolers use inside dimensions.
+Michael Cumbie the same rtic is a little larger than the same yeti.
the Engel, the Siberian, and pelican all outlasted the yeti in ice lasting.. and all are cheaper in price
Interesting Tim
nice review, i believe RTIC is made in China where Yeti is in the words of Toby Kieth Made In America, which is a selling point for some who wants to support USA instead of supporting China.
RTIC coolers are made by one of the founders of yeti, he branched off and made the RTIC and there is now a lawsuit between the two.
Can you explain more?
according to RTIC this is just a myth and there's zero relationship in any way between the two companies.
I wonder if the lid 'problem' is really a good way to ensure the lid gets shut...I was thinking kids might be not so good at closing lids... or the impaired...
Try the Lifetime 55 quart cooler for $100.00 very well made and at a much more affordable price than the others.
Lifetime leaks water from top... Ozark Trail?
RTIC is located here north of Houston Texas
+Dustin Hruzek yeti is in Texas too
+cotontop3 yeah RTIC is closer. Cool videos keep it up.
If you put a little dry ice in with that regular ice, that thing will keep ice even longer.
Have you tried this ? Lmao
+Shaun Kolar hey Shaun, thanks for the view and the cool comment!
+cotontop3 I'm not a big UA-cam channel guy, but I follow and watch quite a few of your videos. I hope you make a fee bucks along the way doin it! I tell people to check you out all the time.
+Shaun Kolar thank you for spreading the word!
I read somewhere the engineers from Yeti quit and started their own company. Rtic is just having them made in China.
FYI - With the internet sales tax laws, there is a requirement to pay sales tax IF the company operates in your state. Here is the comment answered about sales tax on RTIC's site:
Do I need to pay Tax? We charge sales tax for orders that are shipped to Texas, Pennsylvania, California, Illinois and Georgia.
I could no resit the price of 140 for the RTIC 65qt....ordered mine in tan, hope the lid dont warp in the sun
I guess it held up? I've had no problems with mine at all.
Yeti didn't have a patient on their seals that's why the other cooler is the same
+cotontop3 try out orca coolers. I have an orca and it’s great
Love yeti
I just bought a brand new Orca 10 day cooler & can only get 2 days or ice retention inside my climate controlled house in the low 70's F. What's the secret to getting close to 10 days? Do you guys use special ice or what?
I can't afford neither of them...I guess I'll just have to steal them from this guy and try them myself.
Ordered a 45 or 65.Not sure have to Ask my Dad.
Try a canyon from the co_op store, just as good. Got mine for less than 100 bucks
It will keep the pops cold for a few days, like mine
Since Yeti has chosen to take a public stance against the National Rifle Association, I wouldn't buy one if it were half the price of the RTIC.
