The best Sid interviews are with former teammates. Just super chill.
Go chase another one sid the kid
Everyone every year: It's time for Sid to pass the baton
Sid: Hold my beer
I remember at the start of the year people saying the Pens were on their way down and out. As a Caps fan, I told them they were freaking crazy any team with Crosby is going to be there for post season hockey and if he and Malkin get hot and get support they are always a threat to win it all. And here we are 😂
IMO, Crosby is better than ever. He took a cue from Yzerman and stopped going for points and started going for cups. He could honestly win another 2-3 cups the way the team is constructed. Hockey nerd is a great way to describe Crosby. I've never seen anyone practice better, smarter, harder, and longer than Crosby. I'm sure if he could he'd sleep at the rink.
Lots of people comparing Crosby and McDavid.
I always just imagine them playing together on the powerplay for Team Canada...Scary good.
This is my dream
I really wanna see that
A powerplay with mackinnon crosby and mcdavid....oof

Not gonna lie it feels kinda weird to see Ovi grey-haired and Sid aging a bit over the past few years. For some reason, I still sometimes refer to him as Sid the Kid even though he is closing in on 1100 games lol
Sid is finally starting to show some grizzledness
Sid doesn't have that baby face anymore but he still scores more points then the games played.
It's sad. I remember the hype and every kid on our team picking team ovi or team Crosby. The excitement for hockey back then was just starting to spark and it felt magical. The sad part is how fast the time went by. It feels like a few months ago, and before we know it we'll be talking the same way about McDavid and how we can't believe he got old... I miss those days of playing and living the hockey life.
@@dommyb11 you couldn’t of described it any more perfect than that man, love hockey so much
ya Sid with the peach fuzz gradually filled out, they say Ovi went gray due to stress of never winning the cup haha
It’s gonna be hard to ever get another sid ovi rivalry. Two at the top of their game for 16 years in the same division knowing if you wanna have a chance at the cup you’ll have to go through each other both had unreal supporting cast for years. You just won’t find another one like it for a long time.
Nailed it. When I went back and watched the 09 series against the Caps. It just blew my mind how intense that series was. Didn't remember it being that intense watching it live.
Absolutely
@@chd8759 amazing series.
I think after they both won cups and had those brutal back and forth series caps fans and pens fans gained a begrudging respect for each other
I know it won't be the same but McDavid vs Matthews in the 2nd round could also be pretty legendary
Sid's such a down to earth person.

@@xrumich3896 I lived in the town he lives in and he really is just a really nice, down to earth human being.
Crosby and McDavid are pretty much equal in talent I'd say. The thing is, we missed out on Crosby's prime years due to that dirty, blindside hit by Steckel in the 2010/2011 Winter Classic vs the Capitals. Crosby has better edgework, puck protection skills, hockey IQ, and Vision while McDavid is a faster skater with better hands. Crosby generates offense with his hockey IQ and his ability to see plays happen before they do while McDavid generates virtually everything off of his speed. Obviously McDavid is the best player in the NHL, but I'd take 24 year old Crosby over 24 year old McDavid. I think people forget how dominant Crosby was when he was healthy in his prime years... He was also playing with subpar linemates in a lower scoring NHL compared to today. Not to mention he plays in a much tougher division than McDavid ever has.
Yes exactly. Crosby and mcdcvid are pretty similar I just think that Crosby has a solid two-way play and Mcdavid has a better offensive play
I always try explaining this to people they are so blinded by their hate for sid they were waiting for any possibility to say someone is better. I mean people use to deadass try and say toews was better until sid matched his cup wins.

Don't know why they compare Matthews and McDavid to Crosby and Ovi. Yes, Matthews scores a lot like Ovi, but Ovi was at least up there in points with Crobsy. Matthews isn't even close to McDavid. Can't even compare them...McDavid is on another planet
Exactly. Thank You.
If you look at the majority of their seasons in their career, Crosby's pts game are way higher than Ovis. Now Matthews finishing 5th in points is still close enough for me. Even if Mcdavid has a ton more points, its not like Matthews is 25th in the league in pts. Hes 5th and was hurt. If he was healthy he would have been 3rd. But Matthews is as close to Mcdavid as anyone outside of MacKinnon is going to get.

OV and Crosby were neck and neck when they were young and their peaks are basically equal (by far the best player in hockey). McD is the only player who fits that bill. Sorry but Matthews doesn't really belong here
I think you'll be proven wrong in the coming seasons tbh. Matthews is probably a lock to score 50+ goals and 100 points every year here on out
@@6ixman259 His numbers (alongside McDavid’s) were heavily inflated by playing some of the worst defenses in the league in the North division who have no true contender. He also lacks the playmaking skills to reach 100 points. He’s not scoring 70 goals to make up for it.
Let’s see what happens when he plays the whole league next season as he gets better

Which of the modern hockey players can become the best sniper of the NHL regular seasons and beat Gretzky's record? Consider those who have already scored 500 or more goals, as well as those who received the Maurice Richard Trophy, the best scorer of this season.
To get into the TOP of the best NHL snipers, you need to score a lot and play a lot of matches.
List of top NHL scorers by career-ending goals per game average:

2. Mario Lemieux - 0.754

Wayne Gretzky played 1487 matches. In terms of the number of games played, Wayne Gretzky ranked 24th, Ovechkin entered the TOP 60, and the number of players who played 1000 or more games is only 378. All players from the above list played fewer games than Gretzky. And the first five hockey players, although they bypassed Gretzky in terms of the average number of goals per game, did not even play 1000 games.
Average number of goals per game:
1. Auston Matthews - 0.626
2. Alexander Ovechkin - 0.612
3. Connor McDavid - 0.521
4. Steven Stamkos - 0.521
5. David Pastrnak - 0.496
6. Leon Draisaitl - 0.47
7. Sidney Crosby - 0.468
Over time, due to age, this indicator only worsens. For example, at the age at which Ovechkin is now McDavid, Matthews and Pastrnak, the average number of goals per game was 0.634. Here all three lost to Ovechkin.
The more often a hockey player misses games, the less he will play in his career.
Percentage of matches played in recent seasons:
1. Connor McDavid - 97% (seasons 2016/2017-2021/2022)
2. Alexander Ovechkin - 96% (seasons 2014/2015-2021/2022)
3. Auston Matthews - 90% (seasons 2016/2017-2021/2022)
4. David Pastrnak - 87% (seasons 2015/2016-2021/2022)
Multiplying the average number of goals per game by the percentage of games played, we get the following indicators:
1. Alexander Ovechkin - 0.59
2. Auston Matthews - 0.561
3. Connor McDavid - 0.508
4. David Pastrnak - 0.429
Ovechkin at the age at which McDavid, Matthews and Pastrnak are now, this figure would be 0.61. Here again, all three lost to Ovechkin.
Let's compare Ovechkin and his closest competitor Matthews in the same conditions, namely in those seasons in which they turned 20-24 years old. For Matthews, these are the 2017/2018-2021/2022 seasons. Ovechkin has 2005/2006-2009/2010.
In these seasons, Ovechkin scored 269 goals in 396 games, Matthews 219 goals in 325 games.
Average number of goals per game: Ovechkin - 0.679, Matthews - 0.674.
Percentage of matches played: Ovechkin - 96.59%, Matthews - 87.37%.
The product of these indicators: Ovechkin - 0.656, Matthews - 0.589.
Of today's hockey players, Ovechkin has the best chance of becoming the NHL's top scorer in the regular season and breaking Gretzky's record. His closest competitor, Matthews, at the same age, has a lower average number of goals per game, and also missed more games.
