As a die hard flyers fan, same goes for me. We're all lucky to have watched his entire career. Same to ovi. Couldn't ask for a better player to boo lol. Seriously, when he retires, the league will be worse for it.
Excited to see how Reilly Smith plays in Pittsburgh. He’s a really great player and was a big part of our great regular season and playoff success recently and throughout the first 6 years of our existence. We love him here . Take care of him Penguins fans!
I hope Crosby can maybe pull another two 100 point seasons or get over 200 more points. That would put him in the top 10 all time points leaders. What an achievement that would be especially playing in the low scoring eras
Don’t forget he had a 24 game point streak or something insane like that before he went out with a concussion. He missed out on a massive amount of points during that time off, during his best years
Not used to seeing the grey hairs on Crosby. Gotta enjoy of what's left of his playing career. He's among the best NHL players I've ever seen for the last eighteen years.
I legit got goose bumps when Sid started talking playing best-on-best. What a shame it has been, and will be if our generation never gets to see Crosby, MacKinnon and McDavid together on a line.
He’s the best ever. I’m his number one fan. The preseason game is here in Halifax this year I’m so sad I didn’t have tickets but I’ll be sitting outside supporting my number one player with my 87 jersey on. Ps. I’m a leaf fan but no one compares to Sid.
Sid has seen such a transition in the game over the span of his career. His answer to the last question about player confusion is such a spot on response. When he joined the league people were still able to headhunt and you still had enforcement, now players have to think and second guessing plays a role in their decisions on the ice. The tables have turned quite a bit.
Guy's such a beauty. Works his ass off, has made countless linemates better and has taken less $$ to do it. Humble, driven and courteous. First ballot HOF. I don't even like Pittsburgh. Don't hate em but don't care for em that much. Hats off to 87.
The more I watch Sid become a man the more I think he will never actually coach in the NHL. He may hand pick a team for Canada every now and then but my gut says he will dedicate his life to the youth. I hope to be able to see him play before he retires.
I heard him say it around this time last year and he seemed confident when saying it. I bet you he retires summer 2025 bd when he does ratings will dip because he is the face of the league
Jagr is still way more talented with better counting stats to boot. I would say the talent level isent even close as a lifelong Pens fan. Jagr was a one man army, Sid is an elite grinder. I can’t stand the comparisons to be honest. #2 behind Mario for sure.
No. Even if this rumor is true, he and the Pens (who I believe he will work with after he retires) are so private and image obsessed it would never happen.
I would love to see Crosby traded to Avalanche in his last years to see him play with Mackinnon and have a real chance to win one more time.. but probably not going to happen and I’m not betting on pens winning anytime soon
If Kyle wins sid another cup I will take back what I say about Kyle and the Eric K trade if Kyle wins the pens cup I will laught to Kyle show what you got
Not how that works though. You could make "perfect" trades or acquisitions and still fail to win it all. Just look at Boston. They crushed everyone yet failed. That's how hockey is sometimes.
Too many better teams that have way better tandems than Sid and Malkin entering the beginning of the end of their careers. I cant blame them for trying but imagine the picks and prospects they could get for Sid Malkin and Lentang, and how that could kick off a rebuild.
Nah, 176 points between the two of them last year. I think they have a chance still. Maybe not a big one, but you don't trade players that have brought your city 3 stanley cups. Ya, that's right..3!!!
They’d get something similar / marginally better at best than what they just gave up for Karlsson, while pissing off the entire fan base in the process. They’ll bottom out in 3-5 years and have a full rebuild they’ll need to go through.
@@husg13 For sure, you can definitely make a case to keep trying but a combined 174 is that special in today's NHL. Scoring has gone up and now the top players are scoring 120++. I don't know too much about the Penguins but they better be getting astounding secondary scoring to have a chance.
@@chillsavage Yeah I get it, and it's what every other GM in the league would do. You would get a better return than that though, and you would still have those pieces because you wouldn't have gone out and got Karlson. I guess my point is, if you see the team bottoming out in three years with very little chance of winning another cup, then why wait?
@@jordanstapleton3180 two players on the same historic power play are putting up 120+. Anything above a ppg is still elite and Crosby was playing above 100 point for 75%+ of the season last year.
Lmfao I love how it's the "new look penguins" when the only major change on the ice is Eric Karlsson who'll be out injured before Shittsburgh can say the words "Metropolitan Division"
Gotta be tough for Sid... touted as a generational talent, then 10 years later McDavid comes along and re-invents how skating and stickhandling works. It's like training your whole life to be a chimney sweep... then people start using electric fireplaces. wtfff
What? All these younger high skill players are so obviously influenced by Crosby, from wanting to be him when they were younger, that you could say he's one of the top few most influential players in history. There is a very clear delineation from before Crosby, Crosby, and then the players after him all incorporating certain things in their playing and skating that they obviously got from him. Then there's the rings. No matter what, Crosby is solidified in the highest tier of players with only a few other names - it's starting to look like Mcdavid may not have a chance to catch him in overall greatness.
It's gotta be tough for McDavid. Come into the league in the shadow of the most successful athlete and utterly pale in comparison when it counts the most. Also, Crosby is outscoring McDavid...at 36 years old.
One day Sid will hang up his skates and the hockey world will miss him. As a die hard pens fan since 1990, it’s been a privilege to watch his career
As a die hard flyers fan, same goes for me. We're all lucky to have watched his entire career. Same to ovi. Couldn't ask for a better player to boo lol. Seriously, when he retires, the league will be worse for it.
Ovi + Sid era is legendary. Will be sad when they’re gone.
100% agree.
87 is hands-down the better player, though. I don't understand the criticism he still gets after all of this time.
@@jmarx3943 Sid vs Giroux will be the hockey moment i loved the most saying... this as a Duck fan
@@fefloria yeah back when my flyers were relevant, the flyers vs pens games were some of the wildest I've ever seen. Truly entertaining.
How could you hate this guy, class act
I know man. Don't get it.
Sid's articulate, intelligent even tempered and a nice guy. It's no wonder Philly fans don't like him.

People always put up Crosby and Ovi stats to show how similar they are
They never add that Crosby has 150 less games played
He only needs 89 points this season to pass Esposito for 10th all time in points.
Top 7 all time already

Such a good person, leader and competitor.
