I started my business about 3years ago here in China too and it was tough at the start but I finally learned a lot and much stable now. I’m glad I started. Starting and running a business is never a waste, even if the beginning is rough, it’ll eventually be fine. Thanks for your video. I enjoyed it. ✌🏾

Hi Dina! Thank you for this video. I have tried many side hustles as well over the past two years, including blogging and coaching, and have been feeling burnt out. All of my friends are in corporate 9-5s and I feel like I often get weird looks/judged for going this route, so I'm super glad you made this video and shared the info with us. Makes me feel less alone in this journey. Best of luck and I hope you achieve everything you want this year! :)
Hey Suzanne! You're welcome! Totally relate to the feeling of being burnt out (due to overworking but also working on businesses that don't align with my long-term goals). I'm in a pretty similar situation where the majority of my friends are in 9-5s. I used to feel a bit weird that I'm doing something different, but I just remind myself that this is what I want to do with my life and it doesn't matter what other people think. True friends will support you no matter what you pursue. Good luck on your business! :)
The Calligraphy Instructor Academy is so HELPFUL!!! I still refer back to my notes and use what I learned there on a regular basis when planning and preparing for my calligraphy lessons.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 773 subs and > 300 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
@DinaLu Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my UA-cam channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a UA-camr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this UA-cam thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)
Another awesome video Dina! I have been self employed for nearly a decade. As a dog walker for a long time and now as a disability support worker with UA-cam as my side hustle :) I also have a print on demand store but I'm not very active there so it's slow but who doesn't love a passive income, big or small!
Wow I didn't know that Claire! Happy to hear that you have been able to sustain yourself with your businesses! Not everyone can do that. Looking forward to our chat on Thurs!
I love, love, love that you have done so many side hustles and I definitely agree with you about the shift of mindset thing. I am trying to be an entrepreneur myself and I have been trying many different things but there is unfortunately a lot gatekeeping. So, I would love to know more details about the side hustle processes, like where do we get started? I was inspired by one of your ideas, which was to start your own workshop/coaching, but then where do you host that idea? How do you draw people in? Do you make a social media page? Or is there an website where it's meant for those things? How do these people know to join your Zoom call and where do you collect your pay? So many questions, haha. I would also love to know more about your blogging process, as well! Like where do you blog, how many times a week, and how long it took for you to find your success (financially or audience), as well as any advice you could give. I think you have so much knowledge and I love the way you explain things without withholding any information. I'm looking forward to your continuing journey and I hope to learn as much as I can from you!

Honestly, i've been on a hunt to find a good business model that i can kick-off easily without having to put SO much money on it, but the ONE major thing that's been stopping me and it keeps dragging me back to point 0 is my location. Almost every easy business model is only open for US citizens, Australia, Canada..etc the BIG countries, i live in a country where i literally have no possibility to do anything and it sucks because i have enough money to try something online and the knowledge too, but where i live is just what's holding me back..

Doordash its a pretty good option, at least in Georgia, you can get up to 150 in only 8 hours, working 1 hour daily on weekdays and a little bit more weekends at night, just by picking up food, driving and dropping it off
Hey Amie! Omg such a small world haha Brant P mentioned you last year when I met him and told him I wanted to be a content creator/digital nomad! Congrats on all your success ❤️️
I sell 3D printed products on etsy and got my first sale 2 weeks ago. I now have 27 sales. Would you say this is normal or above average for starting out.
Hi Dina, I´m 16 years old and I´m planning to try side hustle so I could help my parents financially but I don´t know what to do. Do u have any suggestion for me?
Yes of course there will be! Waiting for January to be over and for me to get paid by Etsy on February 6th, then I'll film the video 🙌 I also sometimes share about my Etsy sales on my Instagram stories @dinadlu
Thank you! It's from a cheap gel polish pack on Amazon that I got a long time ago 😂 I do my own gel nails sometimes, I have the nail lamp. But yay thank you for noticing the nails ♥️
Hi Dina, In your next monthly update: would you be able to explain your background skillwise? Making templates on Canva, one can assume graphic design/ art? Thanks: this video is giving so much inspiration
I actually have no graphic design experience. Other than when I was a teenager I played around with Photoshop a bit. I learned canva by myself just throughout the last couple years, but I never got really good at it until I started making my Etsy listings. I still don't think I'm a very advanced canva user, but it's good enough for what I create on Etsy
Printing journals sound fascinating but I lack the upfront funds. I've considered jewelry and candle making too. I'm actually trying the jewelry but getting supplies is difficult. I considered youtube channel but I have low-self esteem, concerning my voice especially. It's also a noise driven household of 8 people.
Mmm I'm glad you've considered several options. I hope you find one that works well for you! For the youtube videos, if it's too loud you can always record outside in a park or borrow a room in the library!
I was wondering, sorry if this is a weird question but why do many youtubers choose to not link their etsy shop? I would love to see your shop and purchase cards.
So that it doesn't mess up the Etsy algorithm, and so that people don't create products in the same niche! I actually don't sell my greeting cards on my Etsy shop. But if you'd like to buy some, you can DM me on instagram dinadlu
@Dina Lu oh ok makes sense. I can see how people would want to copy the idea, especially after talking in a video about how you were successful with it. Thanks for the answer :)
You need to get your drive going and find something you're interested in or always wanted to try and just jump right in!!... It's pretty rough at the start until your brain starts to get it, just stick to it, make it a goal to at least understand it. Have fun!
My dinacalligraphy.com website is Squarespace! It's not the best if you want to run the blog full-time or do complicated things. WordPress is the best for that since it is so much more customizable.. but if you know code, you can customize the Squarespace blog
That was really a great initiative. I'm interested in selling physical products online I'm not getting where to start from like drop shipping and making our own e-commerce store.please help me out with this.❤❤
Hi Dina, thank you for your video! It was very informative. I had a small construction company for the past 3 years, and I've done everything alone, and I find it almost impossible to find reliable employees so I'm trying to work from home now. I'm tired of doing the work of 3 people, so I have been doing woodworking in my garage and selling them on marketplace. It's going ok but my weak point is that I do not how to promote or advertise. I feel as of I did know how to advertise I would be rolling in the dough, because my products I make are very nice and affordable. I don't care what I do to be honest. I just don't want to work for someone anymore. I will work harder by myself and potentially make more money. Any suggestions??
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Hmmm, I think it really depends on what you're selling (for example, when I hear of woodworking I think of furniture, but you could also be making small signs for small businesses or something) so I think your advertising/marketing strategy would depend on what exactly you're making / who you are targeting. What I would suggest for selling to individuals vs businesses would be very different. What kind of woodworking are you doing?
@@DinaLu Hey Dina! Thanks for your response. The woodworking I've been doing is custom slat wood planter boxes, slat wood planter box benches, picture frames, cutting boards, cooler boxes, etc. Everyone loves my stuff but I'd like to do more than just "pay the bills" if you know what I mean. So far I've only sold on Marketplace and to a few Facebook friends, but I feel if I had an idea how to actually get my products out to the public better I would be doing quite well, as my products are very nice. I watched a UA-cam video where the woodworker said to focus more on making smaller items that sell in larger quantities, which I could also easily do but I have no idea how to get my name out there. I seen you just posted an Etsy shop video which also seems like a cool side gig. I have a Cricut maker and make all my own shirts, crafts, etc. I'm going to check that out because I really enjoy the way you explain things in your videos. Thanks for everything Dina, you're going to do very well in life!
@@Chrissyboy82 I think there's a lot of opportunity for you here with the woodworking, with the actual woodworking itself for customers in your area since you do a lot, but also stuff online like starting a youtube channel (obviously more long term) or yes as you said, Etsy. The more you make projects, I'm sure the more customers you'll get with word of mouth. So many ways to do marketing, like word of mouth, fb marketplace, social media, going to different kinds of events (gardening events?). Good luck!!!🙌
I have something I would like to do myself. I want to make a channel on basic cooking skills and chores for the lazy significant other. I don't want to give away the entirety of the plan, but I think it has real potential. For example, I can cook a healthy breakfast in less than 90 seconds, no joke. Problem is that we live below our means to try and get ahead so our apartment is not nice to say the very least. Any ideas how I can work around the very ugly elephant in the room? I know my content will not be top tier in the beginning due to lack of experience, but not trying is the easiest way to fail.
I think you shouldn't let your apartment looks stop you from starting the channel 😊 at the beginning, I thought that my room was messy/ugly, and not as nice as the other youtubers. If you're starting a cooking channel, the only criteria is that you need a kitchen, not a beautiful kitchen. Also, it actually might be good if your kitchen doesn't look super duper beautiful because people can relate to you more.
Hey Dina, great vid so far (didn't finish watching yet). I wanted to say, I was like you, I wanted to start/create some kind of product, and the one that I felt I can actually get done was inspirational sticky notes. I felt it was doable and not very difficult to start, so that's what I did! That was my first original product I created. Ok, now back to your video.
What do you mean? With coaching, for me it was mainly meetings on zoom and I used Instagram, and my email newsletter provider active campaign mainly. I also had some resources that I put on teachable.

This video was so helpful!! Thank you for sharing your personal journey & things you learned along the way! I love that you have a curious mindset & the confidence to try new things! It’s very encouraging to see 😊
I'm so happy to hear that!!! ❤️
Doordash its a pretty good option, at least in Georgia, you can get up to 150 in only 8 hours, working 1 hour daily on weekdays and a little bit more weekends at night, just by picking up food, driving and dropping it off
Oh nice!!!
Great video! thanks a lot for sharing
Thanks for watching!!
Solid advice! You just got yourself a new subscriber.

So many great side hustle ideas!! I personally LOVE online courses!
You got more than me!! And there is no average, don't compare yourself to anyone else 😊
Do you mind sharing like the prices/how they charge you on Etsy? I heard the percentage is high 🙃🙃
@@MsLaziesArse they take 6.5%
I love this video. Helped me so much. Thank you :)
You're welcome! :)
Hi Dina, I´m 16 years old and I´m planning to try side hustle so I could help my parents financially but I don´t know what to do. Do u have any suggestion for me?
Great ideas. Thank you
You're welcome!!
Love this video!! Ty for the helpful tips
You are so welcome!
Great video! Can we please get a 3 month update about your etsy.
Yes of course there will be! Waiting for January to be over and for me to get paid by Etsy on February 6th, then I'll film the video 🙌 I also sometimes share about my Etsy sales on my Instagram stories @dinadlu
Love the ideas! Btw, what is the pink nail polish you are wearing? It looks so good on you!
Thank you! It's from a cheap gel polish pack on Amazon that I got a long time ago 😂 I do my own gel nails sometimes, I have the nail lamp. But yay thank you for noticing the nails ♥️
Hi Dina,
In your next monthly update: would you be able to explain your background skillwise?
Making templates on Canva, one can assume graphic design/ art?
Thanks: this video is giving so much inspiration
I actually have no graphic design experience. Other than when I was a teenager I played around with Photoshop a bit. I learned canva by myself just throughout the last couple years, but I never got really good at it until I started making my Etsy listings. I still don't think I'm a very advanced canva user, but it's good enough for what I create on Etsy
Do you have a video on how to do signups for like you said calligraphy event
All am trying to focus on is making my UA-cam Channel my main source of income. Hopefully someday! Am this close! Thank you for sharing! :)
You can do it! 💪 Thank you so much!
3:04 i delivered with doordash and made good money when I had my car. But, I live in SF so it's always busy.
That's awesome you liked it!
Just what I needed to make this my growth year Dina :D You're amazing
So glad 🙌 Thanks Danny!
Very inspiring! Keep on sharing gurrll
Thank you so much!!
Woww. Glad that I found your channel
Yay :)
Omg I love this content thank you 😊 for sharing♥️ I am about to make a similar video since I relate to you in doing so many business
Yay glad you like it!!!
Very educative vlog thanks for inspiring people like us
Thank you!
what if you don't have a skill lol
Lmaoo samee 😅😅
I suggest try learning a skill that is something you’re interested in
You need to get your drive going and find something you're interested in or always wanted to try and just jump right in!!... It's pretty rough at the start until your brain starts to get it, just stick to it, make it a goal to at least understand it. Have fun!
Skillshare lmao idk tho fr
@@justinrogers68 uhh skillshare is kinda bad lol
Hey! Love your energy 🖤 where do you run / host your blog? X
My dinacalligraphy.com website is Squarespace! It's not the best if you want to run the blog full-time or do complicated things. WordPress is the best for that since it is so much more customizable.. but if you know code, you can customize the Squarespace blog
Congrats on 10k!
Thank you Garry!
So beautiful😍😍😍 love to watch. From India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thank you Riya! 💖
That was really a great initiative.
I'm interested in selling physical products online I'm not getting where to start from like drop shipping and making our own e-commerce store.please help me out with this.❤❤
I'm glad you enjoyed this! I don't have experience in either of those, so sorry I can't help out!
Mam your ideas are great
Thanks a lot!
Hi Dina what do you sell on Etsy? Thanks
You hit 10k subscribers 💙 It's great Dina!!!
Thank you so much!
@@DinaLu Sounds great!
I will do all of those things effective immediately.
Thanks so much Dina, you're awesome!
Promote it in social media and show the process of woodworking 🙏
Congrats on 10 k 🎉
Thank you 🥳
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What is your diet
Hey Dina, can you teach us the process on how to make a course for people? Just like how you did in idea 6
I'll add that as an idea for a video!
I love your videos and content. 🙂
Thank you Kath! I'm glad you love them! 😊
Yesss! Start with what feels easiest/most comfortable is a great way to start a business 🙌
Congratulations 🍾
Thank you!!

But what would be the difference between a journal for lefties and righties? Haha
Great video
Thanks!
Do you have a video on how to become a coach?
Not on that topic, specifically!
What sites do you recommend to offer coaching?
What do you mean? With coaching, for me it was mainly meetings on zoom and I used Instagram, and my email newsletter provider active campaign mainly. I also had some resources that I put on teachable.
i just got my first sale on etsy :DD
Congrats!!!! 🙌🙌🙌
Your videos are so great, Dina!! I see you task rabbit 🐰haha
