What if your just single, how do you create a vibrant vibe jus for you…
What I like most about this video is that you teach people to think creatively and functionally, and emotionally. That's a tall order. You uplift people's awareness of how color, texture, lighting, etc impacts moods. Or how scale impacts a sense of space. And how color can be soothing or energizing, etc. Any one of these lessons can be gone into so much depth, but you find a way to give a concise overview that is useable on a universal level.
You got some serious talent Julie. We may not always have the same tastes, but I always respect your style as a person and a designer, but most especially as a teacher. Once again, a great job. Tons of information in a short time. A design student could spend days, maybe even a week deep diving into the immense amount of information in this video. It's nice to find someone offering content that challenges us to grow, and not insulting our intelligence or capacity as designers.
So many people fail to realize that intentionally or not, we're all designing our spaces, for good or bad. We ALL need these lessons to live in harmony with ourselves and our environment. You empower people to do just that with a respectful attitude towards the everyday layman. That's a rare attitude and I appreciate it.
Wow, thank you for watching with such attention to detail 🙏🏻 I didn’t begin my UA-cam journey with the intent to “teach” , but reading your comment makes me believe that this path may have been a calling all along 🥰 I love this community and how simply sharing my passion for design has brought us all together. Thank you for watching and continuing to support the channel, I appreciate you so much!! 🫶🏻
Hotel = Public space = IMPERSONAL. Yes it has a LUXURY FEEL for a mass audience.. opposite of a persoanl each item chosen individually over time.
Super agree!
I've never understood why people want to live in a hotel. Personally, I can't wait to get home where it's homey, unique and welcoming. Same goes for restaurant-style kitchens. Cold, industrial, and with enough stainless steel appliances, they can look like an autopsy room. And, we don't cook the same as restaurant chefs.
Inspiration 💫 that’s what I’m going for. Not a replica 😉
As an Art Deco enthusiast, I definitively preferred the Campos Polanco hotel. That bathroom? Just wow wow wow.
Always been in awe of the gardens in the centre of a large hotel and wanted that in the centre of any home I’m living in. I can dream! Agree about the mish-mash of furniture, there’s no focal point or theme.
Which is why mid-century atriums are so appealing to me! I can imagine myself outfitting that entire space into a garden oasis 💚🪴💚🌿
@@JulieKhuu I did work experience in an architect’s office when I was 15yo and was told to have a go at designing a home. I put an atrium in the centre of the house and the architect said, “What if they don’t want an atrium?” My jaw dropped, who would’t want one! I’m with you on the oasis.
I’d have told the architect that it was a must have parameter from the client.
All the hotels had good ideas, but my favorite is the one in Mexico City. My style is filled with color and things I have collected over the years. Rather boho, but I try to keep it more modern in aspect. I love to change out decor with the season so I don't see the same thing day after day.
Bohemian, but make it LUXE! 🤩 Campos Polanco is totally my vibe, especially the bold and inspired color story 💙
Hi Julie!
It wasn’t until I started staying in nice hotels that I noticed the white sheets comforter and a decorative blanket folded at the end to add a bit of color. Now I use white on the bed top with color from a few pillows and blanket. It’s an easier way to keep the bed looking neat. I also got my bathroom design from hotels. Easy to clean for room service made me think about making my new bathrooms easy to clean. You get a lot of great ideas from hotels! When my children were little it was important to keep furniture low. And I bought little upholstered chairs for them. Reading nooks and low shelves for books and toys. Carpet to keep
Their feet warm in winter. They liked to walk barefooted. It’s only a temporary look bc they grow out of it fast! But the use of tech changes how you design for your family. The living room tv is big and it’s easy for my now college aged son to play video games. My other one likes to watch movies there. So a big comfy sectional took care of that room. Oh and a custom credenza to hide all the video paraphanelia. nice work on this vid! You look terrific !! Margaret
My training in luxury hotel design has me looking at every single angle/ nook and cranny to inspire my own designs at home! Which is why I love traveling. It’s all about inspiration and keeping our eyes peeled Margaret! I can tell how much thought you’ve put into your own family’s home to have everyone enjoying it from all chapters of your lives 😍🫶🏻

Awesome masterclass! Thanks Julie!
Thank you for watching! 💛☺️
Love the Campos Polanco one. Is that how they pronounce Aman?
I can tell you're really in your element here. Had fun watching. A breath of fresh air from other videos where they just read from an AI script.
Thank you John! I take pride in my own thoughts lol 😂
Great video. The Aman and the Campos Polanco (not sure of the spelling ) are the most inspiring to me. I'm going to watch again, to take it all in!
There’s so much more to these hotels than the guest rooms of course- the lobby/ reception/ restaurants are also to die! 😍
You are The Star !😁❤❤❤😊
Aww shucks ☺️🫶🏻
i like the artwork you placed in your background.
Thank you Nancy, she’s new 🥰🖼️
Love this, thanks for sharing your knowledge. You have a great way of explaining things and opening my eyes to things I haven't thought of. More hotels please!
Thank you for watching Marion! I’ll lined some more up that didn’t make this first episode 🤗
Have you seen the rooms in the Encore Vegas lately? Mind blowing 😊 thanks for the tips
Love Encore! We stay there often, but always end up at Wynn Casino for the slots 🎰😜
Low beds are ok for young people. Hoghrr beds and even toilets sre good for older people
Especially on the knees! I’m feeling it right about now 😅
Gorgeous inspiration, both the colors and shapes, my favorite is the Aman
Aman is stunning! Even through imagery, it’s such a relaxing vibe 😍
Love, love the Wynn!
The ultimate playground! My favorite casino to dine, play, and gamble! 🎰😍
If only I could make my house look like the Mexico City hotel!!! Aahhhhh, swoon!!! I am all about the organic materials, the colors, the furniture !! I am totally stealing the idea of a guilded tray ceiling in my bedroom from the Shanghai hotel. I really do have a tray ceiling above the bed. The previous owners installed a SUPER orange cedar 🤮. I also love to live in a jungle, so potted trees and planted pots are all over the house, much to my hubby's chagrin...😏
I hope your mom is settling in to your home and feeling her spirits lifted by being around your family 🙂
I bet the cedar would love lovely stripped down Timilisa! 🤩
Yes! Let's make it a series... yhanks for the wonderful content. It was fun to see The Shangri-la as I used to II've in Spore.and know the hotel well . Lovely gardens but did not love the rooms. My favourite is Aman ( ah-man not A-Man). The Aman resorts are so well known, especially in Indonesia.
I was wondering how to pronounce Aman- thought the line above the A meant long vowel sound 😂
How can I achieve the Old Money pied-a-terre look, petite at about 600 sqft, and masculine vibe..apologies. Love this content
That’s a tall order, but I’m totally up for the challenge! Let me work this out for a future video Douglas, thanks for watching 🙏🏻☺️
This is a great video. My aesthetic is like the Aman hotel in NY. I like muted colors with a minimal asian feel. The Wynn is beautiful but too much red. A touch of red would be better to me.
Aman is super luxe, love that feel for my bedroom. For common areas, color brings so much excitement, but red is definitely not for the faint of heart 😅😍
What’s the name of the plant behind you?
Schefflera Amate 🌿💚
My fav place is walt Disney world
I’m a huge Disney girl myself, can we turn the girls’ room into Ariel’s grotto with my Mom still in there? 🧜🏻♀️😅
@@JulieKhuu have you been to WDW ?
Hacks for customizing new construction basic build homes without breaking the bank after buying a new home?
Ooh good one! I’m saving this Nique 🙌🏻🩷
I like you and you have great ideas and design sense but slow down. You’re starting to sound like I have the video on fast forward. I do like you, tho. ❤
Thank you Paula ☺️ You can also watch on a slower speed, the toggle is right next to the play button
I do not like the "design" of wine bottles on the wall
lol I get it for a bar Ann! 😅
The Aman had nice fire features. And I loved all the greenery in the other hotels.
Love the Aman for my private spaces, Campos Polanco for all common areas when I crave color! 😍
