My elementary school principal was the father of that kid who died in nutty putty, his whole family was there and they were yelling back and forth to eachother while he died and the rescuers tried to save him. Every year on the anniversary he’d take the week off and all the teachers would have us write him cards. I remember seeing it in the local newspaper, I can’t believe this story made it to you guys. Shits fucked, he’s a friend of my family and my parents still leave a bag of treats on his door every year.
I recently found out about this due to the fact that fascinating horror did a video on those caves as well. Such a horrifying thought to lose a son like that.
@@twophan yeah I know I remember my parents constantly checking the news hoping that they’d be able to rescue him
It's pretty known story. I heard it probably like a 1-2 years ago on some popular science channel in a video about caves.
I think it's way more unlikely to see someone who knew family of that guy in a comment section of some "anime podcast", than for some people to hear the story on the internet.

Joey asked what life choices makes you decide to be a cave rescue person. In Mexico we have a group of rescuers called "los topos" that were created when a big earthquake destroyed a lot of Mexico city in 1985 because they wanted to save people from the rubble. They have since also traveled to other countries where disasters happen like the Fukushima earthquake and tsunami of 2011.

The fact that Reddit includes a 'mark as spoiler' option is amazing. It blurs the content for other users and then warns them, letting them know that it's a spoiler if they try to reveal it. The fact that Twitter and other Social Media is fucking dumb.

ahh i’ve been behind on episodes, but I’m so happy to catch up and see that my fave boys are starting off by talking about my fave hobby!! Caving has been a huge part of my life for the past 4 years and it’s not as scary as it seems! Cave deaths are very rare, unless you’re stupid or are very unfortunate (like the guy from Nutty Putty). To answer their question about cave rescue, there actually is NCRC training in America (not sure about other countries). But it doesn’t even have to be your full time job! Though a lot of fire fighters will incorporate it as part of their training.
As someone who's only recently getting back into the anime sphere after dropping out several years ago after one too many terrible shows, I appreciate you deciding not to spoil shows that you talk about, not only here, but in most of your content. There is a lot of rock climbing, slot canyons and caves in Utah, and people get into trouble all the time.
We all know what Connor’s afraid of: Stickers

I wonder how Connor would feel about stickers of his favorite shows and moviess
@@IB21066 it's having to take it off that sucks IMO.
if it's a crappy sticker, it becomes a whole repair job trying to remove that damn thing.
sometimes it will leave paper/plastic/adhesive residue that gets nasty over time and looks awful if you leave it, in the worst case the adhesive even smears.
hopefully, you don't improperly remove the sticker and damage what you have it on.
I find it hilarious they were scared of toilet flushing lolq
In my honest opinion, to solve the "spoiler culture" on Twitter, Twitter should have added a spoiler tag feature just like on Reddit, so when someone posts something about a spoiler of a show or anything else with a picture on it, it will be blurred unless you click on the picture or the tweet itself and also make every hashtag from a tweet with a spoiler tag on it doesn't pop up or get into the algorithm of the trending page of Twitter. Therefore people can enjoy the show to the fullest.
you can mute hashtags on twitter tho
You're expecting idiots on _Twitter_ of all places to do that? They're just as likely to not put a spoiler tag _or_ place the hashtag.

Speaking of the fear of falling on the tracks, in Romania, where I am from, there's been a pretty massive case where at the metro station, a young girl got pushed on the tracks by another woman that was crazy, and then when she tried to get back up she was kicked and pushed by her back down and nobody had the time to react and help because the metro was just coming and she died on an instant. The woman didn't know her and she just thought she was someone else that she hated and because she was insane she did that and killed a stranger. Garnt repressed the memory of finding out his mum actually lied about where babies come from because it was too traumatic
I relate so hard to Connor right now. He's the friend who argues "Yes, I agree with you, but I'm saying if you can't change it then you have to change or accept this as a problem." He's not saying that this isn't a problem, he's saying that if you know it won't change, and you know that it's a problem, you have to chose to either accept it or change it. And he's experiencing what my friends do too by ignoring that he's saying Garnt and Joey are right. Sometimes you have to give up and watch a show live to avoid spoilers. Or ignore the show until later to watch it. It sucks, but it's how we live now in the on-demand world.
I feel like half the time one of the guys has a differing opinion, the other two just further agree with each other and argue with the guy by not listening or understanding him. :(

The solution to spoilers is to avoid social media, it's extreme but it is 99% effective, I would say 100%, but my friend who doesn't care about spoilers mentioned something offhand that was trending on twitter to me and my brain immediately knew what it was about

Same here,,, my reason for being okay for spoilers is that, at least I don't know how it happened.... But my friends don't like getting spoiled so I avoid spoilers as much
Same mate. I care more about how it happened. It's the journey that matters
I can't say I completely agree with the "If you have to put a spoiler warning don't post it" because you still want people who like the show to discuss this topic with you but you have enough courtesy to inform the ones who haven't watched it that "Hey, you might not wanna see this!"
Yeah I don't see what's the issue with that. They already did their duty by labelling spoilers. Telling other people to shut up just because its going to spoil things for you is kind of ridiculous.
The problem is the platform itself, saying something is a spoiler while posting it doesn't avoid what's being done in such an open, public space. For instance;
( [Spoiler] Such and such dies ) Where it's not hidden and is out in the open the moment it's presented to you. Labeling it as a spoiler practically has the opposite affect even as it draws more attention to it usually. Twitter just needs to implement the same kind of feature other discussion platforms have for [spoilers], it already has it for Explicit content after all.
and you can even blacklist tweets with the word spoiler in it so you don't see the tweets at all. Obviously some stuff will seep in from time to time but it seems pretty entitled to go on the platform which is built for people talking about relevant topics, to avoid talking about relevant topics. You should at least feel a little bit happier that people have the courtesy to put a spoiler warning
@@kb-ww1uw exactly, I couldn’t think of a word to describe that mentality but entitled does it perfectly. “I haven’t watched this episode, so you all can’t talk about it until I do”. Where’s the cut-off point? If Garnt for whatever reason wants to start watching AOT season 4 in 2022, nobody on Twitter can talk about it for another year?
@@kb-ww1uw I didn't know you could blacklist tweets like that, don't know how effective that'd actual be though. And I would agreed that it'd be an entitled stance for most people who's job doesn't revolve around interacting with their fanbases. A lot of comments I've seen on the video seem to think the guys can just 'not go on twitter', as if that's an easy solution for their problem here.
It'd be nice though just to see basic manners with this stuff apply to twitter as it does with everywhere else though (disregarding those who at least try to), or really just give users the ability to censor content they post like every other discussion platform. What kind of grace period on when people should just not care about spoiling something or not can be whole separate topic of debate on it's own, I'd personally agree with Connor's take on that though.

That is Creepy…
And it is giving Me Anxiety!
Tbh with spoilers, I literally just forget what I've been spoiled and still get surprised thankfully to my bad memory, so at least it's good for something...
Damn, this episode was crazier than when Ryuk ate Light Yagami halfway through Death Note
I remember how hard it hit when Light's Ryuk also bought a school building to reenact the promised neverland.
No guys it was worse when L took over Tokyo Tower and made everyone brawl to death to escape.
I know right. It's definitely crazier than when Misa took all the women hostage to be the last woman on earth
I haven’t watch death note n i have no idea if y’all r fuvking or are y’all talking real shit 🤡
@@44_RiN I feel bad for you man, such a good series you've been spoiled now
I mean the spoiler warning in tweets is like a middle ground, can’t stop ppl from talking about it but they can let you know that they’re talking about spoiler so you’re not lured in
Unless you're scrolling upwards
@@lrgogo1517 You can just blacklist/mute the word spoiler
bruh if the fucking crunchyroll comments section can have spoiler tags then idk why twitter cant
Imagine getting spoiled of a weekly anime show but you still want to go on social media when you know there are spoilers there and feeling angry about it
@@ShouheiSuzuki exactly lol.

The AoT talk makes me say it again: deleting twitter is one of the best decisions i made.
Garnt's first world problem of the week:
He can't enjoy his twitter time without getting spoilers about AoT
Garnt has his priorities straight. And I also have the same problem with UA-cam comments section for Attack on Titan Spoilers.
So I had to read the manga other wise I would have spoiled.
@@devilboy4877 dude the solution is so simple. Just don't read AOT comment sections and dont check twitter on mondays.... if you cant do that you probs have social media addiction
@@IWantToStayAtYourHouse There are always people talking about it that will always last for more than a week. The better solution would be something like the NSFW mark.
@@IWantToStayAtYourHouse But even on videos not related to Attack on Titan there are still spoilers. Like I am watching a show called Radiant on UA-cam but there is *X* character death spoiler of Attack on Titan. As for the social media I don't even have a account other than Instagram(Last used it a year ago) and WhatsApp only.
@@devilboy4877 I was literally spoiled on a goddamn Cooking video from Gordon Ramsay.
"My brother wouldn't let me out of the suitcase for like 10 minutes."
Dude, that's definitely traumatizing. 10 minutes is like an eternity in kid minutes.
I'd that happen to me I'm beating them brutality
Or was Connor talking about a kids 10 min?
When Connor said "Have you heard of this in cave in Utah?" my body instantly tensed up. I've heard about the Nutty Putty cave case too many times that I can recognize the cave just from only a single sentence.
Connor talking about playing pokemon in french reminds me of me playing Jump Ultimate Stars which was a party fighter with Shonen Jump characters that was only in japanese for the DS. With a little help from game FAQs I ended up literally memorizing what the characters meant so when a friend needed help completing their single player run I could cold just look at what it said and tell them everything they had to do to complete whatever mission they were on.
My brother used to make up fake spoilers, so I would watch stuff thinking I was being spoiled, and then what I was told never happened.
Everyone on the internet: Twitter is shit and you shouldn't go on it
Everyone else on the internet: So anyway I went on twitter
Thank you for not spoiling Code Geas. It is one of the many anime on my watchlist that I just haven't gotten to yet.
I love how it changes to death in a thin cave, then to hustling kids for yugioh and pokemon cards and then arguing about spoilers.
There is an easy and obvious solution when it comes to the spoilers and spoiling shit in Twitter honestly. Twitter and Facebook etc just needs to allow people to MARK spoilers in posts and tweets (and memes) so that before you can see the content of a tweet or post, you are explicitly warned that this shit will contain spoilers for so and so series. It's exactly how you have to intenrionally click on explicit media stuff before you can see anything about it. Forums have had this for years with spoiler tags, just allow it in posts and tweets and let the users label that it's a spoiler for this or that. That way most people can tweet explicitly about their reactions or feelings for an episode while at the same time knowing that only those who intentionally click on it will see it.
preach
Spoiler alert:
They talk about things that terrify them
That's not gonna work for tings that get on 'Trending'. And for things this viral, just like Endgame and Game of Thrones in their time, you really can't avoid it all unless you go on a blackout. To be honest, tho, if something can be spoiled, then it's really not worth watching; my favorite scenes and twists I love to watch unfold plenty of times. So when people get all heated ranting about spoilers when they walk into that wall routinely expecting for the wall to move it seems kinda bratty to me.
Also, do people even enjoy twitter? I don't even use it but it literally seems all people who do use it just hate it; spoilers, people arguing or getting backlash, all people do is go through shitty experiences on there, it seems.
1 problem with that, is people who intentionally will not set the spoiler tag.
Yeah true but probably not gonna happen also it’s kinda dumb of you to assume people will not talk about it just beacuse you want to binge it not watch it weekly
I agree with Connor on the Code Geass discussion. When a show becomes popular enough to the point where it becomes pop culture it's fair game.
*Everyone know at the end of Harry Potter, Harry turned into a magical unicorn and snapped Voldermort in half*
And Hermione turns into a chair
And ron went to pursue a music career
And Dumbledore spoke calmly
And someone turned into a boat
honestly i want a harry potter anime where this happens
"I AM flaccid, Garnt." legendary cut
What Joey said about demon Slayer is exactly why I can't find myself to be as hyped for the series as everybody else was. Every time I think about that show it just reminds me of seeing a picture or a video of that one scene from episode 19 and how much it actually took away from my whole experience because I was expecting it to happen instead of just seeing it happen randomly and that's why that show is only at 7 out of 10 for me
I have a fear of ladybugs because when I was little, my parents bought about 500 ladybugs to release in our rose garden to eat the aphids so she let me open the bag to release them and they ALL landed on me and it was so terrifying for some reason and for the rest of the day I just had ladybugs coming out of my clothes and hair. The trauma.
That's sounds like nightmare fuel l. It reminds me of that one hellish scene from constantine (the one with Keanu Reaves). Blegh
Reading everything else I went, "that does sound scary" but when I read the bit about ladybugs coming out of your clothes and hair, that just had me going, "shit I'd be traumatized too".
God , thats scary
Oh Fuck that sounds like a nightmare. I have a fear of insects and just imagining so many bugs landing on your body gives me anxiety. I would hate my parents if that happened to me.
Funny enough, Joey has already been spoiled on AoT when he went to that art exhibition.
Y'all just made my day!!
Connor talking about his Gameboy made me cram out my old Gameboy Advanced SP. Turns out, I had a really rare Pokemon Emerald Not for Resale cart in it.
Thanks for reminiscing
i was talking about endgame with my friend and someone walked by and got spoiled and i am still sad and guilty about that, dont know how people think it is acceptable to spoil stuff
Apparently nobody can talk about media if every single person hasn’t watched it. Sounds like a personal problem if you don’t watch it when it comes out
We are at a point in Trash taste where there are references to iconic previous trash taste episodes and I absolutely love it
The worst spoilers are the manga/light novel readers that think they're making some kind of cheeky, smart take by going
"You like that new character a lot huh? :) Wait until the next arc haha"
You're not being clever. You're just dangling a loincloth above your asshollery.
Seethe.
yeah, just don't spoil, just why
I've gotten to the point that when I glance over a comment that *feels* like its was a spoiler (you can tell by how its phrased) I switch to a different video that had nothing related to the previous video and as long as I don't dwell on it for a few days I completely forget it and actually get surprised when I get to that point in the show.
Its something I had to learn at my old job when I delt with crucial financial information and crap I rather not think on when I got home
@@andremartinez4411 seethe cope cope seethe beta cope seethe
The easiest possible solution is just putting a spoiler warning if you gonna talk about a spoiler, its 2 words before a post or at the start of the topic in a video. People can't just *not* talk about something. Its so easy to circumvent this issue.
I once got into trouble at school for pressing the, what's it called again, the thing you press when there is fire
High up glass floors like in Tokyo Tower probably have multiple layers of glass with sticky goop in between them, so even if they shatter they won't immediately give in and drop you
12:26 It’s actually a psychological phenomenon called *sensation-seeking*. There are a few therories about why some people become sensation-seekers but a popular one is that they are born with a naturally higher treshold of neuronal ‚arousal’ so they seek out these dangerous experiences in order to compensate for that.

Props to Mudan for splitting these episodes up into categories for timestamps lately
i was diagnosed with social anxiety in college and i've tried to think back to my childhood to see if there was a point that caused it and i can't think of anything. but when i do think back, i see all the 'symptoms' or signs that i've had it for as long as i can remember. it may be from some trauma that i've blocked out. the importance of childhood on people's futures also terrify me in terms of having children. i just don't think i could deal with that
Thats exactly what Ive gone through recently as well. Thinking back and seeing the symptoms of social anxiety and how it affected me as a child/teen, but in my case I know that it's 100% inherited. Most members of my family have had mental health issues and my siblings suffer from similar issues as I do. Not everything is caused by the environment you grow in and majority of people will get through life fine despite any trauma from childhood. How would we survive as a species otherwise? You cant prevent your child from experiencing bad things, but you can help them understand and deal with those things.
dud the thailand part that garnt mentioned is so true back when i had the psp i used to go a normal computer shop and they would have this book filled with games that we tell them to down and it was really cheap as well 5 games for 6$
