Hey, I'd love to start recording covers (with instrumentals from youtube etc) so which software would you recommend for recording vocals and harmonies?
Yo I got a question so I got the audacity and I recorded a podcast and when I downloaded the file it said I only had a demo version and that the full version cost and $60 a year every 10 seconds the system would say audacity demo with it now it’s audacity demo ruining the podcast why is that? I understand that the demo is free but the version you speak of is $60 a year
Audacity is a free program. It’s always been free. Maybe you got the download from somewhere other then their site?? There shouldn’t be anything telling you to pay. I’ve used it for years without being asked to pay.
Can you record the audio from a screen tho? i mean for example, lets say there is a sound in a video i find funny and i wanna record it, does that work?

@@AudioTechTV okay thanks for your answer, i want to record Only my sound and nothing more , and then add it to a video file , what application do you suggest me to use ? At the moment i am using Audacity because its the most simple one , i have OBS and Ableton , but i don’t want to record a music and i want the most simple vocal recorder to get some good voice from my sm7b , please help me 😰
You can use Audacity to record your voice. I’m not a fan of editing in audacity but it can be done. For me I use Steinberg Wavelab all the time now for recording and editing my SM7b plus I use Waves compression and eq plugins still. But I also still use Sound Forge Audio Studio when I’m recording with my MV51 mic just because it’s easy to have one program setup for 1 mic and the other setup for another mic. I can do the same editing in both programs and they both function almost the same. You can typically find Sound Forge Audio Studio on sale. I bought it from humble bundle for cheap. To mix my video and audio together I use Vegas Pro. I got it on humble bundle in the same package with Sound Forge. It usually goes for sale on there once or twice a year and I update whenever it’s on sale. You can use whatever programs work best for you. Great audio starts with great recordings. So if you’re having issues with your audio before you get to editing then you’re going to have a harder time in editing. With the SM7b mic I really recommend using a cloud lifter or Fethead inline preamp. Due to the high amount of gain needed for the SM7b most audio interfaces on their own will be maxed out if you’re just using the built in preamps. And when you crank the gain on some interface preamps it can get noisy or start to sound brittle. If you use a Fethead or cloudlifter it takes some of the burden off of the interfaces preamps and allows you to relax the gain to give you cleaner audio.
@@AudioTechTV Thank you for your help and your answer. I am using the Scarlett 2i2 (3rd gen) with my SM7B microphone. I also bought the CL-1 Cloudlifter, but when I plug it in, I hear a lot of hiss when the Scarlett's gain is set to 50 percent. It's quite frustrating, and I'm not sure why it's happening. Perhaps it's due to my room's acoustics. Anyway, now I'm using the Scarlett alone with almost 90 percent gain, and there is no hiss. Even at 100 percent gain, there is only a tiny bit of hiss. Now I'm considering buying the GoXLR to use directly with my SM7B. Do you think that would be enough? I have no idea if I should buy that or go for a big mixer with features like compressors and gates. I want to minimize post-production work and improve my sound while recording. Also, I'm unsure if I should get a dedicated hardware DAW device or use a DAW software application. When I mention a big mixer, I'm referring to one with multiple channels and features like compressors and gates. Can you recommend the GoXLR or the Rode Podcaster? Regarding mixing sound and video, do you always use Vegas Pro?" i really thank you for your answers

is there any videos in the market that teach a beginner , the first steps for recording ,then recording 16 track and mixdown etc ? i used to work with portable multitrack tascam ,roland, before .now a recording software is another level for me.but i am eager to learn.

I bought a fender mustang micro to record straight to my laptop but tracktion 7 isn't recognizing it and cake walk won't download is there not an easier way of recording even just one or 2 guitar tracks?
Because the mustang micro only does USB audio out and not in might be the issue why it’s not showing up. What you can do is try installing ASIO4all and then set it to use the micro as your input device and use whatever sound card you have as the output. So you would select ASIO4All as your audio device in your daw. I have a video on how to use it here ua-cam.com/video/4kuZsklrm-0/v-deo.html Asio4all is free. If you want to get cakewalk. You can try right clicking on the Bandlab assistant and running it as administrator then when you try to install cakewalk it should download.

I don't need a piano or drums thing and I don't even see how u could play a piano with a mouse clicker anyways cause piano takes more than one finger and the same with the drum sets I've seen.
@@willkeasling1526 sounds like there’s an issue with the driver installation of the mustang micro. You can try a different USB port and see if that helps. If not, connect it and go into your windows device manager to see if there are any errors in there. If there is an error with the mustang micro. Remove it from the device manager (right click on it and delete). Then try restarting your computer and plugging it in again. If there is a driver that you can download from fender’s website, grab that and install it but I think that device is just plug and play. If it’s not showing up on your computer right now it won’t matter what program you use, it won’t be able to see it until you get the driver installed correctly.

Hey, I looked your videos and decided to use Waveform T7 to record my Keyboard. But always when I try to start recording it says: couldn't record. Can you please say me the reason?
This doesn’t really give me too much information. Is it a midi keyboard that you are recording? If it is do you have an instrument plugin inserted as the first plugin on the track? Do you have the track armed for recording? Do you have your midi keyboard set as the input on that track? Is your midi keyboard setup correctly in Waveform? Does it work when you’re not trying to record?
@@AudioTechTV sorry, it isn't a midi keyboard. I have my Nord Stage 3 connected over my audio interface into the computer. When I play without recording the computer rekognizes the keyboard but I can't record it..
Sorry I just saw you said it says couldn’t record. Things to check would be the buffer length setting for your audio interface if you’re using the ASIO driver. Try increasing the size of the buffer. Make sure you have the correct input selected on the track that you’re recording to. But really it sounds like it might be a driver issue. Did you install the latest driver for your interface? Sometimes that can help.
@@AudioTechTV but when I have Input 1 selected and play some notes on my keyboard I see the green lines, so the computer detects the traces. Only if I press recording it says: couldn't record.. 🤔
How can Waveform be listed as "free", when you can't export the files you created unless you purchase the full version? Unless I'm missing something, that makes it totally useless and just a waste of time. No point of creating a project if you can't actually use the track.
If you download the trial of Waveform then maybe there are limitations. But if you download “Waveform Free” there are no limitations. It is a full DAW that doesn’t have any limitations it just doesn’t include some of the instruments and extra features that the pro version has. So Waveform Free is listed as free because it is free.
Check out 13 of the best free VST plugins in 2020 here ua-cam.com/video/Kg3ooIKpjus/v-deo.html
What scares me though is risking a virus or malware when it comes to Free Downloads.

Do you get an error that pops up? Or is it just not recording?
Sorry I just saw you said it says couldn’t record. Things to check would be the buffer length setting for your audio interface if you’re using the ASIO driver. Try increasing the size of the buffer. Make sure you have the correct input selected on the track that you’re recording to. But really it sounds like it might be a driver issue. Did you install the latest driver for your interface? Sometimes that can help.
@@AudioTechTV but when I have Input 1 selected and play some notes on my keyboard I see the green lines, so the computer detects the traces. Only if I press recording it says: couldn't record.. 🤔

We are looking for software that Wil transform this industry some how
How can Waveform be listed as "free", when you can't export the files you created unless you purchase the full version? Unless I'm missing something, that makes it totally useless and just a waste of time. No point of creating a project if you can't actually use the track.
If you download the trial of Waveform then maybe there are limitations. But if you download “Waveform Free” there are no limitations. It is a full DAW that doesn’t have any limitations it just doesn’t include some of the instruments and extra features that the pro version has. So Waveform Free is listed as free because it is free.
