Charlie Watts is the drummer whose reactions you were enjoying. That is just pure genuine joy in making music with lifelong friends. He passed away last year. RIP Charlie.
An interesting Stones song to listen to is "She's So Cold." The lyrics (and even the vocals, sorry Mick) are forgettable, but that INTRO. WOW. Charlie was FIRE.
Charlie Watts was the "Heartbeat" of the Stones! A accomplished Jazz Drummer, after World Tours with the Stones, playing before Hundreds of Thousands of Fans in Stadiums and Arenas, he would play in tiny Nightclubs and Pubs for a handful of people because he lived the Music. He was quite shy and the band would take great delight in making him Blush during Band Introductions to the Audience. He Always received the Biggest Applause from the Crowd, night after night when I worked with them at Giant's Stadium. I was truly saddened to hear he had passed. The End of an Era
As told by Bowie: "It was priceless. I’ve never seen anything so rebellious in my life. Some guy yells [at Jagger], ‘Get your hair cut!’ Mick says, and I will never forget these words, ‘What? And look like you?’ I thought, ‘Oh my God, this is the future of music!'”
Charlie Watts Looked like the "gentleman" in the group, but he came up with some of the most Iconic Drum beats in Rock history. RIP Charlie Watts. He was perfectly fine being the guy who was not the center of attention. His drumming spoke for him! He was a classy guy!
"the drummer" - The drummer is Charlie Watts - the English Gentleman who found himself in a rock and roll band for 50 years. Charlie was a clean-cut married man with children and a country estate where they raised horses. Charlie always thought Mick and Keith were over the top and happy to let them roll the band along while he kept to himself.
It's amazing that the Stones, McCartney, Ringo, Eric Burden, Dylan, Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Jackson Browne, etc., are still rocking today. It's like the song says; They started up and never stopped!
Start Me Up was a mega hit in 1981 & you’ve probably heard it in movies & commercials. This was he lead single from the album Tattoo You, which was compiled from leftovers from their previous albums recorded between 1972-1980. Tattoo You is arguably the Stones last truly great album. I strongly recommend checking out the 1972 concert film Ladies & Gentlemen,The Rolling Stones. It’s the band at its peak.
Iconic Stadium anthem classic! Most NFL teams used this song at home just before kicking off to start the game. Id recall when Bill Wyman left the group, it was a huge deal - and this was back in the early 90s!. And I believe Charlie Watts was smiling because the camera caught him off guard. (My favorite Stone!) RIP Charlie Watts And is it just me or does this song sound as if it wasnt produced; its as if we can hear Keith, Ron, Bill and Charlie's raw talent in this song. (especially Keith Richards' guitar)
Now this is true rock genius. Rolling Stones are the epitome of what rock n roll is. They had some incredible songs that are so complex, like Angie, Sympathy for The Devil, Beast of Burden, Gimme Shelter!!!!!! Get into it; you haven't even scratched the surface with them.
Microsoft used this song in one of its commercials. That might be where you've heard it, but it has been used a lot over the years. Another great song from this album is 'Waiting On a Friend.' The drummer, the late Charlie Watts, always reminded me of the big brother that mom sent out with the younger siblings to make sure they didn't get into trouble.
Microsoft paid $3 million for the rights to use it for their Windows 95 launch. That product was a big deal in Microsoft history. It also was (supposedly] the first time a big music hit was licensed like this.
80's Stones at their rocking best. "Waiting on a Friend" was the other big hit from 'Tattoo You' and "Worried About You" is one of several other highlights. Outside of this album, some other top Stones songs from this period are "She's So Cold", "Let Me Go", "Emotional Rescue", "Going to a GoGo", "Undercover of the Night", and "She Was Hot".
Such a great tune... brings me right back to being a kid!!!! To this day, my brother and I imitate the smiles/smirks between Charlie Watts (drums) and Bill Wyman (bass)... we crack up every time!!!
I seem to remember Charlie referring. to the 3 in front as "Peter Pan" and the lads. I would suggest doing "Sister Morphine-live in ( I think) Argentina.( 'The one time I've seen Charlie Watts looking positively grim) Someday for a female Friday for a country day, or just for you to listen to might be another Williams, Jett Williams (Daughter of Hank SR)" doing soft Place To Fall"-her story is quite interesting.-
My dad got a 1st-gen Miata, and had to wait 3 months for it. The day he picked it up, he turned on the radio and the opening chords of this song began! That was the beginning of many automotive adventures for both of us!
Keith Richards at his best! I was lucky enough to see several shows on this tour. Keith is the riff king, creating that icon riff and oh so many more. The Rolling Stones are band in the true sense of the word. Every member is important to that sound.
This song was HUGE in '81, it became the song The Stones opened all their concerts for years (I saw them 4th row at Vet Stadium in Philly in 1988...2nd best concert I ever saw (#1 was Bruce and the E St Band in 1984)).
Steel Wheels was HUGE! We built and took down the staging at Giant's and Shae Stadiums and the last North American show in Atlantic City at the Convention Center. They had 3 complete steel scaffolding stage systems on the Tour, one that they would be playing on, one being built at the next Venue and one being transported. Just for lights, sound, scenery, catering, merchandising etc. they had over 100 tractor trailers! The stage was so high, that we were required to mount aircraft warning lights on the towers because they were in the Kennedy,LaGuardia and Newark airspace. Even with all the expenses they profited about $750million for the Tour. We used over 200 climbers to build and strike the stage. On "Bridges to Babylon" 10 years later, we only used 12 climbers and a crane!
@@robinreiley1828 I remember wondering how much work went into setting it all up when they played Honky Tonk Woman and the inflatable woman came out on top of the scaffolding!!
@@billiam8554 It took a solid week of 16-18 hour days to erect all the steel.None of the Local Crews had anywhere near enough Skilled Climbers to build it by themselves. The Stones would usually Tech( first build and Technical Rehearsals) out West, in Las Vegas or Phoenix and some of the Local Union Stagehands would follow the show, city to city hoping to get work. The Road Crew from Up Front Steel who designed and supplied the staging would put in a good word for the Climbers, glad to have experienced help who knew the build. It's not that many Pro Climbers in the Business, we all get to know each other on big shows, like the Stones, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Grateful Dead, U2, and of course, the 94 and 99 Woodstock builds, which were each a solid 5 to 6 weeks of High Steel work.
Everyone knows the riff, but the bass and drums in this song are a masterclass in rock AND roll. They just bring that swing that is always missing from heavier music.
Such a great song, and from what I understand, most of the band were at least 3 sheets to the wind for the shoot. Excellent reaction!! You can never go wrong with the Stones. They are legendary.
This song has always been my favorite Stones track followed by "Miss You" "Emotional Rescue" & "She's So Cold" I love the late 70's / early 80's period of The Rolling Stones!
The Rolling Stones may have started out in the 60s but they Rock the 70s and 80s and are still Rocking out today. This is one of their 80s hits, one of many from that decade.
This was from the Tattoo You album in 1981 that also brought their North American Tour. This was the time I became a true Stones Fan. I was 8 years old. I wasn’t able to see them then but did see them in 1989 and in 1993. Start Me Up is always a crowd favorite. As they say ‘we will never never never stop!’ Rolling Stones forever!!!
I've seen The Stones many times and they get better with every tour. They are genius with their opening act choices! The last concert that I saw in Buffalo had St. Paul and The Broken Bones open. What a fabulous night!!
Fun trivia --- The Rolling Stones are the band that snagged this new young artist to be their opening act... Prince open up for them in 1979... Prince got boo'd off the stage, and went back to Minnesota... and Mick.. called him up and convinced him to come back on the tour and keep going
This whole album is great, I especially like the beautiful Waiting on a Friend. From a different album, I also love Emotional Rescue -very cool and different. Thanks for this fun reaction!
MICK JAGGER SINGING I CANT GET NO SATISFACTION LIVE AT GLASTONBURY IS AN ABSOLUTE MASTER CLASS OF A PERFORMANCE OF A MAN IN HIS 70s AND SO WORTH WATCHING.

Since i was 12 years old i,ve loved the Stones and i still do. Soon i,m 70. They have i kind of humour and distance to themselves at the same time as they are taking their music deadserious. I find that very attractive.
The “Tattoo You” album brought the Stones back into the limelight, (Rush reference), they went on to tour in 80-81’, made a ton of money, brought back the blues rock sound from their roots. The whole album is ridiculously perfectly produced. ‘Heaven’ track 9, listen to that one off airwaves of you tube. Loving the content, great reaction channel
What's still amazes me I've been a rolling Stones fan since I'm 10 years old ,it was 1974, the first song I heard was hand of fate off the black and blue album and they've been relevant my entire life. I'm now 58 years old and they were ready together for 12 years before I discovered them completely. These dudes are grandfathers maybe even great-grandfathers and they're still rocking. I don't think you'll ever see in your lifetime another band that stays together for the most part for over 60 years. And mick can still sing. I've seen them live in concert in the 70s 80s 90s 2000s 2010s and 2020s. When I really think about it it blows my mind. To put it in perspective they started playing as a band professionally when JFK was president!! Simply amazing! Love your guys channel and Amber swaying to the groove that the stones layed down. I love it!!
"The World's Most Dangerous Band", Mick and the boys were once called. You should check out their song "Undercover Of The Night", that one's definitely a banger....
An incredible string of amazing hits from 1964 to 1982, and this was the last bona fide hit. And include great albums followed by still more music and great live concerts around the world. Truly a one of a kind performance history.
This song was licenced for use in a commercial for the release of Microsoft Windows 95. Commentators found endless jokes about the lyrics about, "You make a grown man cry." This was after Bill Gates introduced the operating system on stage at a computer convention and immediately got a blue screen of death when the operating system crashed.
I saw The Stones in Cleveland in '81 and they opened with this song...lights went out...the opening riff rings out...BOOM! flash pots go off...the lights come on...a memorable start!
Love me some stones!! I saw them in 1994 the voodoo lounge tour and it was AMAZING!! Best concert EVER! People from all Walks of life and aged from 9-90 😊
He's still rocking at 76. My era, another great one is Level 42 the song Something about you is fire!! The bass player is the best slap bassist out there. Check them out. 😁😘
Actually, the Ed Sullivan Show producers DID tame Jagger. They didn't force him to sing to a dog like they did with Presley. However, they did make him change the song LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER into LET'S SPEND SOME TIME TOGETHER, and he did it. A few years later, they tried to force Morrison to change the words to LIGHT MY FIRE when the Doors guested. Jim agreed to change, "Girl, we couldn't get much higher" into "Girl, we couldn't get much better". He didn't. He actually accentuated the word "higher", and leaned into the camera. Ed Sullivan stomped into their dressing room and told them they would never play his show again. Cool as a cucumber, Morrison replied, " We just did."
This was a big hit and there are so many others to check out - like "Little Red Rooster" or "Waiting on a Friend". I love watching you guys react to good stuff - especially the Stones. Puts a smile on my face every time! ❣
You've done 14 Stones songs, and I just noticed, you've only done two from the 80s... this, and "Hang Fire". I hope you will continue to do more from this decade, as it's often overlooked for their earlier stuff. My personal favorite 80s Stones song is "Undercover of the Night", which is a total banger. "Harlem Shuffle" is also fantastic, as is "Rock and a Hard Place". RIP Charlie Watts, one of the best drummers of all time.
You are correct, sir. I loved Undercover of the Night from my first listen when the album came out. I have been perplexed why it was never elevated to the status of a Stones classic.
There is a reason for that. Their 80's & onward stuff is junk! Don't forget to RIP Brian Jones and Keith Richards.. 0h that's right! Richards isn't really dead, He just looks it!
Oh yeah, Move like Jagger...Such a fun and epic group...They always have amazing stage presence that ability to capture u. Thanx so much, take care, Peace
" Can You Hear Me Knocking " 👅🎸. Ronnie Wood plays 🎸 with practically everyone . He played with Rod Stewart , Eric Clapton . He also played with Eric Clapton at his " Live At The Rainbow " show .
You’ve heard the riff at dozens of sports events. Along with Welcome to the Jungle and Thunderstruck. Bleacher Report has it at number 5 on their list. It’s one of the most recognizable pieces of music in rock!
Amber, that huge smile made me cry tears of joy. I laughed at y'all laughing at Jagger. My buddy Cliff was Jagger's doorman in NY when this album came out. I had a chance to go see Micks house while he was gone but didn't make the trip. My buddy Chip and my buddy Skeeter (RIP) also know the Stones. Oprah once spilled a beer on Skeety at a Stones show in Chicago. Charlie Watts was too cool for dem fools...
This came out when I was a kid. I had no idea what it was about….until now. Lol. Jk. I also think it’s funny that it looks like they spent $5 on the making of this video.😂
The other guitarist whose face you recognized is Ronnie Wood who joined in 1975 and officially a member in 1976. He was previously famous for being a member of the Faces who played with Rod Stewart and before that with the Jeff Beck Group.
This song was The Rolling Stones' biggest hit song of the 1980s. The song peaked at the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the fall of 1981. They also had the #1 album around the same time. The album was called Tattoo You. A great song and a banger song indeed!!!
My first Stones concert was the Steel Wheels tour. They started with Start me up. My next was 30 years later they ended with Start me up. It connected big time. They're still amazing.
Hey Rob! What's up! Amber, ❤❤. Rob is a lucky man. The kids are really beautiful. Glad you like the Stones. Really appreciate you. Peace out ✌️ . There is only one Stones. So fun.
Charlie Watts was never super flashy, just very consistent. While the other members post their minds Charlie was cool, calm and collected. R.I.P. Charlie. I got a chance to see them in this tour, Boulder, Colorado, great show. Thanks for this memory.
Charlie Watts is the drummer whose reactions you were enjoying. That is just pure genuine joy in making music with lifelong friends. He passed away last year. RIP Charlie.

Right -I could name that song after the first 3 notes -LOL.
Isn't that there only song from the 80s
1981
Loved this then. Love it still.
I saw this tour in 1981 at Madison Square Garden… what a great show

Other 80's Stones gems: "She's So Cold" "Hang Fire" "She was Hot" "Mixed Emotions" "Between a Rock and a Hard Place"
"Emotional Rescue" would be a good one to add to the queue too.
I'd add "Waitin' on a Friend" to the eighties list.
And "Undercover (of the Night).
All good picks
Undercover of the Night! Although idk if that was late 70s or 80s
The Stones are such an iconic band. My favorites of theirs are Wild Horses, Brown Sugar, Emotional Rescue and sympathy for the devil

Very cool song.
Mick is like a caricature of himself in this. Hysterical. And Charlie is always so amused.

Mick Jagger is almost 80 yrs old. He stays in shape but he is an old man..
They looked like old men when they were young.
"Can't You Hear Me Knockin"
'She's so Cold' is a good one too.
AMAF, I'm going watch it after this.
This was a big hit and there are so many others to check out - like "Little Red Rooster" or "Waiting on a Friend". I love watching you guys react to good stuff - especially the Stones. Puts a smile on my face every time! ❣
Waiting on a friend
Jagger is like a drug. Once he draws you in your hooked. Lifelong fan since 60's.
The next single from this album was awesome too.- " waiting on a friend". Completely different type of song, almost country.
Saw the Stones in concert and he is just like that on stage. Gotta give him props for doing his own thing.
Rolling Stones "Anybody seen my baby" (original video with Angelina Jolie) ❤️
They’ve got a new CD coming out this February “Grrr Live”.
Can't argue with any of those picks.
How about his duet with MJ, State of Shock?!
You are correct, sir. I loved Undercover of the Night from my first listen when the album came out. I have been perplexed why it was never elevated to the status of a Stones classic.
And Terrifying, Almost Hear you Sigh.
I always chuckle at how Mick struts like a peacock. But he pulls it off. Larger than life. One of the few true rock gods we have left.
They've played that opening riff at kickoffs of football games for years.
The album cover for the album that this song comes, *TATTOO YOU* , from is Iconic
ANGIE!❤️
" Can You Hear Me Knocking " 👅🎸. Ronnie Wood plays 🎸 with practically everyone . He played with Rod Stewart , Eric Clapton . He also played with Eric Clapton at his " Live At The Rainbow " show .
You’ve heard the riff at dozens of sports events. Along with Welcome to the Jungle and Thunderstruck. Bleacher Report has it at number 5 on their list.
It’s one of the most recognizable pieces of music in rock!
So glad you noticed Drummer Charlie Watts. I get so tickled when he starts laughing. Like , oh lord, what's he doing now?!
Mick is fire, as always!!
Waiting On A Friend is a must off off this album.
That opening riff is played before the kickoff of virtually every football game.
You guys have to react to the original video to The Harlem Shuffle by the Stones. You’ll love it!
OMG !!!!!! One of their best ,this song makes me want to dance!!!!! AMAZING Vocal from Mick!!!!
First 🥇✌️🤓
The most adorable couple on youtube....you are so lucky to have found each other! Many years of love and happiness, from an old married guy.
Best last sentence ever (sung twice): “You make a dead man come.”
The Stones are absolutely incomparable! And this song live is a catarse ❤
This song was my intro to the Stones when I was growing up. Good fun song, glad you liked it.
saw a lot of concerts. Stones were the best. He is absolutely nonstop. Mesmerizing presence
Love that last line “you’d make a dead man come”😂
I was waiting to see if they registered what he was singing! 😂
Love how jagger moves like you said he's a free spirit he doesn't care
The other guitarist whose face you recognized is Ronnie Wood who joined in 1975 and officially a member in 1976.
He was previously famous for being a member of the Faces who played with
Rod Stewart and before that with the
Jeff Beck Group.
This song always makes me think of my Dad. He used to dance around the living room doing his Mick Jagger impression whenever this song came on.
Charlie.... Ah what a guy!!! The glue of the band. Rip Charlie❤️
One of my all time favorite songs. I was waiting for you to do this one...lol. Great reaction🙂
She’s like a rainbow, rolling stone…lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
Hey Rob! What's up!
