The rounded top bolts are called carriage bolts. Love the bed project. Laughed hysterically at the makeshift work stand fail. Reminded me of times I’ve done the same thing.
* Cool ! You got the light I sent you for Christmas ! I was worried the porch pirates got it. Thanks for the entertainment this year Mr. Anderson. I sent those to each of my four favorite sites this year. Those are great lights. Cheers Buddy and Happy Holidays to you and Laura and the family. (Paul) 🎄
I like that you are using this truck to actually do truck things now and then. Too many people turn pickups into trailer queens these days. Looking forward to many more videos of the pickup, as well as Mabel.
I'm a fan of "character" especially if it was done 50+ years ago. Then again, I'm not a shiny paint guy either so there's that... PS - @29:05 couldn't agree more.
paint used motor oil to protect it. Burn it with a blow torch. It will srink 3/16 each side when dried out. You could weld in one Ince square tube in the gaps. Let go rusty. Maybe needs some arty box. Carry a jack tow rope tools. Old coke fridge cut up. 👍👍☃️🇬🇧 great job. Maybe weld some 3/4 rebar around skid plate. Or some sacrificial rub bars. Make some sparks. 😂. Happy new year.
14:23 the hood ornament broke off Edna a whike back, so we did a couple videos cutting out the metal on the hood and weldlding in a patch. Since Edna is a patina truck everyone said the leave the patch visible because its part of her story now. Which was a great way to look at it. So we gound down the welds and left the patch for all to see
OIW, ur engineering metal bars worked great getting the front end aline. the rail and wood for the bed worked-out cool. have a couple of beers on me Mate.
Nice job on the fabrication of that skid plate. One more place to stop oil leaks from hitting the garage floor. Thats a lot better than Bigee Crane and Rigging did with their Hyster fork lift that was leaking oil. They had a huge piece of plastic hanging down that collected the oil that leaked from the oil pan. they were too lazy to change the gasket and just kept working that Fork Lift to death. Thanks for the video and Have a Happy New Year
I might save one of my favorite old "Fixes" but I like the clean old lines of the body and those fenders need some work. I'm with you on the hood fit too. Good idea to fix the wheel base. I've seen and driven old trucks you could see all 4 tires from the back.
If you fixed the fenders and left them bare like you did your old 40 ford it would look good. Right now it looks like a rat rod hybrid. Still a good looking very desirable truck. Your upgrades are flawless. Good job.
thanks for all the entertainment this year mate .. best videos on UA-cam. merry christmas and a happy new beer to all the Anderson clan .. take care and cheers from Down Under🍻🤘
First off, Merry Christmas to you and yours! Also, in case you aren't aware, but I bet you are, when putting down decking, make sure the bark side of the board is up. That way, as it dries, it will arch up instead of cupping and holding water.
There’s a 53 Chevy truck sitting over at my grandparents place across the road from me. I’m hoping one day I can merge that one with my 6.0 LQ9 and 4l65 out of my 2000 Silverado..
merry christmas to you and the wife...and thanks for the years vids I use old sump oil to finish woodwork for outdoor use..looks good and enviro friendly, cos I know you like that ;-)
Very cool 🤙 for stain application use a wool pad or rag wax on wax off much easier. A roller is a pain you have to completely soak it then it's messy. You can burn the wood a skiff for darker grain definition. I'd hit it with a clear of some sort first couple coats of stain don't last long. You could also hit hit with clear stain 2-3 more times then it'll last for a few years. If not you have months before it fads
Unless you decide to fully body restore it I would leave the patch panels as they are. Part of its history. Try and find a cover for the torque converter although your skid plate will protect it.
Going into the hospital for 10 days and will be not able to work for 3 -4 months so I'm going to watch all your videos from the start ! I'll have a little time too!!haha I'll be living vicariously through you!! Cheers
I only see the flaws. I can do something and not see 99% of it and only see the 1% I screwed up. But to me that’s part of it. In reality I’m only trying to impress myself.
The rounded top bolts are called carriage bolts. Love the bed project. Laughed hysterically at the makeshift work stand fail. Reminded me of times I’ve done the same thing.
Thank you.
The fun part of a hot rod pickem up truck, all the little projects to get it safe and drivable. Keep that patina!

Thanks Paul. You're a good man. Thank you. Definitely needed and appreciated
@Theoldironworkshop Anytime Lee. Thanks for the entertainment. 👊😎👍

Truck looks really cool. The Frankenstein scar on the fender arch just "belongs". Auto archeology. Have a great Christmas and New Year
Great video and beautiful work. Crazy how small old trucks were compared to modern day ones !
Yeah no kidding. I need to slim down a bit to fit better
@Theoldironworkshop 🤣🤣🤣
YAH .yah. yah .yah. I laughed my ass off, on those horses. take it easy there cowboy! love your work. Merry Christmas!
Bahaha. Yeah I love them but still a pain

Master of Sparks/ZZ TOP
Hmm that sounds like a good idea

It ain’t crazy if it works. a forklift diaper
Bed looks really great with stain on it. Good job.
Thank you!

Yeah I’ve seen those. Heck I’ve owned those
If you fixed the fenders and left them bare like you did your old 40 ford it would look good. Right now it looks like a rat rod hybrid. Still a good looking very desirable truck. Your upgrades are flawless. Good job.
I got plans
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I believe those bolts are called Carriage bolts.
Great job all the way around.
Yes the old age. Although different countries different names
@Theoldironworkshop Copy that.
Have a great Christmas.
You could lose a whole bucket full of 10mm sockets in that bed. Looks good though. See you on the next one.😎🇺🇸😎
thanks for all the entertainment this year mate .. best videos on UA-cam.
merry christmas and a happy new beer to all the Anderson clan .. take care and cheers from Down Under🍻🤘

Yeah, gotta stay cheap! Got 2 kids in college.
Low rent, love it! Love the way the pit bull obeyed you, he left just like he was told. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.

Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too.
Nice work there and I expect it feels better on the road now with all the wheels pointing the same way!
Yeah no kidding

Better use marine paint. 😮
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year, you are the right guy to get that truck in tip top shape in no time. 🍺🍺🍺
Hola saludos desde CDMX de 🇲🇽👍🤟, Feliz navidad 🎄🎄🎄 y próspero año nuevo 👍🤟🎄🇲🇽
I prefer the term 'no class' to low rent thanks buddy.
Fair enough.
I’d suggest keep those vintage riveted scars but cover them as you can with your Old Iron Workshop graphic (logo) to cover each as you prefer.
I friend of mine bought a car that was destroyed in a fire. He just rubbed oil on it and drove it.
@ why not!
It's great to see you
Truck is looking great.
Merry Christmas to you and the family
Looks like a nice truck. Good luck
Your ADD has my support!! Happy holidays!
I seen some old fixes from the fortys. They used rivites. Id pull the pops and dolly rivets in. Pop rivets are 70s/80s. 👍👍☃️🇬🇧..
More videos next year, please. Happy new year😮
It's a goal. Not a easy goal, but a goal nonetheless
I really like your truck. Happy New Year
Happy new year! Me too
The Bet Guinness I ever had state side was at the harbor in Boston!
man I love Boston could walk around for weeks looking at stuff
Unless you decide to fully body restore it I would leave the patch panels as they are. Part of its history. Try and find a cover for the torque converter although your skid plate will protect it.
Yeah definitely need a cover
Happy Christmas from cheshire in the UK 🇬🇧 cheers
Same to you!
Awesome 👍
bigger diameter wheels, nice ride
The truck is looking sweet! Merry christmas to you and laura! Cant wait to see what the new year brings!! Cheers
Merry Christmas to you too. I hope the new year brings you lots of great projects too.
Going into the hospital for 10 days and will be not able to work for 3 -4 months so I'm going to watch all your videos from the start ! I'll have a little time too!!haha I'll be living vicariously through you!! Cheers
Merry Christmas
Bah Humbug. Haha, I’m just kidding.
@Theoldironworkshop haaaahaaaa do feel that way sometimes ha,ha
Merry Christmas to ya brother. Love the videos.
Thanks man! Merry Christmas to you too.
Merry Christmas Lee
Merry Christmas! to you as well. hope all is good with you
@Theoldironworkshop still alive so can't complain.
Merry Christmas and Happy new Year!!!🎄🎄🎄🎄
Same to you!
What they said. 🍻😎
Merry Christmas to you and yours
Greetings from Texas, thank you very much and a Merry Christmas to you as well
Hm. Should of had a few drinks before hand. You are capable of so much more. We all have bad hair days
It matches the rest of the truck , aged .
That’s the idea
Leave the old repairs,it adds character. My ‘48 f1 has similar repairs from years gone by,doesn’t really detract from its function or appearance.
Fix fenders on the outside but leave the patch on the inside
I would fix the fenders
The fenders need to be fixed, or get new fenders for the truck and use the fenders for wall hangers either the tailgate.
I got a new gate and stake pockets. Actually I have extra front fenders as well
like 98 !
If you could deal with the pain lifting the motor and trans would be ideal,or you could raise the front ride height up a little.
I’m actually going to put a little larger tire on the front. That will help a bit
@@Theoldironworkshop yes that will help and the stance won't change too much either.
Uhhhh, you're gonna lose all your grain & seed corn hauling with that bed floor! Looks good though.
That’s the idea. Never have to clean it
Leave the patina on the car. It looks cool and can’t be reproduced!
I probably missed something. Where is the Hearse?
It’s on deck
🙏👍👍😎
I wonder . . . Do you 'write yourself notes' about all those little things, or do you remember them, or re-recognize those flaws, or ...??
I only see the flaws. I can do something and not see 99% of it and only see the 1% I screwed up. But to me that’s part of it. In reality I’m only trying to impress myself.
Well fuck I guess I made a tunnel cover lmfao 😂
That is called a carriage bolt
@9:35 mouse runs down left side of driveway.
Ha! Eyes like a hawk
Low Rent? Check! Merry Christmas!!!
It’s not low rent, it’s just cheap, haha.
@Theoldironworkshop I was referring to myself as low rent. LoL
you ever hear of bigger wheals and tires to lift front up??? dude
It’s in the works
Leave it
No more the Hearse??
I’m pulling the trans out this week. Then I’m hoping to do some road trips in it this year
@@Theoldironworkshop Had me worries!!! Couple of weeeks...... NOTHING!!! Good news! Merry Christmas!
Fix it
Yor last 3 videos just come up as a black screen with audio.
Really?
Definition of rat rods.. can't afford to fix it and don't know how to fix it ... merry Christmas guys ..🇨🇦🇨🇦
Haha truth
