I’ve played the shit out of this game and am 1 trophy away from plat. Me personally I love the grindy trophies, and with the addition of NG+0 can keep replaying. People have their complaints about this game and they’re not wrong, but I still think it’s such a brilliant game and world. Wish the melee was a little more extensive, the special moves mostly suck. Ashes would have been cool

It's the moment you spent staring at the edge of the cliff before jumping off for me lmao. I couldn't agree more with your insights on the sound design - those little details can truly make or break the gaming experience. 😄 The struggle is real with those sneaky boss fights , where they runaway the whole fight. Talk about frustrating! I've been there in too, it's the worst! All great points were made. Especially when it came to the sound design. I agree with the sound of the two buckets when you raise the sword to perform the perfect parry. lol. Now I can't unhear it lol.🎮 It's awesome how you highlighted these points, helping gamers make smarter decisions about where to invest their time and money. Kudos to the great content! 👏 Thanks for sharing your thoughts and making the gaming community more aware! 🔥

Sound truly is such an important part of any game and the games that are masterpieces have the best sound design.
Coward bosses truly are the worst to deal with.
Sounded like I was fighting with two buckets being raises, drove me nuts in the Lets play.
Thank you for the comment and Im glad you enjoyed my review!

Was a fun game, but the frustration in being just completely lost on what to do/go was very real. Souls game like you said dont spoon feed the story or objective, but the NPCs usually give decent clues to search for. I got to a point on my first run where I had no clue where to go next because a gate that definitely looked perma blocked by world terrain just needed to be walked up to and interacted with. lots of potential but it flopped in delivery and execution imo. Would be interested in seeing what this studio does in the future after experimenting with this game.

As generally an optimist, your points are fair and mostly on point as opposed to many review assassins. Sadly, From Soft will be gone, one day and we need to inspire Developers to keep creating off their foundation. Comparing Miyazaki's work constantly, CAN lead to a closed mind. I believe the Soulslikes ARE getting better. Great Work on this Review! Thanks

I saw a negative video about LotF and I was ready to spam some hate because hate should only receive more hate. But I'm glad that your video was much more balanced than 99% of the other hater youtubers, it shows maturity imo
I am glad that what you enjoyed you really enjoyed it and mentioned it!
I can't agree more about the density of enemies and I'm glad you timed this part with the fairy on the island of Pilgrim's Perch. This was the worst part in the game for me :D Also yeah, the combat is quite floaty
Although I disagree about inferno being OP. It is, but only in late game. Up until Spurned Progenny it's pure agony because everything has fire resistance.
I actually liked Hushed Saint a lot, it was easy to master, even though a little tedious, but it felt nice mastering it.
Sound was kinda bad but it didn't ruin the experience for me. The OST was fantastic though
As a fellow Sekiro player (blasphemy but it's my favorite FromSoft game) though... I loved the parry mechanic. I think the game in general provided me with a ton of variety in combat - mixing weapon stances in combos, parrying, blocking, dodging.
I understand the criticism when it's not as blunt as with other reviews "this game sucks", but personally I enjoyed it a lot. I wanted Dark Souls-like game for a long time, because as much as I loved Elden Ring, its open world lost the magical feeling of these games for me. I really enjoy the tension of more tight corridors and fighting locations, having to fight through enemies with no option to escape on a horse on 1hp. So this game gave me this but improved the DS formula for me personally. Another blasphemy, but I loved that the weapon attacks are faster this time, yes, the commitment is less I guess, but being able to attack fast, dodge, parry (again parry has less commitment just like Sekiro, but I love it because it still requires some mastery, timing, etc.)
To me Elden Ring is the biggest scope most "perfect" souls-like game, but lost me a little with its beautiful open world.
Dark Souls 3 was so good, I loved how the player had to learn the new enemy types every single time when exploring a new area (e.g. irithyll dancers), obviously it's more refined and much better than LotF, but I am enjoying LotF more just because it improves on many things I've ever wanted in these games (the Sekiro parry, shields to not have 100% block, spells to not be cycleable but with hotkeys). One big negative in LotF for me personally is that weapons within the same category have the same movesets, while in DS3 for example Claymore has a unique poke attack that other greatswords donn't have. But again, this game is much smaller scope and much smaller dev team, so it's expected, but I can agree that $40 would have been a better price considering the scope compared to FromSoftware. But again, FromSoftware are genre defining, it's not fair to compare other games to them. At the end of the day, games are just business even for FromSoft, I think this studio did the genre justice with all of its problems - I can see that they understand the formula really well. The studio was founded in 2020, the publisher produced a terrible game in 2014, the impossible happened, the stars aligned for this game, so it ended up being this good. I was 100% sure that this was going to be really bad, but somehow it ended up being much better than Lies of P ime. Both great games tho, I'm glad that non-fromsoft studios are making soulslikes of this level
My personal rating is around 9/10 for its scope. It's hard to rate the game in the grand scheme of things and games with higher scope, but they for sure improved a lot over the "high scope" games, but lacked scope to refine it even further which I'm fine with. The other souls-like game I enjoyed a lot but received a massive backlash was Darksiders 3. But Darksiders 3 is still around 7 for me, just not as bad as people who haven't played it think it is. Darksiders 3's budget is $38M. Lords of the Fallen's developmental budget is $66M. FromSoft games are in the hundreds, but neither Sony, nor Bandai ever released the scope publicly.
Sorry for the rambling, I felt like sharing my thoughts since the video was an outlier to the latest hate videos about the game. FWIW I highly recommend the game :D I think there's a lot to enjoy about the game, just wait for the upcoming Winter Steam Sale. If it's $40, go for it!

Your main problem was you were comparing it to dark souls too much.. I'm thinking about getting this game, as they've come far compared to the original game in 2014.
I assume you've never played it.. since you never mentioned it as you were too busy comparing it to dark souls 😅 if you want a true souls experience just stick with souls.
I never look for a direct copy of souls.. devs are free to put their own spin on it.. just look at Nioh and Wo Long, both great games imo. Obviously, games are subjective, but you're too focused on dark souls 😅

Everyone saying the spell cycle system is bad is retrded. In dark souls, you are allowed to hold about 8 or more spells. This allows you to have pretty much any ability you want in the game at all times, and it adds depth in the fact that now you have a game system you can grind out to allow you to enjoy, and play the game for a reason. The argument that you should be locked to 3 abilities, or have an ability button is just fkn retrded, because they already have that in the fkn game, its called weapon arts, and duel weilding. you either never played dark souls or your just reading a script. Because if more games had a spell slider, they would be improved by 40% on that day. Games like apex would widely benefit from having an ability slider, pretty much any shooting game with abilities, and inventory wheels would be improved with an ability slider. yall just sound so fkn stupid saying that something that adds a large amount of depth and tactic to a game, is outdated, your trolling, go do something you actually understand in life, gaming isnt it.

Hey man, don’t know who hurt you but I’m just here to play and enjoy games 😃 we all have different preferences. But I am a souls guy just check my channel. Beat them all. Love Fromsoft! I just thought the spell buttons in lords of the fallen was pretty fun to use for a change was all.

    • @rush-ingaming3341
      @rush-ingaming3341 10 місяців тому

@@shawnfausey I don't care, calling the abillity cycle through system outdated is wild. If more games had it, it would improve many things in a lot of games. All it is, is a weapon wheel, but you press one button to cycle through it, and another button to use the ability you are hovering over. Like imagine if games such as halo adopted this system, but for suits, and each suit had a cool down, a different melee weapon, maybe a different gun. It would add an entire depth never before seen in the halo franchise. u-u its not an "outdated" system, you simply do not understand the potential and full use of this very simplified game mechanic. You used to have to press x y xxxyx up down if you wanted to do simple abilities. And pressing different input combinations like rt + x, or y, or a, or b. Just severely limits what you can actually do in a game. The entire entertainment value of games has greatly diminished after they decided to go with these kinds of systems, instead of things like this "outdated" ability cycle system. Because they want to make everything an e sport, or a movies with paid actors instead of just making movies and its all just too limited to even be actual competition, as well as being more open to lag, and delay because of how many buttons you have to press, and the speed a computer/console can actually register what you pressed. Good day to you sir, I hope your fingers cramp up next time you play your favorite game that requires you to press too many buttons because of bad game design. Maybe then you will understand why the devs at fromsoft would decide on making the abilities work like that. There are tons of problems within games from developers trying to change up systems that actually solve multiple problems within the game design realm, just so they can make something new for scrubs. And they either revert it, or leave it broken then we all have to play a "game with potential" instead of a game that human beings sat down and designed properly, because they deserve to be making games, and not working at McDonald.

@@shawnfausey I couldn't play any souls game or souls-like game anyway...my brain simply can't normally process such slow movements. That's the main and only reason why I never played any fromsoft games except AC6. Because AC6 is fast, fluid and demands to play instinctively with 0,5 second reaction. This is how I like to play "difficult" games. And I like eventually turning them into a joke with my ideas, builds (if game has buildcrafting in general), enhanced instincts and my habit to memorise all enemies' attacks accurate to milliseconds.

If im not mistaken the team that did this game was a small team right? I allways thought it was an indie game, then you cant expect much from it. They probably needed 1 more year to make it good but was forced to copy paste and short down the NPC story thanks to already beeing over the budget.
