I remember how this grew on me. Sounded so off from the rest of the album but is now my favorite song by Postal Service.
I wish this song never ended
Ikr😢
This was my jam in 2004 when life felt meaningless. Music was my lifeline during those days.
Damn straight
imagine how meaningless it feels now. its almost crazy we are all still here!
2006 for me.
I feel u
@@danimart3374 2010 for me 😂
I listen to this song sometimes when I'm feeling depressed. I turn it up loud and imagine that every blast of noise, every drum beat is casting away all of the bad things in my life and I'm left with the feeling that everything will be okay.
I heard this song live in 2013 and that's all that I could think about. The beautiful chaos blasting away the negativity, letting me to feel optimistic about my life for once. One day later I got a job offer that ultimately led to the great job I have now. Coincidence, I'm sure, but it still made a lasting impression. This song is magical.
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww you just described how this song made me feel when i was young and i had a troubled mind i would put this song on and it would take all my problems away. Will be my funeral song
Todd Marshall bro that was beautiful I teared up for a sec. we all have special memories with this album, thank you for sharing. 🙏
Bet you're a fan of Fight Club
Comments like this are magical - we have to have hope.
It altered your vibrations and energy making your frequencies higher💜
This was my intro to drum and bass. After some digging I discovered 90s drum and bass, jungle, breakbeat... then branched out to 90s ambient, house, acid house, IDM, drill and bass, etc. So glad.
Hell yeah! I love me some liquid dnb. I love London Elektricity, High Contrast, Nu:Tone, Netsky, just Hospital Records in general. Good times.
Imma take a guess, you like Aphex Twin...
I've been listening to jungle/dnb for 20 years or so and this was my first time hearing this song, but not postal service. This is a great intro to drum and bass, welcomeeee
If you haven’t found it yet, pick up Squarepusher’s Hard Normal Daddy. This track is 100% the vibe of that amazing album.
This song is great when you got three 12 inch sub woofers slamming behind it. That's when you can feel it in your bones and soul.
All due respect to Mr. Benjamin Gibbard whose vocals and lyrics on this album are its inspired breath, but Jimmy Tamborello's compositions are its heart, soul, blood, and backbone.
Calming, exhilarating, peaceful, upbeat, positive, energy boosting, hopeful feel, love and nostalgia is the best way to describe this wonderful master piece.. for it makes me feel all this at once in a picture perfect way!
Interesting...I hear/feel it as an explosion/release of frustration/sadness, hate and love gone sour.
I've loved songs from Give Up for years, but never listened to the entire album until a week ago. Heard this song and was fucking blown away. Can't believe I've slept on it for this long.
Now THIS ladies and gentlemen, is how you end a FUCKING BRILLIANT ALBUM
It’s obvious that the universe wanted this album to come to fruition. Two dudes making an album thru the actual mail should not be able to churn out a record that’s this perfect.
Wait what? Explain? Thourgh the actual postal service? 😂
Was not expecting drum and bass when I listened to this album
sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the album, but that's part of the magic of it. great track
It's the perfect closer imo. Everything just descends into a kind of calm chaos.
Hell of a song. If I've got to choose one tune to close an album this one should be number one... Gibbard's lyrics at the end of the journey were perfect
And that concludes our adventure into the musical wormhole of your past present and future. See you soon.
I listen to this song when my mind is an island, and I know nothing can console me but music
No man is an island
Hash Brown people as islands... Reminds me of "Leave Me Alone" by New Order. It was the last song of an album, too. Kinda reminiscent of this song, just not as intense or progressive, but still amazing
Some good weed randomly put this in my head after ages of not hearing it.
It’ll do that
It's on my playlist and I'm stoned lol
Just wanna make something feel like this made me feel
One of my favorite songs ever!
THE MOTHAF***ING DRUMS!!!!!!
I woke up at 1:30 from what I was doing with a shocked bewildered and amazed look on my face. WOW. This is going on the take with me list.
Still relevant to this day. “I’ll write you a song, and it won’t be hard to sing. It will be a natural anthem, familiar it will seem. It will rally all the workers on strike for better pay, and it’s chorus will resound and boost morale throughout the day….”
Best song on the album IMHO. I always wanted to see the Postal Service take a techno route more like the Chemical Brothers etc. Never happend but still love this track.
This song is a god damn adventure.
Favorite Postal Service song since I first heard this album in 2004. Love the spaciness and early edm vibes
the percussion sounds really similar to squarepusher's beep street!
I kinda think gibbard sampled Squarepusher. Not sure though
@@neguhjoe gibbard? wtf, you mean Dntel
@@neguhjoe dntel is the music maker, Gibbard is the singer
It's the classic "amen break" samples by all break beat peeps. DUH
I was thinking the same thing, I haven’t heard a lot of music that has that style of drums
I’ll write you a song
And it won’t be hard to sing
It will be a natural anthem
Familiar, it will seem.
It will rally all the workers
On strike for better pay
And it’s chorus will resound
And boost morale
Throughout the day.
I’ll write you a song
And I hope that you won’t mind
Because all the names and places
I have taken from your life
So please don’t be upset
At this portrait that I paint
It may be a little biased,
But at least I spelt your name right.
2018 still rocking with it.
2023 here :)
13 years, and still amazing. ❤️
More like 17 years but yeah.
Just copped this album on Vinyl and played it all the way through and it still to this day just blows me away with every song. I forgot all about this one until today! Its now one of my favorites. Im only listening to It here now cuz im on my break at work
Great to finally be here. Man I wish these guys got back together tho 😭
Damn we both landed in a memory hole tonight 😂
They been touring with Death Cab For Cutie 20 year anniversary tour. Where you been?
I'm so happy to read the comments and see others appreciate this track! It was so different than the rest of the album, but my god did it stand out! I remember laying in bed listening to this as loud as I could on my anti-skip Panasonic CD player, staring up at the ceiling, frequently trying to air drum to track. There's so much energy in it, the swells, every movement in this track is beautiful!
This will forever be the key to my happiness .
Excellent song....makes the voices in my head come to life....
This song is immaculate, damn !!!
This song makes me want to take a train to DC as a drone dramatically films the train's journey under the hues of a sunset sky. #thedistrictsleepsalone
one shitty night I was coming home late, round midnight. decided to blast this, and scream the lyrics at the end. It felt liberating af but I still cried a lot that night. hella emo stuff haha
EDgY
My Aunt Stephanie posted this song on her insta so I came to check it out cuz it sounded good,This has to be the best song I’ve heard in like 10 years!
So different from any other track. What an amazing expression and example of the postal services talent and vision.
never really liked this song but heard it again a month ago, and now i'm like WHOA
Pretty jam
I miss this band so much...
an energy beam of a song
This track especially always made me wonder what a collaboration between Ben Gibbard and and GUI Boratto would sound like,
Especially on Gui’s “Take My Breath Away” LP
Proto-breakcore
I remember I first encountered this music in RadioIO Indie in the 2000's. Man, those were the days
I used to play this and imagine myself sword fighting everyone I ever met
Lmfao!!!!! That’s accurate
listening to this on christmas night (Dec. 25 9:15PM) (personal note)
merry christmas, you in the past
Playing with time signatures is amazing
So relate.
This song has serious Hard Normal Daddy vibes. It’s one of my favourite Squarepusher albums, and anyone who loves this track should check it out too.
But at least I spelled your name right
keep on being the liquor jim. dont drown in a blue roc vodka pool with a broken julian doll/manequin tho.
RIP
Jim Lahey jym
To know her you had to know that she spelt her typical name in the oddest of ways
huh..this is good stuff.
WHY IS THIS SONG SO FRICKIN GOOD?!?!?!!!?!???
These were the days
breakcore?
Life feels more meaningless now than it did in 2003. Weird that this was dropped 20 years ago.
This is true especially when you spend most of your time alone.
Life has meaning. We all just got older.
Trent Reznor approves
I took dmt and my friend put this on, right as I blew out my hit. It was an amazing experience!
But at least I spelled your name right!
The final levels of Thumper really reminded me of this track
album is a 10 out of 10
The symphony of traffic street... beware the crashes!
This song really scrubs your brain
I miss 2004!
This my shit
tha bass in this song made me think my phone was bussing
It was 2:59 he said? I'm not sure, how about you? Apres moi le deluge. Dream casts i deep meaning...
best listened to in a fast car on a rainy night?
2018 october
Its death grips before death grips
I keep forgetting about the weird cyberpunk song on this album
I hope death is like living in this song.
I feel like the intro could have been longer
USA Numero Uno
Was Numero Uno. Now is Numero we are f***ed!
The workers' movement brought me here
Most importantly what don’t I have teeth?
legit just like you
m3
I thought this song was called like panther or something like that not natural anthem
Who else thought this was called the panther? Fucking itunes.
Neurofunk 101
Honey bees, lemon trees and a fast train track, I take one giant look back and see that you were with me comforting me, the entire time from birth up to now, and the train tracks lost their power for a bit then fully the engine started up and steam began pumping as normal and the curtains blew from the wind and I catch my breath in the maze of fast cars passing us in the streets and finally I make it to where you're standing angels beside you and I hug you and you take me in as your child.
Almost seems like a Joy Division song! Soooooooooooooooooo amazing and climatic. :).
Joy division sound absolutely nothing like this...do you mean new order?
I'll write you a song and it won't be hard to sing.....Itll rally all the workers on strike for a better pay...and boost moral throughout the day...
If you find you like natural anthem I'd like to recommend listening to matador by arctic monkeys
This is literally a noise song
Who else was looking for the Natty anthem of Rich Piana 😢
tune is great but the lyrics suck so hard
who listens to music for the lyrics?
