Thank you U2 , from a 59 year old American guy , been listening to y'all since about 1983, War was first cassette of your awesomeness i bought, had a beater of a Honda civic wagon, shitty burnt orange rusty color, no a/c and a sputtering carburetor, yet a cold dr pepper and some chips and several Marlboros , and of course some U2 emanating from the speakers, and everything was alright in the world. Years later my tennessee trout fishing bud Kent had the great fortune to meet Edge on the sidewalk near that dance studio in Dublin where his then girlfriend taught. And so now my fellow youtubers who are u2 fans, you can say you've heard about a dude who knew another dude who got to meet Edge in Dublin one day.
That's Awesome!! We're about the same age gap(57 yr old Gal) & First Record was a War Album 1982/83 and I was Hooked! I had a T-shirt from back around that time that had what looked like a Jewish man running toward Barbed wire fence, I wore that t-shirt until It became Holey, but I didn't care but my Mother did, before long after a year of hiding it from her, it finally disappeared but well Well WELL worn Absolutely Loved it! Well I finally found the same t-shirt online, which I was thrilled, just added it to my collection! But now people sneer at me when they see the picture on the front of t-shirt & I have to explain one of U2"s Absolutely Awesome & Amazing Albums!I don't honestly give a rats butt what others think of me wearing that t-shirt. I hoped one day to finally getting to see them in concert finally, but I got sick & now I don't know if that's gonna actually happen! But that's its Okay, yeah ok. Can't think about My Teen years & the '80's without U2, as it was always playing on Cassette tape in car & Record Album at home/ or Cassette Tape too! Good Music & Great Times!!!

I believe Edge penned this song. I very often find myself humming it and singing it to myself. It strengthens my soul and my spiritual life. I love the song and it is the best track on the Pop album. God bless U2 magnificently !
It may be the quietest and most introspective song in U2's history. I feel the loneliness of people in the city as it is in the world view of video. The pain of living. Sadness. Healing. EDGE's guitar is really impressive.
Might be the most beautiful song beside "Bad" that U2 ever recorded. From the most progressive and beautifully mixed album that U2 ever made. Straight rock songs as "Gone". Electronic masterpieces as "Do You feel loved" and "Mofo". Charmy pop songs as "Playboy Mansion", love ballads as "If You wear that velvet dress, and a straight drum and bass punch as "Please". The final song of the album might be the most beautiful ending that U2 ever made. BIG UP for Pop!!!
@@rodtaylor5476 Absolutely right. "You gotta give it awaaaaaay..." might be the most hauting and spectacular chorus in the history of rock (Album version, not the single version, no emotion in the chorus, bad mix)
Last Night on Earth should have been the lead single. Disco and it’s stupid video doomed this album’s initial reception. Last Night is a beautiful mix of the Achtung and Bomb sound. It would have been huge for them. Agreed, Wake up dead man, is almost my favorite closer, second only to Love is Blindness.
The ONLY way to listen to this song is with headphones and laying on the ground looking up at the stars and cosmos. I love this song…it just injects certain emotions and feelings from a time in my life…also it would’ve made a great xmas number 1. Thank you @u2
This song is part of the "City of Angels" soundtrack list. I've loved it since the first time I heard while watching the movie. So deep and intimate, leading me in another dimension, out of this world made of anger and free evilness.
the movie itself however was shit. a bloated, nonsensical remake of an already classic film in "wings of desire" as a remake was unnecessary. plus, "wings of desire" had a better ending that wasn't sappy and sentimental in its bullshit.
Wow I love this song. Bono doesn't realize how many times it has saved my life. It brings me out of my darkness. It is a beautiful song. I would love to see U2 in concert. Probably will never happen but I can dream. Love y'all guys. Thanks for writing this song.
This band has saved me my whole life...I have a million different bands I like, but U2 is special and unique; I believe they're "doing what is their's to do" (ST. Francis)
So dedicated so beautiful . If God would send his angels? They already here I won't tell you a lie ..they walking and talking right before Christ eyes who is here also to pick up his bride and together they will rise .. Jesus Christ loves you Just thought you should know ❤ U.2 ...you are loved 🌹
I remember when my business was falling and I had no hope one Xmas a sat down playing this tune over and over as I sank into a whisky stupor. Great tune ❤
This song is wonderful, I don't understand why some people say it is "underrated", rather it is only for true fans, just like Faraway So Close! Those are part of soundtracks from iconic movies.
"Does love light up your Christmas tree?" Well, I think and hope that it will do so for me this year...I plan to spend Christmas with a young lady who is the spitting image of Denise Richards as the Bond Girl "Christmas Jones" in 1999's "The World is not Enough"...of course I hope that all of your Christmases will be just as merry as well...let's all spread the love, folks...especially God's love as they are referring to in this very song...
Spring Break 1998 - I was on the floor of the hotel room making out with a girl I had just met, MTV on in the background. Suddenly this video comes on…first time I even knew they made a video for this song. I stopped what I was doing so I could watch it…she got mad and left. Worth it.
One of my top ten favorite U2 songs, so beautiful and profound lyrics "they put Jesus in show business, now it's hard to get in the door." True then & true now 💙
When Achtung Baby came out I was blown away for 6 years. Zooropa was marvellous , Pop was insane and don't forget Passengers that was just sick. I won't lie I was angry when ATYCLB came out in 2000. Just couldn't understand that 180 degrees shift over creativity. It was a band I didn't know. Elevation Tour was great but that was clearly the end of an era.
yes, was a very classy song, Bono here whispers, sings, then goes high, then whispers again with all his skill. The video is veery clever and ahead of his time, the contrast between the people around Bono for me explodes with the lone black man at 2.40 and the 2 firemen near the end
The song is beautiful, it is more than a u2 song. Awesome The Edge riffs, Larry drums and Adam bass line. Bono's wailing voice. And yes, it's religious.
" BAD." Come on down Angel's , help your Prince.. ( If My Father will let you.) It would be lovely to see your beautiful faces and see your Smile. The Angel Michael..😊👍.
The rework on this "single version" is what the album version should of sounded like.. it's amazing how they were able to rearrange this into almost a completely different sounding song
Lighters in the air This song has always made me feel heavy and hopeful at the same time....gets to the core....tears in your eyes, pain in your heart yet looking to the sky somehow knowing... Larry's drums with Edge's guitar ...got tears now...
It was this song that introduced me to the band. I was 13 when it was released and I imeditly fell in love. Such an underrated album... and this song sounds as fresh as when I’ve first listenned ❤️
This song broke my heart 💔💔 I've always cried! I miss this form of U2. Beautiful, broken, epic. Pop was such a beautiful, tragic album. So many of the songs were so deeply saddening and yet..humorous. Bonos sad sense of humor popping thru.
I think history will be kinder to "Pop" than people were to it in its day. There are some great songs there. This is one. Also, how have I never seen this video? Just perfect.
Being a non- believer this song really hurts but it,s a fucking masterpiece a truly great song it reeks of healing and passion. This marks Bono out as one of the greats of songwriting as good as Dylan and Lennon and McCartney.
God did send angels. They are among us now. 👀~ They are word masters. And everyday they show us the way ⚖~ But your wills are free, and they can not force people too love each other. ⚘😔~ . . . "Every truth passes through three stages before it is recognized. In the first, it is ridiculed, in the second it is opposed, in the third it is regarded as self-evident." ✔🤷♂️ ... 😌~
There are all sorts of extra little bits and fills in this song, which makes it really interesting. It's not just verse chorus, verse chorus. It's quite complicated and intricate. A beautiful song by one of the best bands ever.
Me and my girlfriend love this song back in 2002 , we listen together we have 17, she broke my heart at the time, but still good memories and nostalgic song.
Achtung Baby, Zooropa & Pop. A 90's trilogy like no other.

Love you guys forever! 👍 I’m sure I saw an Angel once.. in a realistic dream ✨🌎✨💝
Nailed it.
Same for me
This song is part of the "City of Angels" soundtrack list.
@@thevoid99 Exactly.
Well said!
@@calvinhudson5854 thanks!!
@ Stella well said girl
I love the POP album. Sooooo underrated.... 1997. Wow. We are just Passengers in this world.
This video is happing across the globe if not America. That's U2's traight for you. The group strikes a chord in people.
Wow I love this song. Bono doesn't realize how many times it has saved my life. It brings me out of my darkness. It is a beautiful song. I would love to see U2 in concert. Probably will never happen but I can dream. Love y'all guys. Thanks for writing this song.
i quote you: Bono doesn't realize how many times it has saved my life. me too!
❤ A mi igual ❤
Who would Bono credit for saving your life? Agenda of Angels, by Kevin L. Zadai, is well worth a read
This band has saved me my whole life...I have a million different bands I like, but U2 is special and unique; I believe they're "doing what is their's to do" (ST. Francis)
Hope your doing well today Robin..
Love from Ireland ❤❤❤..
Glad to see they are revisiting this song for their Surrender album.
Glad they haven't forgotten it
PopMart was my first U2 concert ever! Every time I hear this song I cry… it evokes such emotion. They should definitely play it live on tour again!
Pop Álbum is one of The Best !! In this song Adam Clayton bass is very touching !
This is a great song, means so much! This needs to be played more often to get through peoples heads!
God, please send your angels 😇
Pop is a beast of an album. All the tracks are amazing pieces of music
Oh, lordy..keep on kicking it U2. Boy howdy, keep on getting to the heart of humanity. Thanks guys.
POP is my favourite U2 album. It's the album I listened the most while growing up, and songs like this will forever sound in my head.
It's pure heaven at 0.59 minute mark when Edge starts his magnificent riff
The u2 album i go back to the most, so much going on.
This song is wonderful, I don't understand why some people say it is "underrated", rather it is only for true fans, just like Faraway So Close! Those are part of soundtracks from iconic movies.
Because it deserves more attention and praise
@@07sushy Who cares? I can enjoy a song without giving a f*ck whether anyone else likes it. Praise doesn't enhance any song.
i love this song!
It’s a pity that gems like that don’t get the chance to shine often.
God's angels do look like this, I've seen them!
Jesus never let me down .
He turned me up
Amazing ? No, it is not just amazing … it pure magic !!! Thank you U2 !!!!!!!
My favorite song from U2.
Songs for my teenage years, kept me sane, the hope ,the faith and the love is within you alone
"Does love light up your Christmas tree?"
Well, I think and hope that it will do so for me this year...I plan to spend Christmas with a young lady who is the spitting image of Denise Richards as the Bond Girl "Christmas Jones" in 1999's "The World is not Enough"...of course I hope that all of your Christmases will be just as merry as well...let's all spread the love, folks...especially God's love as they are referring to in this very song...
Spring Break 1998 - I was on the floor of the hotel room making out with a girl I had just met, MTV on in the background. Suddenly this video comes on…first time I even knew they made a video for this song. I stopped what I was doing so I could watch it…she got mad and left. Worth it.
Please is another classic from pop album.
Million dollar hotel sound track was awesome as well
Pop sounds better for being unpolished and a bit rough around the edges, probably my favourite U2 album.
Top 5 all time u2 songs
2:05 I love how Edge and others just ignoring Bono and what he says.
The video was sped up. Phil jonuau had an interesting time filming it.
'Cos he plays an angel I guess like in "Stay" video.
"Nobody else here baby"
@@endres5628 I'm agree, Bono is an angel, they don't see him, no one sees him
Probably not the first time they've had to do that.......
yes, was a very classy song, Bono here whispers, sings, then goes high, then whispers again with all his skill.
I used to have this CD and always LOVED this song so much! It brings tears to my eyes when I hear it now.
There are few certainties in this World, but one of this called U2❤️
" BAD." Come on down Angel's , help
your Prince.. ( If My Father will let you.)
It would be lovely to see your beautiful faces and see your Smile.
The Angel Michael..😊👍.
Bono you are one of His angels!!! Speak be his voice!! ✝️🙏🏻
Please, Please stop Wars...Piece and U2 ❤
This underrated song is one of my most favourite from U2.
The rework on this "single version" is what the album version should of sounded like.. it's amazing how they were able to rearrange this into almost a completely different sounding song
BONO...speechless
Lighters in the air
This song has always made me feel heavy and hopeful at the same time....gets to the core....tears in your eyes, pain in your heart yet looking to the sky somehow knowing...
Larry's drums with Edge's guitar ...got tears now...
_Jesus's sister's eyes are a blister_
It was this song that introduced me to the band. I was 13 when it was released and I imeditly fell in love. Such an underrated album... and this song sounds as fresh as when I’ve first listenned ❤️
Unforgettable Fire is hot.
My favorite U2 song...and that's really saying something!
Amazing song. Thank you U2.
The album where they pushed the boundaries, my favourite sadly underrated
Being a non- believer this song really hurts but it,s a fucking masterpiece a truly great song it reeks of healing and passion. This marks Bono out as one of the greats of songwriting as good as Dylan and Lennon and McCartney.
i love every track on POP yes even Miami 😎
One of the greatest videos ever made by U2. And the single version is better than album version
Album version is better
@@ka5269 all respect for your opinion. I do prefer the other one
i also like the single version, more focused. Although the album version does fit the style of the album which is a bit more loose and meandering.
Love the album's outro, but this single version is far superior
This song shimmers and echoes in the sound space and in the mind long after its heard.... So haunting and memorable, just like so many of their songs.
Me and my girlfriend love this song back in 2002 , we listen together we have 17, she broke my heart at the time, but still good memories and nostalgic song.
Bono the Angel in the video that’s why people are ignoring him I think ✌️
Feels like a lifetime ago
