I try to fill the deep cracks in my heart by listening this song. Iam 23 now, remove the first 4 years of my life. Of the rest 19 years, I've been living lonely for 13 years. Even in my childhood i was very lonely. There was a girl, i liked her. But god had different plans. She passed away, leaving me alone. Later in life found another girl, she liked me but couldn't accept my proposal, because her family was very conservative. I don't see her anywhere now on social media. Both of them came like an angel and vanished in thin air. Never from then did i ever got a girl who loved me the same i loved her. Iam pure, but the world has too much impurity to love someone. When i feel sad, or wish to cry, i listen to this melody. 13 years of loneliness is too much for a man in his early 20s. I miss them sometimes. Why is my destiny written this way. Everytime its very hard to live. At some nights, i cry a lot. In the morning i realised i slept while crying. Maybe my good days are way too far. At the end you have to live with what you are given. But its very painful and hard. This melody cures that pain in me. Love to U2 ❤
Whoever you are wherever you might be I feel you and you're not alone, tomorrow is going to be different and you will find happiness and a beautiful soul just like yours to keep each other company... I wish you the best of everything 😊🌹

Not many people know, the producer of the album JOSHUA TREE asked to give up the song, problems in musical processing. Bono believed in the song and insisted on trying one last time to record. A producer played with keyboards trying to find the right line for the song, while age played with EBOW in another room, then magic happened. Combining EBOW with keyboards, this is how the line of a song was born, and it's all history. Clayton Bass LINE is as simple as a heartbeat, as only Clayton knows. Perfect song, Perfect production.

Here is to the lost loves that did not understand that we could not live without them... but also chose that we should not live with them... those loves that still visit our dreams from time to time.
From 1987 I remember listen this whole album in my oncle's car going to the beach and he explained me a few things of the group and I just listened...now in my 44 years U2 has been the soundtrack of my life and my favourite band. My feelings with their songs are undescribing, love them. The best band ever.
Great to hear your story. I found U2 recently actually I found it from the famous Sitcom Friends (which I watched in pandemic) and there’s U2 song in it and from there I search and start listening U2. From that time they have became my fav artist. Have a great life
This song and Bad really hit me to the heart, the memories that unfold when I'm listening, are just that....memories of another life and time, and a girl that I love was taken from me too early in life, the mountains hold my memories now, so I listen to U2 from a mountain top, watching the sun fade away and then watch summer stars shine down on me, hoping that her spirit will guide me.
51 years old..and alas I can say..I have found exactly what I was looking for. I just had to stop looking with two eyes and look with one. I saw everything one can see & what one couldn't see.. My friend..close yours eyes, drift into the eye of understanding watching it explain in speachless glory everything you have sought. Let the music do its medicine. Its good for your soul.
Rising gradually, like the sun, waking slowly, then movement, a little faster, a little louder, then finally, exploding into full expression and resolution.
What an incredible piece of art perfectly performed by U2 one of the greatest bands ever made creating always great songs and makes always good music and definitely changed the music history and scene forever only for the best way......!!!!!!!!!
I 1st heard this song while at work with my bro. He has followed U2 from their beginning. He ran to me and gave me his headphones and said "You gotta listen to this." Since then 3 concerts and ultimate respect
UA-cam brought this to me, again "knowing what it was doing". I had forgotten (or perhaps never even knew) that this is the song about a person or people torn between two directions that includes the words "stone", "thorn", "side", "wait", "hand", "fate", "bed", "nails", "through the storm, we reach the shore", "give it all", "give yourself away", "hands are tied", "body bruised", "win and lose" and "With or without you"! Any Christian will immediately note the significance of these words, while any scientist will see that their inclusion in one short song as an obviously non-random event. I fall into both categories so it is easy for me, and indeed - since being Born Again - I have taken a huge interest in the small (but not VERY small and actually quite varied), group of songs or other pieces of music that carries the power of the Holy Spirit, often in line with multiple layers of meanings (as when "Penny Lane" is loved as meaningful in a generalised way by millions, even as it was apparently designed by The Beatles to be as crude, sexual and subversive between the lines as possible, and even as it anyway seems to have combinations of words with strong religious and spiritual aspects to them). This from the group that challenged the Holy Spirit by suggesting they might be bgger than Jesus. The Paraclete cannot resist a challenge like that! What happens in music also happened in literature, with Shakespeare's works famous for their multiple layers of meaning. Hence the slight sterility of the debate over the above song at www.songfacts.com/facts/u2/with-or-without-you, where a contributer saying: "I was disappointed that Bono didn't come out and admit that the song was about the disciples and the crucifixion of Christ" is responded to by another writing: "Just to let everyone know, THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT GOD. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH GOD. "Bono wrote the lyrics while struggling to reconcile his responsibilities as both a married man and a musician. His wanderlust in belonging to a musical act was often at odds with his domestic life. While writing the lyrics, he realized that neither facet of his life defined him, but rather the tension between the two did. He explains that the final lyric is about "torment" and how repressing desires only makes them stronger". This song is not religious." In fact, the song is "With or without you" and it is ... or is not ... religious!!! As we see above, the Holy Spirit is specific, at times a little eccentric or even playful (the wind that blows where it wills) because He DOES NOT want to create exclusive clubs with membership only for those who know a secret password. The Paraclete is clearly available to all, now and forever, as Jesus promised. But , while He is the Spirit of Truth and love - and does NOT conceal that truth - He also offers as "part of the package" discernment, wisdom and knowledge ... on top of faith and contrition, of course. While most Disciples dropped everything immediately to join Jesus, hence seeing the truth at once at that level, the Messiah did still use Parables to encourage a lengthier and more involved thought process leading to revelation. He knew the Disciples' faith and love would allow them to understand, while saying rather specifically (and in a way even somewhat harshly) that: "For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand". As an online expert put it: "According to Matthew, Jesus speaks in Parables because the people do not see, hear and understand. The reason for their inability to comprehend, is their rejection of Jesus." As another source put it, thankfully a bit more optimistically: "to those with dull hearts and ears that are slow to hear, the Parable is also an instrument of both judgment and mercy." judgment or mercy ... with, or without, you! Since being born again, I have seen it as my role to try and help people on UA-cam to open their eyes to the divinity and connectivity, truth, love and mercy present in certain great pieces of music. It has been a wonderful, inspiring and revelatory task, and I am proud and pleased to be involved in it. Often people DO partly gather that something amazing is going on with the music (art) in question, but they often use words like "nostalgia" or "sad-happy" to encapsulate it. I try to help advance that understanding, guiding them in what I have faith is the right direction... And just how rewarding is that? Very.
The band that faithfully accompanied my youth and my life until today. A delight to listen to this extended version of "With or without you", belonging to that jewel of an album called The Joshua Tree. A special mention for another song from the album called Exit, the one that every time I listen to it I like it even more especially if it is the live version of the movie Rattle and Hum with the inclusion of a fragment of Gloria by Van Morrison, an exultation to the soul.
It was actually Gavin Friday whom believed in the song more than most, and whom persuaded Bono to give it a new lease of life - and the rest is history 🙌
I love when someone puts adds right in the middle of one of the greatest songs in history. I hope that I get to see these guys in Vegas,I remember having front row for them in the early 80's at Jack Murphy stadium in San Diego. And they canceled, even had a very beautiful senior eta to go with me. Everything happens for a reason.
Joshua Tree Tour was probably the craziest, most profound concert I have yet to see, and I have been to plenty of heavy metal concerts. Lost my shoes and clothes, and almost had my best friend dragged away from me LOL. We had to put our arms up into the night air to breathe and we would get stuck in that position, unable to bring our arms down... Crazy & AMAZING!
FFS people. Give this guy or girl a break. They like U2, we like U2. They obviously wanted to try something out with a song we all love. U2's music isn't something sacred that can't be touched. It's not like they did a Pet Shop Boys & destroyed it! Fair play to the creator. It's not for me, but each to their own.
I always thought that the Joshua Tree 🌳 version faded out without hearing the band let rip this amazing piece of work remedies that👍absolute classic from in my humble opinion one of the finest bands ever.
The 4 min instrumental in the middle is plain soul stirring....makes you realise that it is only music that breaks all boundaries between humans.

Have a great life
I could listen to the instrumentals at the end on repeat for hours amd never get tired of it .
ME2 🤘
Amen ... Eternal love 💕♾️
I still do....
It reminds me of a real mother's love and how I miss her so much
51 years old..and alas I can say..I have found exactly what I was looking for.
I just had to stop looking with two eyes and look with one.
I saw everything one can see & what one couldn't see..
My friend..close yours eyes, drift into the eye of understanding watching it explain in speachless glory everything you have sought. Let the music do its medicine. Its good for your soul.
My separation days of listening to this!!at my dad's bar!!
When I was in high school my dad gave me This album. It was the greatest gift.
Agreed.
Che was a loser.

I 1st heard this song while at work with my bro. He has followed U2 from their beginning. He ran to me and gave me his headphones and said "You gotta listen to this." Since then 3 concerts and ultimate respect

THIS IS U2'S FINEST HOUR. LOVE IT. NOW I WANT AN HOUR LONG VERSION OF WOWY.
Just stick it on repeat...problem solved.
“I guess it’ll have to be without you then.”

This song is not religious."
In fact, the song is "With or without you" and it is ... or is not ... religious!!!
The reason for their inability to comprehend, is their rejection of Jesus."
As another source put it, thankfully a bit more optimistically: "to those with dull hearts and ears that are slow to hear, the Parable is also an instrument of both judgment and mercy."
judgment or mercy ... with, or without, you!
Very.
Going on 35 years listing to the song and still like for the first time to hear it amazing album ❤
I'll be 60 I think next year been a fan since I was a sophomore in HS, ... '79 their music has tracked more of my life than I can remember
It was actually Gavin Friday whom believed in the song more than most, and whom persuaded Bono to give it a new lease of life - and the rest is history 🙌
Loosening a child no matter how is the hardest thing that you will ever go through God bless you 🙏
My neighbours didn't know I loved this but they do now.
What?
@@meiryaquino1927 what
@@meiryaquino1927 I played it loud, very loud.
Did that really need explaining 🤔
00:12am a few glasses of wine …..now I understand why this song is my husbands favourite song
This track is simply the bollox !! One of the best tunes made in my opinion! So beautiful
This is officially my favourite version of this song!
The true love that you looking is coming don't worry my friend!
AN ICONIC LP BY A LEGENDARY GROUP !!!AN ABSOLUTE HYMN OF ABSENCE...OR PRESSENCE!!!!!LONG LIVE U2!!!!WE ADORE U2!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So simple yet so beautiful. This one of my favorites of all time. Didnt knew there was a long version. I hope he gets to be with her in the end....
Considering he's been married to his high-school sweetheart for almost 40 years, things are looking good so far!
Always thought this was metaphoric for a wavering faith in Jesus Christ.
I will. It took 41y without her, but in 4 days we'll be reunited. I'm 76yo and she's 63yo but it feels as if we're still young...
@@stephangeerling3793 best of luck & many blessed wishes to you both! 💖💫
Whoever’s behind this presentation, thanks for presenting the best.....
Love Love love this Song ❤️❤️❤️❤️
In any relationship with LOVE it's hard to forget it.
Greatest love song of all time. Period.
I still like the original that came on American MTV...when MTV played music 24/7
What a BAND and when u listen to their music it is MAGIC
I always thought that the Joshua Tree 🌳 version faded out without hearing the band let rip this amazing piece of work remedies that👍absolute classic from in my humble opinion one of the finest bands ever.
Still gives me goosebumps.
U2 electrified the world in the 90s. I used to drink at a Irish bar in S Boston and I’d play this tune on jukebox the sec I walked in.
I am here on 1st Dec 2023,with this amazing song of "U2"......never feel tired listen to this sweet melody of BONO,....
Anyhow u bend this song, twist this song, re-do this song this is still a master piece for all times.....
This song introduced me to U2's magical world. Perfection.
I'm 64. I still love this song and the band who sung it. U2 are awesome. 😊
This is what you do in your own mind when you hear that perfect song you are obsessed with and can't get out of your head. Love this
