hey brotha glad you got that working how you wanted! I just wanted to bring up the point of making sure you take a sec and see how the wires are moving now when u tilt it that extra bit, make sure that when u have it fully lowered it isn't pulling on the wires or the trim cover doesn't disrupt anything behind there. Would hate to see you have wiring issues due to chafed/rubbed through wires!

I did this on a w9 and the U joint bound up and locked up pulling into the shop. So if you do this definitely keep that in mind and check everything over.

Watched a guy do this in texas a few years back i left same shop and came upon his wreck he died after going into a curve his steer shaft locked up after a dip in the road he never stood a chance he went straight into a cotton field slammed into a truck shop destroying his truck and eight trucks outside of shop..that plastic piece is an angle controller which prevent steering lock up..be aware please we all love ya brother

Haha well. I took that piece out it's very easy infact few things you gotta remove. And I took my spring out as well.. but you can tilt that whole column even more .. just saying it doesnt end with that white block

Curious, I have done this same thing about 6 years ago to mine and left it at that. But have always wanted a tilt that is equivalent to a passenger vehicle. Have you gone further by tilting the whole column some how? Just curious since I want to retackle this project again.

I used one of them cheap wood burning/soldering pens and melted mine out. 😂 Obviously it'll stink for a few minutes but I choose that over beating on it lol. Still wish it would go further down.

Buddy you can cut the spring out and it’ll tilt further and still function just fine. It worked on my truck. I can Dm you pics.

So it’s been around a year since you did this, have there been any side effects up to this point? Any binding or premature wear showing up? Does the wheel still lock in place solidly? How is the driveability ? Has it been affected in anyway?

There are no steering sensors in the column, you're smoking crack. We've done this mod on 12 trucks in our fleet, all 389s. I repeat... there is absolutely no sensor in the steering column throwing a steering angle code.

@@trucking4racecars You could of used a punch & hammer 🔨,tooken the pin out and brought down the sleeve. That’s ok,you got it anyways. Keep up the good work. Yeah,it’s supposed to be pressed in,that’s where the punch comes in at.

You tap out both the upper and lower pins, remove the entire assembly, remove sleeve and spacer and reassemble. Sanchez trucking has a tutorial, no tolerances are affected.

    PLEASE, DO NOT DO THIS.
I would be EXTREMELY LEERY about doing this and DO NOT recommend this WHATSOEVER.
Engineers place limits on mechanical systems FOR A REASON. In this case, I suggest examining the “coupler” between the steering shaft and the wheel. The reason it is limited (by the white bushing) is to PREVENT failure of the coupler due to excessive “bearing angles”(imagine putting too much of an angle of a U-Joint on a drive shaft). WHEN this joint fails, the steering wheel will LOCK in whatever position it is and you’ll not have the strength to overcome the failure. BOTTOM LINE, WHEN (not if) it fails, you are now a passenger in a vehicle YOU CAN NOT STEER.
PLEASE, PLEASE take this video down.
I am an aerospace engineer with over 20 years working with mechanical systems of all types. If you don’t believe what I am saying, Google something like “severe u-joint angle, excessive CV joint angle etc.
