I just bought a BPS Johnnie Morris Carbonlite combo 7'3" med heavy with 8.3:1 gear ratio reel. I bought that and a Shimano Sedona spinning reel for $200.00 with all the spring sale discounts.
The only 7'2" (currently) on the TW page is a Heavy action. MH only in 7' or 7'5." Is your 7'2" actually the H and you say you classify the action as more of a MH?
I use the Bass X, 7'2" Med/Hvy fast and it can fish each and every bait in my bag. Yes I own a frog rod etc. etc. but if I could only take 1rod, that 1 does it all. For $100 it will last a lifetime, Pair it with an SLX reel and for $200 you have combo that will fish anything.
I will add a brand to this.. The St Croix MOJO YAK rods are amazing for Kayak fishing. Designed a tad shorter for kayak fishing with all the popular weights and action at an affordable price point $200 ish. And its a small line of rods. Grab yourself 3 rods and your covered for every situation.
I’ve been picking them up as well. Shorter rod makes all the difference. Also if you bank fish smaller rivers the mojo yak is a game changer. flick the wrist is all it takes
just trying to give another option that's good for another type of fishing. Randy knows me and knows I'm a kayak angler. just another option. knowledge is power.@@michaelmcclenon6663
I bought a medium heavy expride rod, and that one is too stiff for me . I think I will stay with medium rods. The med. Heavy rods work in my lake for flipping and pitching. We don't have heavy cover.
You think prices of MB rods are high in the USA. Don't look at our prices in Europe 😮😢. Its capatalism and hyping a brand plus a big chunk of VAT (21% Price upgrade) 😖😵😞. Plain and simple said: t-a-x, plus 4% import duties 😅. High End equipment?? = Pay to play nomather the brand btw (Loomis, Tenryu, StCroix etcetera)
@@kayakfishingforpredators9107 I got an orochi last year for $199 on Omnia with a $29 membership, which gives me free shipping for a year. Don't know if they will do it again. Megabass very rarely goes on sale.
For about $400 up front. You can learn to build better rods for about half the price. When you do the research on what type of blanks manufacturers use. You will find that they all come from approximately five plants in China. You then find the same blanks at rod building suppliers. I just finished a rod that is better than the one from mega bass. I tied and epoxied the guides so I know they are better the one that is mass produced. I have all the confidence in the world in rods I build. The one I just finished cast me $149.58
@@burgermeister3443 agree. But the rods I build would be in the $350 to $400 range retail. I don’t sell rods so this isn’t a sales pitch. The difference is in the details. I buy the highest quality blank. That’s the foundation. That’s everything. If I have to use a ferrule for the reel seat I use composite, not built up masking tape. I use guides with titanium inserts. They’re less prone to getting nicks and less wear on the line. I use the best thread. Not the cheapest that mass produced commercial retail uses. I always put minimum of three coats of epoxy on the threads and guides. Not just one thick coat like mass produced rods are done. It takes a little time, but I have confidence in my equipment
Kistler is one of the lightest but some blow up , Shimano high ends blow up , 13 high ends blow up , but St. Croix and Original G Loomis have truely been awesome for me , I have not tried Megabass at all never , but I can honestly say even if you spend 500 dollars on one of these rods I’ve said can blow up , it can blow up on hook sets or while fighting a big bass
And yes, a 7’+, MH, with Med/Fast action is a really good versatile rod. That’s why it kills me to see fishing tournaments on TV where an angrier has 20+ rods in deck… I think rules should limit it to FIVE rods on deck at any time… make the anglers spend time tying on new lures… ridiculous to have that many damm rods on deck! Like Randy said, that rod can do pretty much any lure, so then limit how many can be used
Hi Dear Randy thanks you for all those precious advice ! I'm in europe france, looking for a US shop can ship to europe this rod i want to buy do you know wich shop can ship out of US ?
MrRandy , I had to tell you , I just watched the last Ike show with his wife Becky and they both are saying a ton of PROs are trying to get rid of LS or FFS , just wanted to let u know , you an the army are seriously gain ground bro
Randy, the description on the linked tacklehouse website says Levante rod but no Perfect Pitch description. I’m ready to move up from budget rods and want to order the rod in your video using your link but don’t want a different Levante rod sent to me. Does your link point to the rod in your video?
Can’t disagree here. Big Megabass fan, and I use a perfect pitch more than almost any other rod. And I have a lot of rods, including other Megabass and G. Loomis rods.
Randy or anyone, I sent a email to a store where a guy knows alot of megabass rods, he said the 7' 2" rod mentioned in this video perfect pitch is only made in heavy action and there isnt any other actions , was this a mistake in this video or is there a 7' 2" in medium / heavy ?
@@randyblaukatintuitive oh ok thanks, so it is the same rod, I appreciate clearing this up for me, I look forward to all your videos, I learn alot. Im just starting to use swimbaits and mostly only gonna use the klash 9 lure. its 3.3 ounces, im quessing this rod should work ?
hey Randy, thanks for the video. i was wondering 2 things about the rod because i am considering picking it up, i was under the impression that the perfect pitch was a heavy and not a medium heavy and i was wondering if you could clear that up for me. i was also wondering about the sensitivity of the rod and was hoping you could provide some insight about that.
I love you, Randy....you're the best on UA-cam (IMHO)...but, I don't think you've EVER recommended a product that was in stock. They have a 7'2" Heavy Extra-Fast (which is a combination that I personally love)....but not an MH-F. I don't know if they don't make that model, or if they're just out of it. Just like that Mat Shad Vision 110, that's out everywhere, too.....smh.

Any American made rod is what you should be looking for, there built to last a lifetime. Put your money in the rod not reels. Even cheap reels these days are good and durable because of the continuous anti reverse.
And this is only cause of your stance and your fight MrRandy , it’s looking and sounding like from Ike and miss Becky it’s going to get banned or something

I’ve used St. Croix blanks in the past. Very good
7"-2/3" MH Fast with a 7:1 is my favorite all around.
Nothing wrong with a Megabass rod, personally i would pick a phase 5 model. 😊😊
Hi Randy,
Would you be able to do a video on when to use a 100, 200 and 300 size baitcaster? Also how much bigger is a 200 than 100?
Thanks!
Great stuff, Randy! Looks like you're holding the EMTF, not the Perfect Pitch. I have the Diablo Spec-R and Perfect Pitch and love them.
