I think the music in this song serves one purpose: displaying the chaos and madness in the meatgrinder, this battle was... And it catches it pretty well, imo. Great reaction as always, greetings from Germany 🙂
Battle of Stalingrad (july 42- geb 43). The battle for the city turned into one of the bloodiest in World War II with combined casualty numbers near two-million. For the lyrics Joakim used a three and a half page diary, some Russian soldier writing a diary about Stalingrad so he used that because it made for a more interesting story and a more personal approach.
This goes to show they really don't take sides. They sing about the Finns, taking a stand against Russia, and Russians taking a stand against Germans to defend their city, even though it was named after a dictator,if that makes sense. The first time I heard the song,I was like:what is this? Then after listening a few times,I realised it portrayed the chaos of the the battle perfectly, for me at least And it became one of my favourites. Greetings from Belgium 🤘
I think this is a great point about Sabaton. I think they mentioned it in a video once but it shows they don't take sides. I think you are spot on. When I first heard it I was like man I just finished winter war, feeling for the Soviets was not something high on the list yet by the end of the history although still odd to look at it through their eyes I couldn't help but cheer a little for them.
Winter war was 1939-1940, kinda 3,5 months long. (Come on, Finland later recouped, helping the Third Reich in 1941-1944.) Battle of Stalingrad was 1942-1943, kinda 5 months long. Well, I'm glad that Sabaton doesn't take sides.
Yeah I knew it was around in there, I think the song hit so different being so close to me looking at winter war so closely. I think had I listened to it before it would of been different
Stalingrad and Uprising for this week. Both have been recorded. Just recorded Stalingrad history this morning and will record uprising history wednesday. After that not sure. I still need to catch up on the histories but those are hard since they are so much longer than the standard song.
@JustTenMoreMinutes okay sabaton have just released the last song on carolus Rex album. They have been releasing lycris videos on all the songs eng versions,Here is hoping they do the swe version, too. I hope u are interested in doing the carolus Rex album and learning on Swedish history:)
@@andreasgaming9765 May I just recommend If we can have him wait with the Carolus Rex album for later? I think he has many other songs he can do before that album and I intended to give him advice on the best way to react to the Carolus Rex album so that he can do it in the chronological order in what history songs are first.
@@JTMMTVhope you reacted to Uprising official music video and the live version as well. They are the best videos for it. Basically these two are the best to react to for Uprising. Hopefully you did those two. ua-cam.com/video/lzeNBRbWXpI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/BmerZbDPXns/v-deo.html
I like how the music makes you feel the darkness and chaos that is the battle of Stalingrad.
STДLIИGЯДD broke my brain

This was fascinating!!! It was personal which was so weird to watch after Winter War. History comes out later which I filmed yesterday
Great reaction man!! I think the whole album is still fantastic!! One of my favourites!! And the song is an masterpiece!! 🤘🏻
Oh, the song is 17 years old. I still listen to the song as if it was new. It has so many musically elements. It's still on my playlist.
The Song has this chaotic, powerful energie not following to Rhythm...like the bone grinding battle of Stalingrad. I think it has a very fitting sound
This one the history episode is interesting. The chosen perspective to look at the battle from is from a lone soldier's diary...
Yeah filmed it this morning and it was weird to see it from another perspective.
