Every year in the anniversary of the battle they "replace" the City's name to Stalingrad again. There were rumors about a referendum to change it permanently, but i don't know what happened since then
i cant share your opinion about enemy at the gates. it keep potraying the Ussr not as an autocratic state but as a caveman like madman state. the red army, the 62nd army, is being made out to be a rabble of untrained men that just get killed for fun in random banzai charges, being shot by their own men (yes there were blocking detachments but they never shot people like this, that doesnt mean they werent cruel), you see men without weapons being landed over the volga which is crazy, and then there are the soviet commisars. Of which there were idiots and cruel barstards but their main function was to hold speeches and check if Stavka orders are followed, again that doesnt mean they werent cruel too. But a soviet commisar would not hold such a speech. if Khrushchev would have actually said anything like this he would have been removed immediatly. Its historical myths it spreads are just about propaganda.
Best ww2 movies is the one you mentioned and also Downfall as well as Das Boot. Reason being is they are the most historically accurate and also some damn well made movies.
There is a very informative video from that TIK guy that covers the subject of Was Bitchler really obsessed with taking Stalingrad? Or whether that is just Stalingrad Propaganda. It is long, and maybe not the best for a react video, but you should check it out if you have the time. I will post the link separately so this does not get deleted...check the replies to this.😁

"he Most Shocking and Unexpected Defeat in World War 2 - Saved by Sausage (The Sausage War)"
The Stalingrad movie 1993 is my favorite. Like Das Boot on land. Made by Germans froze to death 🥶 💀

Saw that movie a few weeks ago, watched it again right after I finished it.
@@mezmerizer9422 yeah, it's an awesome movie.
I thought it was the ones and zeros
Not sure I would call Enemy at the Gates a great film. I much prefer the 1993 Stalingrad from Germany.
Simo Häyhä.
He's the reason I play snipers in video games
