Spilt leaf philo: There are opinions that it is slow growing! Is this true? Through my follow-up, I found that it is not slow, but depends on moisture and good fertilizers
I’ve struggled recently with propagating Xanadu and selloum! Even after years of gardening! Either the stem cuttings get too wet or too much light...? Sigh. I’m attempting to do it now In a mix of dry perlite and vermiculite. Mist lightly and leave alone. Lol
Hi! I would like to share about Xanadu propagation... I have observed that the smaller plants tend to produce offshoots as compared to the matured plant. I usually encourage appearance of offshoots or baby xanadu by regularly grooming the plant specifically by removing the outermost leaves. I just dont know if it is also observed by other gardeners but you can try.
Your video's interesting and very useful. Thank you for sharing. your plans are sound and fresh,,You are good gardener. Have a great day ~. I will come again.
Nice video, thankyou for taking the time to share. Could you please tell me again which bark you used and also if there is a supplier on Amazon to purchase it? Thankyou!
Hello, such a pleasure! So the bark I add to the mixture is milled pine bark but you can also use an orchid mix. You could perhaps try : www.amazon.com/Espoma-OR4-Organic-Potting-4-Quart/dp/B00AE2GEFY/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3DS5P4TFTW4BE&dchild=1&keywords=espoma+orchid+bark&qid=1615136593&sprefix=espoma+orchid+bark%2Caps%2C430&sr=8-1 :)
I'll never know what plant I have ...It was sold to me as a split leaf Philodendron but I want to propagate it and not sure where to cut it and mine has a wood trunk at the bottom maybe a inch or so high with holes all around it where the stems come out It also has those arial roots at the base of the plant above the trunk! I have 2 others that were also sold to me as same plant but they are different have nodes and tendrils that I have come to realize leaves are different and they are monsteras!
Hello, yours certainly does sound as if it could be Philodendron Selloum. You would be able to cut it anywhere which would allow the piece you cut to have some roots which will easily root into soil on its own.
Hello :) This was a small plantlet I took off the side of the mother plant. If you want to do a stem cutting on these you can cut the stem at any point as long as it has a couple of aerial roots (nodes) at the base. I hope this helps :) Corbin
Any tips on winter care for the plant if u plant outside in ground will I have to cut them back will they survive winter it's not really cold in my zone. Help
Title says propagation and nothing. Just shows us a glass of water with a stem in it. I came here to learn HOW. This is just a reporting video. This also doesn’t seem to be a selloum? I believe it’s a hybrid. These leaves are quite round. Selloum leaves are normally more lengthy and slim with a lot of space between the little fingers.
Thank you for your comment, I will be redoing this video and make the propagation part more clearly and show how to do it :), I do believe this is a juvenile Selloum, as most Philodendrons, they morph as they grow and this is quite a small plant. Corbin
@@PlantBasics hi there, did you ever make the actual video of propagating?? If so please give the link? I went through your page, subscribed and all, but didn't find It.

Such a great video...I love these plants, I have one potted outdoors. Thanks for showing this plant. You are so cute
Thank you 😊
Should we keep the soil mix light and airy like mixed with cocopeat, perlite, vermiculite etc?
Absolutely! How big is your plant?
@@PlantBasics they are still plant babies... under 18inches

Hello, it's not at all slow-growing, it can actually outgrow an indoor space quite quickly.
Beautiful plants.
So nice of you! Thank you!

Could you please share the material you use to make your soil mixture? Thank you!
Hello, I use fine milled bark, coco coir and perlite all mixed together, you can also add in some worm castings for nutrition.
Thank you for the video! Was searching how to propagate my Lacy. I recently found out that it isn't a delicious monster. You're South African, right?
Yes I am :)
I'm not to sure that is a philodendron selloum specifically, because they don't grow new leaves out of the leaves themselves.
Hello thank you for your comment, I'm not sure if I understand what you mean?
You are correct. This is not a selloum. Although I’m unsure of what it is exactly. Looks like a selloum hybrid of some sort.
@@kittydollkori looks like philodendron xanadu.
Hoe gaan dit! Baie dankie vir die info. My ma se selloum es 40 jaar oud!
