    Well thought out choice on tire/wheel combo. Hard to argue with Icon and Patagonia. Great detail in this video.

    I am a “Jeep Guy”, but a couple of years ago had to sell my baby. I travel quite a bit for work and recently realized I am longing for getting out in nature again. I honestly cannot think of (and I’ve been looking for weeks) any less expensive, low barrier for entry, while retaining decent fuel economy way to get back into the outdoor adventure lifestyle than a Crosstrek or Forester.
    I absolutely love my WRX, but with the number of miles I drive and the places I want to explore... it just isn’t practical.
    Fun... yes!
    Practical... not so much.
    So I’m in the market for a Crosstrek and DEFINITELY looking at the Ironman lift with larger tires.
    Thanks for the content... so far I’ve enjoyed all your videos.

    Andre, do you need to swap tire pressure monitors from stock wheels or does it not have any?

    • @thetrailtrek
      @thetrailtrek  3 роки тому +2

      I actually don’t run any TPMS at the moment. I used to use my old ones but the tire shop I went too did some bad work on retrofit work on them and they didn’t work as good so I ditched them completely. You have to buy a new TPMS sensor to run it on after market wheel is what I was told but might be different depending on where you go.

    What air compressor do you use to air back up? I'm trying to decide between the Viair 88p and Slime 2x pro 40026. They are both at the same price range but not sure which would be better.

    • @thetrailtrek

      I’d recommend the new Ironman compressor! The price range is the same as those two and way better! Check it out.

      @@thetrailtrek awesome thank you! Looking at the 2 though the bigger one is only $30 more. The main difference is one is 3.2cfm and the other is 5.65cfm. Is the 2.4cfm difference worth the $30 extra?

    I bought 15” wheel and still can’t decide if i’m going for 235 or 225 in stock height. This helps me understand about the rubbing issue. I do have plan on lifting my trek in the future. Thanks for the explanation ❤️

    2021 sport with ironman on the way. I wanna keep my stock wheels(i like them)
    Was thinking 225-65r17 but 235-65r17 sounds reallllly good to me

    For a 2013 crosstrek, could a 235/55/17 with stock suspension work without rubbing? Thinking of fitting that on the oem wheels. Currently running 225/55/17 oem stock suspension.

    My 2021 crosstrek comes with 225/60/17 I might put on 225/65/17 for some off road. It will give half an inch lift.

    I don't mistake what overlanding/dirt road/rock crawling is.
    Everyone that gets a crosstreks, always think they're jeeps

    • @thetrailtrek
      @thetrailtrek  4 роки тому +4

      Definitely agree with you, a Crosstrek isn’t a jeep. That being said though don’t underestimate how capable they are. It’s done a lot of things I honestly didn’t think it could. Thanks for watching 💪🏽

      "Leo"
      I think you might mistake what a crosstrek is and is capable of.
      It's a daily driver weekend warrior vehicle. What he, I and many others build for and do is not rock crawl. I have a big FJ for the big stuff but the crosstrek goes farther even with all the mods. Due to gas savings.
      Just because you see treks with bumpers and armor doesn't mean we think they're jeeps. We're building these out to do what we already do with them but making them safer and more prepared etc.
      We have more actual clearance than these massive full size trucks. Because they have giant pumpkins for towing not off road. Clearance is always mistaken by rocker hight but your clearance is limited to your weakest and lowest point, you diffs and suspension parts drive line etc Jeeps, fj, and bronco are always going to be the best for extreme. But these new CUVs like the crosstrek are proving you don't need a big suv to adventure.

    • @leogonzales4634
      @leogonzales4634 4 роки тому +1

      @@nomadmav7040 you don't, but other cross trek owners think they're jeeps. Most of them doesn't even know what lockers are and what they do, then they go out and get stuck and wonder why it happened.

    • @nomadmav7040
      @nomadmav7040 4 роки тому +7

      @@leogonzales4634 and still there's jeep owners that have no idea how to use their jeep. Jeep owners and suv owners that will run a trail locked and in hi 4 when they don't need it making turns and jumps. Lockers are a last resort not something used constantly so is using 4wd when it's not needed.
      Point is most people are learning. Some start with a crosstrek or the like and go on their first adventure. Lack of Lockers aren't the full reason people get stuck. In fact my old baja could take hill climbs better than most jeeps. Torque and power, grip and clearance, suspension travel all are factors.
      If someone doesn't know better teach them but berating them for not understanding isn't cool. You learned and we all could learn more.
