- Several cities across the nation have signature landmarks that represent their city. Newark, Ohio has its own, and may be the most unique out of the bunch. Jane Pauley has report on the Longaberger Basket Building and why it's up for sale.
It seems like an amazing building. I hope another company can move their headquarters there so it doesn't get torn down.
I also live in Newark Ohio and I drive past it all the time. My grandpa and grandma went to school with Dave and my grandpa welded the basket when it was being built.
Cool, I want to film it. I drove by it one by chance
I live close and unfortunately The Longaberger Basket company closed down in May. They moved their headquarters and the factory back to the same building before Dave built the Basket Headquarters and a huge factory. They claimed they were glad to be back in Dresden, Ohio where it all began and Dresden welcomed them back with open arms just to be slapped in the face again by Longaberger. I worked in the factory that is now closed way back in 2000. It's just so sad.
I love that building! It was recently sold and they want to fix it up and get it on the Historic Preservation list. I am going to film it!
I know that your comment was 3 years ago but I really hope that this building has been put on the Historic Preservation List. I would hate to see people demolish this one-of-a-kind building.
I've drove by it multiple times. Even cooler in real life.
I live in Columbus....not far from this Ohio Landmark. Bitter sweet to be sure for all concerned.....but sadly these situations happen in life and it's what we ALL do about it after we get past the numbness. Cheers All
I've been there in person, its a neat building. I think it should be on the national registry of historic places. Its just so cool, and I'd hate to see it end up like Rolling Acres mall or something.
This building is so cool. I love weird architecture.
I made a few videos of the coolest and WEIRDEST !
Wow amazing 👍💕
Makes me sad 😢
I live here in Newark ohio
I always thought that the basket would make an awesome hotel.
It could be converted into a hotel.
Are there any other tourist attractions close to the building? Is there the infrastructure to support tourists in the area? Restaurants, transportation, alternative accommodations, entertainment?
I love LONGABERGA
it can be sold to some grocery or ecom business ... basket symbolize shop icon.
Seems like a show-off move,
and now it is a lead balloon.
I live in ohio and in dresden there's another basket

3:15: Why would anyone buy baskets with graffiti like that on them?
It's on the bottom of the basket. It's not noticeable unless you pick it up and look at it. It is a signature sign that it is a Longaberger basket. It's no different than picking up a piece of pottery and seeing a makers mark on the bottom, or finding a makers mark on a piece of Jewelry.
