My family were basket makers for a couple of hundred years. We live in the North of England by the river Lune. I still have two baskets that my grandad made over 70 years ago. I'm so proud of my family heritage.
I would love to learn this 😍 do you offer classes?
A lovely lady and a lovely video. Thank you for sharing it.
How am I just seeing this now? Thank you so much!
Expert is an understatement.
In certain areas of the USA we can’t even sit out in the grass anymore because of Lyme ticks.
Beautiful lady, beautiful basketry.
What a beauty basket, indeed 👍 👏🍀🌳 thanks for sharing 😍
Lovely baskets. Thanks for the video!
I grow basketry willows in a variety of colors (when dried). This is my first year harvesting them and making baskets. Very excited!
Very fitting those are some "SWEET" baskets........beautiful....
Wundervolle Körbe, welch ausgeglichene Frau, vielen lieben Dank für dieses Video...;)

You are such a great joy to watch. Before you know it, it's done....
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. She is a true artist and crafts woman. I love who she said this is something we do together. Thank you so much for sharing.
This sounds like a pleasant, social activity not unlike traditional quilting bees in America. Thank you for sharing.
thank you for sharing🌸
You remind me so much of my mom. I wish deeply that she had a hobby or passion like this to give her fulfillment and happiness instead of drugs. Thank you for your video, ma’am.
3:50 "something useful and beautiful, something that enhances our lives" - she was talking about the baskets, but she also described herself. Such a nurturing and productive woman, she'd make a great a mum or grandma. God bless her and thanks for a great, interesting and very informative video.
Absolutely agree a lovely lovely gentle kind lady..beautiful baskets! Thank you dear heart for sharing yourself!💗
She is lovely and gracious. I don't feel scared to get old, beauty comes from inside out, and this lady is the best example. ❤️🌹
These baskets are just beautiful, and I particularly love the hamper. What a talented and lovely lady. Thank you so much for this very enjoyable video!
What a lovely and pleasant lady.
Yes she is
Unlike the ORANGE MAN! ORANGE MAN BAAAAAAAD!!!!
I actually learned a lot from this video about basket making. I was looking at her rods and thought those are too thick and not pliable. Then she said soak for one day a foot. Use an awl not a screwdriver. Precious little video. So much to learn.
I was thinking the same thing 😊
The same here!
I'm here because #cottagecore rocks!!!
Such a beautiful video...thanks for sharing
Over 14,000 years, and we still make them. I dreamed of this, once, long ago. It was a mighty, and revolutionary craft. And it's practical to this day. Your demeanor and skill make this a true joy to watch. Blessings!!!
Lovely to watch. Thank you Jackie
It's lovely to see a lovely lady so able, skilled, and confident in her craft.
I make my own things and am quite practical. I feel an energy and mutual understanding with a shared interest with you.
My parents were very practical. My dear father, now in the spirit world, could make a good job of anything.
Some of dad's work colleagues were the same. One was a scuba diver. He made his own breathing regulators. Very skilled and brave.
I loved your film, thank you x.
she has such a lovely spirit. thank you for showing and chatting with us!
Always a pleasure to watch, hand, eye and brain all in unison.
That was a pleasure to watch, the lady is a true artisan, thank you.
Beautiful. Lady, weather and basket. I love the name of the nursery too! Wonderful video.Thank you.
I save this video years ago. Today I’m making little baskets again. I usually use a wooden base now, because it’s so much easier on my hands. But I think you’ve inspired me to do a round bass this time. I love having harvested Willow. It’s nice outside today so I could do it. Cold weather is about to show up, though, and I’m not sure what I wanna do when It’s so cold out.
I don't know but when I listen to this lady I feel so nice she sound so sweet a mother like talking to her child . She's so sweet and creative talent :)
Really beautiful baskets !
You are BY FAR my favorite basket weaver! I really enjoy watching your videos, thank you!
Thank you for sharing yourself and your beautiful art and insights..bless you 💗🙏
Lovely to watch your expert hands work the willow. The baskets are quite beautiful.
Beautiful. Definitely have to try that.
Im amazed that you mentioned Papua New Guinea as I am currently living and working here, and i got so interested in their baskets thats why it has led me to watch basket weaving videos such as yours. The basket or bags here in Papua New Guinea which they carry their babies in are called Bilum. They now use plastic strings that they crochet to make their huge bags.
When I think about it now, it is a small world after all 😊 thank you for your videos I hope i will learn and make a basket soon! ❤❤❤
What a wonderful Lady, I could listen to her talking about anything and feel intrigued. Beautiful People do still exist!
Beautiful Baksets!
What wonderful craftsmanship! I've always wished I could do creative stuff like weaving baskets, blowing glass, blacksmith and foundry work at an artisans level. Oh well, it's fun to watch you do it!
stop wishing, start doing? ;) Good luck mate, start with something small and easy!
the baskets that you knit are beautiful
Beautiful work💞
Very good Job!! Love ur works.
We have so many stunning creative people and crafts in the UK ,it's great to see them being taught so they can be carried on.
i love basket making, i use brambles, as we have so many near us. I learnt things from you today that i never knew about basket making... i followed your video perfectly... i think your a lovely lady, and i wish you many a willow to turn... and twist
What an amazing basket. You made it look so effortless to just whip it together.
Beautiful!
What a lovely lady! Thank you!
Great talent. I have made willow baskets from wild willows that grow on the Canadian prairies and they turned out pretty nice I think. I've never used commercial materials though. I learned how from an old man who came from Holland who told me they made them over there to gather potatoes from the fields during the war.
always blows my mind that people dislike these videos!! wonderful human, wonderful talent x
Beautiful!!
Very talented lady and fantastic skills! Beautiful basket ! Excellent! Best wishes 👌🏽👍🏽👍🏽😎
Beautifully narrated and executed! Thank you 🙏
I love this❤
Awesome video. My baskets look like rubbish by comparison, but I sure do enjoy making them.
made me laugh. USA
high five!
I'm having that problem too Jesse. Mind you, they do say the first five years are the worst.
Though if you like doing it, it can't help but get better ( I hope)
With any craft, practice is the only route to mastery. It can be so rewarding, though.
You are a true artist. Beautiful work.
Wonderful craft Jackie, thank you very much.
Absolutely amazing ❤❤❤
Basket weaving therapy! I would like to try this! Thanks for the video! Very inspiring!
Your baskets are amazing!😊
This is sooooooooooo AMAZING!!!
They are so beautiful ! 💮
OMG, Mrs. Sweet does really awesome work. I am so impressed. A master at work.
A wonderful presentation that whets the whistle for this time-honored tradition. Thank you.
The key part of the whole show is at 3:41 "This is the way we've always done things." Yes. The recognition of the importance of Tradition, Culture, and Heritage. Too often, we are quick to poo-poo the old ways, labeling them at outdated and stodgy. However, as she notes, it is an integral part of who we are as a people, an activity that provides a function item needed for the home or market, but also a way to bring people together. When people come together, not only are the troubled soothed as she mentions, but relationships are built and problems are solved as the people talk with one another. It's the failure to continue on the traditions and celebrate the culture that has caused so much trouble. Idle hands are the devil's workshop, right? Well, maybe there's a reason that saying came about!
absolutely gorgeous!
Lovely video, lovely lady! Thanks for sharing!
What great video☺️🙏❤️
Thanks Jackie! Lovely baskets, you're very talented and a fab teacher
Really creative work there, love your baskets, I enjoy making them myself from time to time. Started making them for arts and craft as a child never forgot the pleasure of creating something from only a few vines, I’m now thinking of making some baskets you have renewed my enthusiasm, thank you so much. Amazing baskets you have made . Keep doing what you love to do . Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely stunning!
Beautiful work!
That is such amazing and beautiful work. That definitely takes time, patience, and the right hands. Thank you for sharing this video.
Jackie,
Thanks for sharing and posting. Your work is an inspiration and I'd love it if you'd post more.
Wow I wish I could take some weeks or months and maybe learn under her. Such a nice feeling to work with hands, true!
You make amazingly beautiful baskets! I'm in awe.
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing your video!!
Watching you work is just amazing. I have a grapevine in my yard and every year I cut it back and think I should do something with this, not just throw it away. I think I will try this year.
I love how you describe basket making as a coping mechanism and the part you say after about making something beautiful. I'm a crafter still just beginner level with baskets bKind of a Jane of all trades n that is reflected on my sort of haphazard channel. I have kind of learned this concept over the years about myself because I have the creative art brain. So when the world, and humans...start to press in too much and I start to feel anxious, crabby, too confined... I retreat to my crafty place.and it isn't long until I'm just happy as a clam. Even now, I'm stuck near the house and I know my brain doesn't organize so well right now due to woman issues, so I hang out with the horses (also a medically researched calming activity) and make grass cordage, or set down with some green shoots from (I think it's a chokecherry or bitter cherry?) that fell over in my field. But my favorite material to work with is juncus, what my family calls "swamp grass". I'm impatient and have little short bits of time, so I pick the material and weave with it. Yes, there is some shrinkage, but for now that works for me. I have little bowl sized baskets everywhere. Daisies and blackberry vines work pretty well, too. I know it energizes my brain and is my happy place, because I find myself singing before I know it. My problem is that there are way too many crafts I want to try and not enough time!
thank you, miss Jackie for sharing your craft with us.
What a good skill to have.
very therapeutic for mental heath & was used as part of my "reconnecting again" "healing"
Beautiful... Thanks For uploading
wow! beautiful video so good I like making baskets. It's art.🤩🤩🌈💐🎁💕
This was very helpfull, I had no idea how to start making a basket. A lovely art, seems very calm and listening to you is a pleasure.
so beautiful
These are great! I am definitely going to try and make some willow baskets myself
These basket weaving techniques can be used for many things. I'm going to make baskets for planting. Great natural air pruning. Woven belts can be used for many things.
Very nice.Looks relaxing..
Thanks for tte lesson. I live in west Texas in the desert. We have some willow near creeks. I helped my uncle build a sweat lodge out of willow and it acts like a muscle relaxant like aspirin. I’m planning to make baskets. I appreciate the video
Lovely video . the basket you were demonstrating. Was the first one I made ..taught by jenny Pearce..you are both very talented at making the most lovely baskets..
