*UPDATE* After you install LEDs, you will get that dreaded "Check DRL system" light. If you install load resistors with the bulbs, then the light will go away. LEDs don't use that much power, so the computer thinks the bulb is blown. Thanks for the video. I just did my low beams to LED and was going to do the daytime lights. Hmmm to install a resistor in that tight spot, it doesn't seem worth it to me. Did you install resistors?
@@fortunatedad7695 If you want the DRL warning light on the dash to go off it's definitely worth it. If you jack up the vehicle and remove the front wheels then there's a ton of space. No I did not install any, because the customer didn't care about that warning light being on. The way to avoid resistors and the DRL light is to get LED bulbs that are Canbus compatible. Back then we did not know about this, but nowadays there are much more LED bulb options on the market that have built it resistors. The cheaper bulbs don't have it and that's why resistors are needed.
@@Jedi_Luke good point! Since you do this for work, you would most likely know then if the H11 for the daytime lights and the 9005 fog lights are the same connection types? I found a 9005 resistor kit and was wondering if I could use it for the H11 bulbs and acura connectors?
@@fortunatedad7695 No sir, those are 2 different connectors. 9005 and 9006 are similar with slight modification, but H11 is a smaller plug and won't work. You will have to buy a H11 resistor kit or get different H11 bulbs with Canbus.
Just bought 2010 annoying drl messege of course, neither running light is on, i see a box of lights in the glove box, now i know exactly what i need to do, thanks for the video!
This was a customers car I did years ago but I believe the fog lights are H11 and the DRL is 9005. If you just take your bulbs out there should be a number on the back so you can see for sure. As far as the brand you can pick whichever one you want. eBay and Amazon have huge selections. Don't get the super cheap ones because they don't last. You don't need super expensive either lol
I just bought a 2010 MDX from a private owner. So, could you please tell me how do I turn off the daytime running lights. Or do they supposed to stay on while the car is running? Thanks
They're actually a great feature. They are meant to be on all the time as a safety feature, so other cars can see you. There's no "normal" way to just turn them off, unless you wire up some custom foglights with a toggle switch. The only easy way you can get them off is to just remove the bulbs and leave them out, but you will have a permanent warning light on the dash.
@Francisco Bencomo yes if you just get regular LEDs then you're stuck with the error light. I believe if you were to get some error free lights or install a load resistor on each bulb, then the message would go away.
Just upgraded mine . Is anyone getting the DRL message on the instrument panel. Im going to try hooking up the scanner just to see if there's anything i can clear. Its a 2007.
I wanna say they were H11 size bulbs. Just pull one of your old ones out are check the number on it. There are plenty different brands online to choose from. Don't forget to get load resistors so you don't end up with a "DRL" light on the dash. Thanks for watching
The size is 9005. Just type in "9005 LED bulb" on eBay or Amazon and pick the ones you want. Preferably some that are canbus or error free. Don't get the super cheap ones as they don't really last long.

Permanent

You just need to buy some canbus resistors.
thanks bro it worked
Looks awesome besides that I'm having a hard time seeing the lanes that would be a good fit for my MDX, do you happen to have the link of those bulbs?

Is the daytime running light the same type as the fog lamp ? Can they be swapped? I have an old fog halogen spare when I changed to led
I can't remember. This was my customers car not mine. Just pull the bulbs out and see if the numbers match up.
Question how easy is it to take the light out of the housing. I tried turning mine counter clock and he won’t budge
Should come right out. Don't be afraid to break it if you're replacing it anyway
How does one replace plastic cover underneath car. Took off b4 watching your video. Senior needs assistance. Thx
Hey did it ever make ur DRL light come on that dash
Yes. Read the pinned comment at the top.
Can you send a link for a 2012 mdx I can’t find what lights to get

I can’t get the fog lights to come out!!! Any help?
You have to turn the bulbs a certain way to clear the holding tabs. Press in slightly and turn counterclockwise.
What led bulbs did you use and where did you get them?
eBay. That was my customers car, they brought the parts. Just take one of your bulbs out and see what size it is. Go on eBay and order a set.
Hey man, I installed them, but they flicker very low, almost like they are turned off. Any pointers, anybody?
