I'm still new to body building but I'm finally taking it seriously, im at 198lbs, 20 ish percent body fat and my dream weight is in the 200s but lean, I wanna build muscle at the moment but idk if it's the right thing to do, anyone have advice?
@Justin Lee I will work on that, I match my macros pretty well, I get my protein, my fat, my carbs and what not the issue is im struggling to get enough calories but im working hard and diligently. Thank you for responding!
If ur training for both strength and muscle building, they will require 2 different rep ranges. For strength training the rep range will be around 3-5 reps while muscle building will be 10-12 reps. For this reason u should keep the squat bench and deadlift primarily for strength training, and use accessory exercises like dumbbell presses and lateral raises for muscle building. I decided that I’m going to give up on deadlifting, at least for a while. I’m gonna concentrate on the hack squat. Once I can hack squat 550 pounds, then I think I’ll start training deadlifts again. I have no business deadlifting anymore until I can get a solid hack squat.
I imagine you want to stay aesthetic for your viewership but if you document the psychological struggle of bulking up to get stronger but at the risk of losing aesthetics then I think your viewers would be very interested in that journey

His physique is already functional for what he does, maybe some mass on hamstrings can help but his form is more about using the lower back

Focus on dropping the fat, but also acknowledge you can put on muscle at the same time for the earlier stage of your lifting career.
