Hits hard when you mentioned it premiered 25 years ago. It’s always a bit of a trip when you rewatch a show from yesteryear and you realize that you’re now older than the character who was 20 years your senior when it was in its prime.
Perfectly expressed, good sir. And, if you’ll forgive me for being direct, the sheer depth of humanity that you’ve managed to imbue your comment with betrays your username… 😉 1) it’s safe to say your words are *not* the product of a ‘foolish’ mind (what 19th-century British folk commonly referred to as ‘tom foolery’…) 2) the irony of ‘Tom the Austere’ publicly sharing an honest, introspective piece of himself is masterful. In all sincerity, I completely understand the Uber-trip that Time and Mortality take us on, and certain special times in our younger years (such as the magical summer I binge-watched the entire Sopranos series. I had never experienced that level of television before. And now I’m older than Tony. Just like you. 🫣
Made in America no. 1 no doubt. The entire series is good but that finale is great. To me, the show builds to the finale. And the finale itself is everything. It's perfect.
Excellent video and lovely montage at the end. Also big shout out to the season 1 episode "Boca", the ending where Tony gets drunk and says "I didn't hurt nobody" easily the most emotionally impactful ending to an episode in the series for me.
I will always love how in “Whoever Did This” Ralph is the first and only person to finally call Tony out on his hypocrisy, and ends up dying to Tony’s ego. Something I just noticed in this video, is that “Employee of The Month” is the elaboration and culmination of the theme of true Justice that was first introduced in “Boca” about the mob justice towards The Soccer Coach and then Artie Bucco of all people try and do the moral thing and talk Tony out of not killing him. Brilliant.

In any show, episodes where one of the central characters get killed, tend to get overrated in the scheme of things. It's a lucky break in a show with rotating directors to get a character death on you directing episode. With that said I don't know how I would rate "Kennedy and Heidi". I enjoyed the episode and I've seen the series multiple times around, but I'd really have to closely analyze the various episodes to see where it belongs. Long Term Parking is knee jerkingly one of my favorite episodes, but I don't know to what degree Adriana's death alone plays on my bias. It's certainly a good episode on it's own. It poses a lot of questions in Chris's overall journey as well as Tony's.
The Blue Comet is probably in my top 5 of the series, but I couldn’t imagine it being the finale. Not seeing Phil get popped would’ve been a huge downer for me.

23:43 Another important detail about this scene is that Christopher also sees the kids within the family. You can see him contemplating on his current lifestyle and the life of the poor family, and then he realizes it is at least a "family", which he will always lack with Ade - because she can't have children. I believe that was the moment he made his decision.
Awesome list for the best TV drama of all time. I totally agree with your top 5, despite many lists putting Pine Barrens in the top spot, but your narrative convinced me. I love Whitecaps too, because of it’s obvious drama.

Guilty as charged. That's an awesome episode, and one that probably gets underrated and a little overlooked because it immediately followed Pine Barrens.
"The Weight" had my favorite use of foreshadowing in the series. Johnny Sac tells Tony, "No more weight remarks, Tony. They're hurtful, and they're destructive." Five episodes later, Ralph's remark about eating beef and sausage by the carload causes Tony to sucker punch him.

I am only here right at this point 25:12 , but I can tell you right now. This list is already wrong. The top three should be. 1. pine barons. 2. Whitecaps. 3 Long term parking. I will never call it season six a or B it will always be season six and seven to me. ) if there were any mediocre, as I don’t believe there are any really bad episodes, if there were any mediocre episodes, it was in those two seasons. At best. If people are wondering why am coming off so passionate, I’ve literally watched the show when it first came on and HBO I didn’t watch the first episode, but I was right there the second episode, and made up for it, catching up a replay of the first episode back in the day when you had to wait . Then when Netflix came out, I would order the desk and every 4 to 6 months I would upgrade my subscription to get the most amount of this possible so I can watch the whole show. And then chorus came streaming. I also Bootleggin copies to pirate, bay and lime wire, probably one of those. And to this day, I still watch it and break it out at least once a year. I asked to ask girlfriends how many times I think I watch the Sopranos and going by what I know I’ve watched every single season, well actually break it down this way. Season one through five I have watched at least 75+ time if not more Season six and seven, about 45+ times if not more. But his suggestion because it was such a damn good show depending on how you watched it, I guess is how you can rank it. All I know is I love people that to this day that say oh, I never watch that show because it was too violent! Which, as every two soprano fan knows that is the biggest joke and why out there and just proves that they never saw three minutes of an episode. Because all of us die, Hards know it was comedic drama addicting and then yes you had your violence you had your sex. But it was interlaced so well that it was not overwhelming, so anybody out there that ever tells you that they didn’t watch the Sopranos, because it was nothing but violence & Sex . One laughing them in their face and call them out hopefully in public. Me personally, I would give them a call and walnuts.” Yeah what does that supposed to mean? What are you trying to say? 😂 God, I miss Tony Sirico, and definitely of course, James Gandolfini, but hearing of Tony Sirico, before the sopranos, even started, knowing who he was, by rumor, living only hour and a half away from where he grew up. All it was such a treat to watch him every Sunday. I really wish television go back to the way. It was in many ways. Watching the Sopranos was an event. Thanks for posting as you can tell from this long ass. Paragraph stirred up some emotions…

As the narrator of this channel said (Sopranos is great as a whole as opposed to merely the sum of it's parts)... I've watched the Sopranos numerous times around in binge fashion so it's challenging for me to separate it based on episodes. Episodes where significant things happen such as main character deaths tend to get a bias from much of the public for that reason because it's something easy to latch onto to pin point a particular episode. In a show with rotating directors it's always a big break to get an episode with a central character death. Of course Pine Barron's pulled it off with great humor and then many of us will think of the Chris intervention episode as having one of the funniest moments of the show (I'd be curious to analyze that episode as a whole in terms of it's ranking). White Caps for it having possibly the best acting from Carmella and Tony combined with it being the longest episode. However as a general rule... all shows including the greats like the Sopranos and Breaking Bad... I tend to dislike the married couple fight/split divorce scenes/episodes. Something about it isn't entertaining for me and it's typically my least favorite sections within excellent shows. But in the sopranos I still really appreciate the acting in the big fight scene in White caps.
Added bonus: A. I. Is not what we were told it going to be. It's basically a computer that pretends to be human by summarizing information from the internet on a certain subject. It regurgitates the information back to us as a generic opinion. The A. I. tries to emulate humor or other human emotions but it lacks a soul and real life experiences so it just comes off as dull, bland, and soulless.
People love to throw down Sopranos quotes in various comment sections and many/some of them are painfully cliche', but I I get a kick out of the scene where Chris mugs lauren bacall and she says "my f__kin arm". That one is worthy of a quote every now and then, but no one ever does. I misquoted it for the longest time and I prefer my misquote more... i thought she said "my f__kin eye", which I think is a tad funnier than my arm, but still funny nonetheless. This was from Luxury Lounge which was 12th on this list.
I enjoyed this Interesting list! I cant pick a fav episode only that I think the show only got better as it went on. My favorite line from the series is “His apartment looked like shit!” LOL It’s great to hear you agree the ending’s ambiguity was not symbolic of Tony’s death but a device to allow a future installment of the Sopranos, where Tony would presumably be alive. We discussed this a while back. I interpret this as proof Tony lives on. Chase or VanZant also said VanZant asked Chase to keep Silvio’s fate ambiguous in the event of a future installment, which persuaded Chase. So this was possibility obviously loomed large in how Chase ended things. Also, Chase admitted he deeply resented the expectation & pressure on him to kill Tony in the end. So I think the ambiguity also served to allow Chase to defy this pressure, let Tony live, yet avoid the backlash. Of course, Gandolfini’s premature death makes another installment undesirable if not impossible. Strange, but for me his death deeply changed how I remember the show - it’s as if Tony did die in some tragic way because Gandolfini died. A great loss, it’s very sad.
Peace! Bergen County’s Finest strikes again..I’ll never forget that cut to Black in “Made In America” 😂…I sat in my Brooklyn apartment; with my then fiancée in disbelief 🫢 Fabulous upload Lynch; Peace Out..

I. tries to emulate humor or other human emotions but it lacks a soul and real life experiences so it just comes off as dull, bland, and soulless.
Borkos gonna hear about thish
Kenedi and Heidi is easily #3
People love to throw down Sopranos quotes in various comment sections and many/some of them are painfully cliche', but I I get a kick out of the scene where Chris mugs lauren bacall and she says "my f__kin arm". That one is worthy of a quote every now and then, but no one ever does. I misquoted it for the longest time and I prefer my misquote more... i thought she said "my f__kin eye", which I think is a tad funnier than my arm, but still funny nonetheless. This was from Luxury Lounge which was 12th on this list.
When your coach turns into a pumpkin 🎃 you gotta cry.😢

I never realized how hot carmella was
I wouldve made sure that Tony mulched his roses with what was left of that rossi p.o.s.
I enjoyed this Interesting list! I cant pick a fav episode only that I think the show only got better as it went on. My favorite line from the series is “His apartment looked like shit!” LOL
It’s great to hear you agree the ending’s ambiguity was not symbolic of Tony’s death but a device to allow a future installment of the Sopranos, where Tony would presumably be alive.
Chris had Land Rover not hummer
Peace! Bergen County’s Finest strikes again..I’ll never forget that cut to Black in “Made In America” 😂…I sat in my Brooklyn apartment; with my then fiancée in disbelief 🫢 Fabulous upload Lynch; Peace Out..

Hugh De Angelis ❤LOVES Virginia Mayo.❤😊
Hey! We called him "FATHER Jughead". Hmmm...
The worst episodes were the dream sequences that were all David Chase written stories. One word - stupid and sophomoric. What were you David - on dope?
That’s what we call millicco hence the horn 😆 super superstitious much?
Gonna go on a limb, and say Pine Barrens #1 . But I think it's a little over rated.
nah, pine barons was number 1, duh
No Isabella??? No Mikey Palmice???!!! Gtfo!!
Most overrated series in History! 👎
Wow what makes the sopranos overrated in your opinion? That’s a very hot take that I respect but I definitely would like to hear it more in depth
@@raymondsims7042 fair enough, boring episodes! It happens when these producers get fame then they over think and lose the plot. Just like Breaking Bad and how lame it became. “Pine Barrens” the only real good episode in my opinion.
@@playinragz8183 oh lol so breaking bad is also overrated in your opinion?😂😂lmao and this is simply due to you thinking some episodes are “boring”🤔every episode can be completely action packed or fast paced lad
@@raymondsims7042 breaking bad after season two was boring and the star aka Jesse, stoner character was lost. And yes Sopranos overrated and BB disapointing.
What? Breaking bad four and five are the two of the best and most entertaining seasons of tv ever😂😂that’s a crazy take. Sopranos is also one of the best shows ever
25:58 Damn, Carmela is looking good.
agree, this is the best look of her for me in the entire show
