This Pirates of the Caribbeans live performance was played by Intermundia, a group of two Italian film music composers based in London, and Lucia La Rezza, an Italian violin player well known in Italy for performing film and videogame music. Among others, Lucia played at the Lucca Comics and Games, one of the most famous comic cons in the world.
Although we, Intermundia, usually compose original music for media, we decided to create this unusual film music concert, after noticing the big lack of film music concerts in the world. So many people are interested in this type of concert, and there are really a few of them in the whole world.
So, we decided to start our own film music shows, playing our own original music together with live covers of famous soundtracks, such as Harry Potter. We then created a "prototype" for this concert and played it nearly every night at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019. The result was a success. Over 100 people turned up at most of the concerts, and we received amazing feedback. Therefore, we repeated the experiment at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022, at the Gilded Balloon, and the result was, even more, a triumph, with over 2.4k people attending in total.
This performance of Pirates of the Caribbeans live, part of the whole Epic Film Music Concert, was particularly appreciated, with Luca playing the electric guitar, Edoardo playing the drums, and the fantastic performance of Lucia, playing the main theme and improvised variations with her electronic violin. All this was accompanied by lights designed by Intermundia and managed by Edoardo during the show.
Apart from this performance of Pirates of the Caribbeans, during the concert we played covers of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Inception and many other famous film themes.
