  • WPLJ-FM NEWS WITH LIZ FULTON, 8 A.M., APRIL 15, 1977
“Liz Fulton was the first voice many New Yorkers woke up to in the morning as the drive time news reporter on WPLJ, then New York City’s top FM radio station.” So read Liz Fulton’s obituary published in the Greenwich (Ct.) Sentinel upon her death at the age of 70 in 2021 at her home in Darien, Conn. This newscast covers what was happening on that day when WPLJ was into its sixth year under those call letters. Begun in 1948 as WJZ-FM, it became WABC-FM in 1953 and launched its new call letters, WPLJ, on Feb. 14, 1971. It changed to WWPR in 1987. Liz Fulton was a lifelong Connecticut resident who eventually rose to work for both CBS and NBC.

Thanks so much for this sir. (I think Macy's Action Down Under replaced The Cellar.)
