It's been said human often live a drama before they understand the cycle and gain control over the system, and the cycle of chaos and order in and between societies is one we have been working on for thousands of years, yet with only so much progress. We are beginning to see the fullest pattern of it only now, much less really transcend it as a people and a species.

This is the second law of thermodynamics. It’s all about entropy and the fact that everything eventually settles for the most likely outcome. A pile of grains of sand can be just a shapeless pile or a sandcastle, but it’s more likely to be a shapeless pile than the sandcastle, and so as time goes on eventually it settles into being just a pile until someone expends energy building it up again. At any given moment any one of those dominoes could have fallen in either direction. The flick of the first one changed the probability of the system and determined the pattern. Many people throughout history have built large systems that use people as the building blocks and then someone else has simply given those blocks a tiny push in just the right way to bring it to its knees and possibly end up with another attempt to build a new system. We are a part of this process and we can never see it all.

If they had succeeded in getting to the VP, the certification of the Electoral College votes would not continue; consequently, each state would get 1 vote, meaning Donald Trump would win 26-24 (or more; I'm not exactly sure what the final balance was), stealing presidency from Joe Biden via an insurrection he provoked.
There would be massive riots afterwards, eventually giving him justification for Martial Law -- and after that, who knows.. What is almost certain is that the death toll would be in the tens of thousands and the US would almost certainly not survive as a democracy.

@@BlackDiamond2718 I strongly recommend reading the Wikipedia page on the violence during the "George Floyd protests". Quite a lot of that arson and looting was initiated by right-wing instigators who were hoping to discredit the overwhelmingly peaceful marches.
