Over the years I have watched many golf lessons on UA-cam and I have to say you've become one of my favorite teachers. Clear voice and lessons ordinary golfers understand. Well done mate :)
Yet another great tip. I've been hovering my irons for a little while and I've noticed a massive improvement in contact. Keep these great tips coming Alex, particularly from bunkers with compact sand
I have watched many UA-cam videos and this is one of the best drills ever. I practiced in my garage for a couple of nights, took it out to the course and my strikes were as pure as I have ever hit. It works from Driver to wedge. Love your videos.
I’ve never commented on anything before, golf or otherwise, but bloody hell this works. I tried it today on a quick 9 holes at Aintree and I struck my irons like never before. Straight, long and with minimal effort. Cheers Alex. Paul, Liverpool.
great tip hovering been helping. what does the hips do in correlation to the shoulders. as in do hips fire first or shoulders following hips or more together
Wow, timely video. I have been striking the ball out of fairway bunkers really well lately. 5, 6, or 7 irons. In a bunker shot you have to hover your club. I've been thinking about doing that on the fairway next week.
Ok Alex, yes this WORKS, BRILLIANT your very best tip EVER mateee.. great cause its short and Factual finally fixed my contact. Hovering lets you feel the weight of the head...cant go worng. Cheers from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
I'm not sure "why" this works - but I tried it on the range and the course and it actually works!! My ball striking was sooo much more pure and accurate.
I had a man that I was on driving range with and he says the same. Although I was not sure what he was saying about don't set club right behind ball, hold it back a bit.....NOW I totally understand what he was trying to tell me... thanks Alex can't wait to try this technique.
@AlexElliottGolf I was always setting the club right up against the ball. I have not had a chance to try it yet as we just had a big storm go through NC and because I work for the city, I was in duty through the night. I'm hoping to get to range sometime this coming week and will def put this to the test.
hey there alex you got great videos but im really struggling on when im delivering the club to inpack the shaft is more upright causing me to hit on the toe ALOT. i was wondering if you have any tips or a video on how to fix this. thank you keep up the work.
Very informative video!! I have a question about hovering the club. If you hover at address, do you push down, with the left hand and lightly pick up with the index finger of the right…or just pick the club and hover about 1/4 to 1/2” above the ground?
my closest course has a forced carry on the first hole. after the early spring tips, I pulled out the same club I used to use for it, and knocked the ball over the next tee box, the first time I played that course this year.
Hi Alex, I am suffering from hitting to high on the ball and not really hitting it on the bottom. Any suggestion how to constantly hit the ball proper.
Hi Alex, can you do a video while hitting a ball off a hill I am struggling when it's a downward lie can't get any height on the ball and it just runs down the hill. Thanks Harry
Hi Gary, I have made a video on in depth ball position for different clubs so this should help you, the video is dropping tonight 8pm uk time so be sure to tune in!
Why do I have to have my right foot (I'm Lefty) so far behind the ball to give it height off the Tee? You always say inside heel of lead foot but I'm on the outside of my pinky toe almost a half inch to a full inch away and its still not as high as I want. This action also helped me somewhat stop slicing like I'm a NY Pizza Maker.
Ok, so after doing this drill, I am now striking the ball in the middle of the club face however, it is high above center. Now what?! I don’t know how to adjust that so I am hitting in the middle and not contacting it so heavy. Any ideas?
Hey Alex, I just had a question regarding takeaway and timing. I notice some pro golfers have a slower takeaway leading to the top of the swing or even pausing at the top of the swing. Is there any reason or benefit to having a slower takeaway? I find myself sometimes rushing my takeaway and can’t find much consistency in ball striking
What I don't understand is, in your driver video, you state you never hover the driver because it brings tension in to the swing, but with your irons, you say to hover the club......please explain Alex.
*This is my FAVOURITE iron golf swing drill! You have to hover then you can hit down!*

Thanks for sharing this great video. Alex. Subscribed.😄I am going to try it this weekend.
Best instructor on UA-cam Alex. This is exactly the simple drill I needed. Thanks
Glad to help! Thank you
Your lessons are easy and executable. My game is improving every week with your tutorials.

love this!!!

Have heard about this hovering of the club with drivers before. Will have to give this a go. Thanks for all the great tips!!
Glad it was helpful!

This is a fantastic tip! Love the idea of tricking your brain with the hover pre-shot. Brilliant!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Brilliant, so glad it worked for you. Appreciate you tuning in 🙌🏼
Going to try this tomorrow, thank you.
I'm not sure "why" this works - but I tried it on the range and the course and it actually works!! My ball striking was sooo much more pure and accurate.
Brilliant!!
Ive been applying this to my driver (alla Jon Rahm), and my irons. My distance has improved so much. Thanks.❤
Very good tip for the iron swing🏌️♀️✌️. Thank you🙏.
Amazing videos, man. Thank you.

Eric! Let me know how you get on!!

Excellent session and will now go and try it out hopefully I will hit my irons sweeter👍🏻
You explain things so perfectly 💗
Glad you think so!
Alex,I’m playing Friday and will give this a try. I am a poor iron striker. Wish me luck, will report tomorrow.
Very informative video!!

Well done alex 🏌♂️ 👏 😊
Oh I sawr it olright..😅😅great video!!
Excited to try this Ecky boy!!! Thanks again ❤
PS. How can this be translated into 3w?
my closest course has a forced carry on the first hole. after the early spring tips, I pulled out the same club I used to use for it, and knocked the ball over the next tee box, the first time I played that course this year.
Is there an alternative way of practice if a grass range is unavailable? Thanks always for the good instructions!
Cheers topped my 2nd shot this morning when this popped in my head from last night lol

Hi Alex, can you do a video while hitting a ball off a hill I am struggling when it's a downward lie can't get any height on the ball and it just runs down the hill. Thanks Harry
Yeah course, I will try and cover this in a video so make sure you have your notifications on, All the best!
Alex, can you give some guidance on where the ball position should be? It seems more forward than normal.
Hi Gary, I have made a video on in depth ball position for different clubs so this should help you, the video is dropping tonight 8pm uk time so be sure to tune in!
Do you hover the driver as well with the low point of the swing just behind the ball?
Yeah i do hover with driver
I've always hovered my irons. Always felt more comfortable, especially in the rough
Alex, I forgot ask, should you hover the driver in the air and a distance behind the ball?
Alex do you cut your clubs down a bit to fit your height or do you use stock length?
Why do I have to have my right foot (I'm Lefty) so far behind the ball to give it height off the Tee? You always say inside heel of lead foot but I'm on the outside of my pinky toe almost a half inch to a full inch away and its still not as high as I want. Am I correct in assuming this does not work with woods & driver?
That's correct
Ok, so after doing this drill, I am now striking the ball in the middle of the club face however, it is high above center. Now what?! I don’t know how to adjust that so I am hitting in the middle and not contacting it so heavy. Any ideas?

That’s a nice drill Alex, I’ll give this a go later on.. 👍🏻
This is why my golf swing will never be adequate. 😂
What I don't understand is, in your driver video, you state you never hover the driver because it brings tension in to the swing, but with your irons, you say to hover the club......please explain Alex.
Yes i like a different approach depending on the club
This is my problem on every iron!
The lesson was good. Jack hovered his club head. The thumbnail however had nothing to do with the lesson.
👍👍

Hi Alex, Love your golf tips. I have subscribed to your channel but how do I get your tips sent to my email account?
I've used this drill if you will while playing! We called it the power Slot swing! 🐊🏌⛳️🦅🇺🇸
