The explanation of "dual" was perfect. I also assumed it was AFCI and GFCI. Now I know i need a dual function breaker. Saved me a bunch of time and expense. Thanks!!
Great explanation of the plug-on feature. I bought an HOM combination plug-on breaker, but took it back because I thought it was the QO type in the wrong package. I wish that I had watched your video first.
Love the video! On the SqD breakers, remember CAFI = white, GFI = yellow, Dual (CAFI+GFI) = purple. Of course, this is manufacturer specific. Do you know when the QO PON GFIs are coming out? There's a part number, QO120PGFI, and heard they are new for this year. However, I'm told they still aren't available. I have taken to typically wiring PON breakers before plugging them in the panel. It goes easier/faster to confirm the wire is fully in and well seated. It doesn't matter much for your blank dead panel here, but crowded live ones are a different matter. Of course, make sure breaker is OFF when putting it in the panel. Not sure why, but I used to have occasional problems with the PON breakers stripping the wire clamp head with both a robertson or a slotted bit while torqueing. However, since going to an ECX bit, life is fantastic there.
All the120v breakers in our new house are dual purpose afci/GFCI in the livable space. Even the refrigerator, microwave, and washer are. it's been a year and we have had no phantom trips
How timely! I needed one of these yesterday (well, I wanted the combo one), and it seems Home Depot doesn’t have any. Fortunately Amazon did, and they should be here today.
If your Home Depot is anything like mine it would be a great place to open a lumber and supply center. Since they already have shelving , check out registers all one has to do it put inventory on shelves and replace thae orange sign.
@@OriginalJetForMe Maybe I am a circuit breaker / Load center snob but I don't really care for the homeline series. I prefer Cutler Hammer ( Eaton CH ), Square D QO,, Siemens ( particularly the bolt in breakers ) GE powermark gold / powermark . Thank you for this video. Which Square D Homeline Panel would be suitable to replace an old Stab-Lok Circuit Panel with 125 amp max rating 24 spaces for breakers? Can you provide a link? The Square D Homeline Panel provided by your link is rated 225 amp is over-rated for my situation.
Excellent video, Bill. At a glance you can tell if a breaker is a GFCI if it has a Test/Reset button. This is true with all of the dual purpose breakers I have used in the past. I say "at a glance" because to your point when it comes down to it, you should know what you are installing as if your life depends on it. Keep me coming, Sparky! (Check your Yahoo! Mail)
Size issue is right on. ~2 1/4 inches for wires behind the breaker is just not workable for busy situations. SqD any answer with smaller breakers coming?

Exactly what I was looking for. Was confused about combination and dual function. I had actually ordered the wrong ones, thanks for the clarification
No problem, thanks!
Another great explaination. Note on older homes, have fun with the shared nuetrals when adding an Arc Fault breaker.
Yes, lots of fun!
have fun paying for a two pole AFCI.
Actually GE (now ABB) have CAFI breakers that can be used with circuits with shared neutrals.
Nice video, Bill! Very good explanation of the CAFI breaker.
Thanks Tim!

Yes, I was going to mention that but, as you say, it's manufacturer specific. No, I don't know when the QO plug-on

Great video as always . Very informative on the difference between CAFI breaker and combination AFCI / GFCI .
Thanks. I have found that there is some confusion between the 2 breaker types. Have a great day!
Excellently explained.
Thanks!
Very clear information.
Thank you.

@@vicktorpatriot1430 To be fair, they had them for the Homeline series, but I had put in a QO series sub panel in my garage.

Yes I confused Cafi plug on , not big tail
Are them the breakers that trip everytime you plug in a vaccum cleaner 🤣
That's be them all right
If so, then that circuit must be overloaded.

So if you don't tighten it to spec exactly it will not work like the one I just spent 65.00 bucks on?

Square D Homeline 20 Amp Single-Pole Plug-On Neutral Combination Arc Fault Circuit Breaker is $51.

Can you replace this breaker for a regular breaker
Yes

Homeline ad QO, breakers by Sq D. Are very good. But they are to big. I use Siemens brand.
Siemens are excellent.
Size issue is right on. ~2 1/4 inches for wires behind the breaker is just not workable for busy situations. SqD any answer with smaller breakers coming?
$240 for a torquing screwdriver? There has to be less expensive options.
Harbor Freight's Quinnn bramd has one rhat works great ans goes up to 50in-lbs. Anything over that gets to be quite expensive.
A regular torque wrench with a socket that accepts an Apex bit will work.
Uh sir, that is a qo not a homeline.
Well the one you plugged in at first few seconds of video is a qo. Not homeline.
It is a Square D Homeline HOM120PCAFIC
Wrong. It's Homeline. That's why the part number is HOM120PDF as it shows on the breaker in the video.
