Very nicely done! Especially liked the initial mounting walk-through on your 4 Runner.

Very nice! Good tent from the looks of it. Thank you for the video.

Great video. Thanks for making it. Looks like they made some improvements to this version of the tent as they did with the Stellar variant. Put in the vents, upgraded the bar and posts (looks the same from the videos I watched) as the new Stellar. Was going to go with the Stellar but I like the improvements to this one and the larger side windows to allow more airflow. So I might get this one instead.

Exactly how many inches thick is the Closed Shell - which would also include the TRACK that's welded on the bottom? Great video - Thank you!

Both the Galaxy and their newer Stellar tent are 8 inches total including the mounting track.

I have this exact tent. Just installed it on my Sherpa crestone with 1” risers. When driving it whistles. Did you have any noise with tent after install? And if so how did you fix it?

I put a 3 inch piece of black electrical tape over the first crossbar on my roof rack after the wind deflector. I think the tent pushes air down and it gets into the channels on the crossbar. I covered the front channel of the extruded aluminum crossbar as well as the top 2 channels and that fixed the whistling. And with the 3 inch black tape you never even know it’s there. It blends right in.

This was super helpful. Lots of important bits about installation with the roof rack. Thank you. How's it treating you so far?

It has been great. I did get a new fsr aircore mattress which is a nice upgrade. But otherwise love it.

Great review, I just ordered one! With a 1” Riser would you be able to reach in to install the nut on a bracket on one of the middle crossbars. I have a 4Runner with Sherpa Creststone, so similar setup. Thanks

I’m not sure on the Sherpa. You would not be able to do that on the prinsu rack. What some people do is install the crossbar on the tent first before putting it up on the roof rack. But that takes precise measuring. If you’re getting 1 inch risers from prints, I would suggest also getting four extra grade 8 bolts, washers and lock nuts from the hardware store so you can have two mounting points in each riser. Prinsu only provides 1 bolt for each riser

totally stoopid and subjective question, but are y'all able to get into the garage. I have a similar lift and rolling on 33s.

Where is your roof rack from?

I like the tent, everything about it except the shape of the tent is kind of different for me. I wish the other tents had a sunroof also, the same as this one.

How much does this tent affect fuel mileage at interstate speeds?

I just took a trip to Missouri with the wind. There was no effect on the way back against a pretty strong wind. I lost about a mile to a mile and a half per gallon from my best estimates.

Is it possible for someone who is 6 feet tall to sleep with their head towards the hard shell? Thanks

Question, do you think someone 6.5 could fit in one of these?

    • @destinationjourney_overland
      @destinationjourney_overland  6 місяців тому +1

It might be tight unless you lay a little diagonal. The mattress is about 79in and you are 77in. So you’re going to be going edge to edge.
