I metal detected my own property and had a sweet find! A 1987 penny coated with dirt and buildup from being buried underground for years! Buried an inch down. That’s a great find.
Not bad, I was metal detecting at a camp and found a 1965 Dime which was not to bad either
@@jaxonwhitaker4441 I found 22¢ in the Coinstar this week! good to Very Good both dimes are listed at 10¢ and I’m still waiting for PCSG to grade and slab the pennies.
A 1987 penny you think is a great find? Are you sure you meant 1987 not 1887?..A 1987 penny coin wise has no value other then 1 cent in a bubble gum machine. I also detect. I found a 1929 silver dollar 13 inches under ground using a Minelabs Excalibur 11 which is usually used for diving in deep water. I used the detector on an old abandoned hotel property in NewYork. The hotel named Nevele country club was open since 1901.
I can't wait for 150 years from now when two grown men are squealing over pennies
"Dude I think I see the memorial"
"No f*cking way dude"
"Oh. my. god. 1997"
"Find of a lifetime!!!"
Those little zinc coins will probably be super eroded by then
@@WatchmyPlaylist. Zinc coins just disintegrate.
@@WatchmyPlaylist. Yeah, I dug up a 2004 while metal detecting once and the edges just flaked right off... However 1982 and older and they prolly would be flipping their shit
Yeah...
How much are they worth, or is it a prestige thing.
Really enjoyed the very wholesome and friendly interaction you had with your bud after making a find.
That is so cool he got his bucket lister seated half, congratulations to him. Some cool finds yet again, thanks for taking us along. Please stay safe and well during this trying time. xx
Thanks Sue! Yeah stay safe out there! Thanks for stopping by
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting it's now June 2023 it's safe out there just a idiot running the country into the ground.
Zach, what a perfectly amazing day! Beautiful old silvers, that seated half is definitely the find of a lifetime! I love the old Palmolive token, too! Hope you are keeping happy and well!😊
Thanks Cynthia! Glad you could stop by and stay safe out there!
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting did you get permission from the property owners ?
When you rub coins covered with dirt , it's like rubbing it with sand paper. Coin collectors won't even rub a clean coin...just saying.
Y
G
I said the same thing. It's nonsense
Good point, just soak coin in water and air dry on rag or paper towel ,lots of good coins get ruined by rubbing dirt into coin and making scratches.
Reminds me of an old thumb joke. Guy having dinner in fancy restaurant, noticed that the waitress had her thumb in the soup, coffee, and mashed potatoes. "What is the matter with you and your thumb in all the hot foods"? "Well.Sir, the Dr. said I have arthritis there, and to keep it warm,at all times",she replied. "Well, stick your thumb up you azz", he says. "I DO, WHENEVER I AM IN THE KITCHEN", SHE SAYS!
My grandpa was born in 1898. Cool to see coins from around when he was born!
Be really cool to find Coins He dropped.
Go the his old homes.
Beg for permission.
That's awesome! I actually have an 1876CC half that's in about the same shape. Found it in a loose bag of half dollars from a bank. Nice score!
I know that you need to clean the coins but aren't you scratching the coin with the grit of the dirt. the first rule of coin collecting is not to clean the coins with abrasive.
I always hate when people rub the abrasive dirt on a things they find! Drives me nuts lol
Drives me just as crazy watching them play with the water bottle. To each their own..lol.
We are not anal about field checking. We don’t sell our finds. We dig in the dirt
@@martymartin8645 Yeah, I may kick myself in the butt one day if I come across a rare coin valued at $1milliion, but destroyed it completely by using Tarnex on so it would look brand spanking NEW again! Lol. I think of it this way, it's not like we're drilling holes through it like THEY did back in their day so not to lose them, and still lost them anythow. Besides, if Tarnex hurt the oxidation, I'll just shove it in a planter outside and let it oxidize on it's own once again! No big deal!
What’s the best way 2 clean in the field? Newb here. Gf just bought me a detector for Father’s Day gift. Any tips much appreciated! 👍🏻🙏🏻
I personally have found TWO CAPPED BUST HALVES. I still dont know HOW, but I did. Only been detecting for about 2 years!
Nice ! So Happy for u !
Sweet ! Haha!
Awesome hunt guy's! Congrats on the CC Seated half!! Lots of great silvers & IHP's! Good job. GL&HH!
In my opinion you guys definitely had a better spring break then the beach goers. Great hunt !
Thanks lol!
With my metal detector yesterday I found an 100 yen coin from Japan in my back yard plus two New Zealand coins ,some nails and a can
Where did you metal detect?
Emma Hutton I am assuming New Zealand
Where do you live? Pearl Harbor?
jessica cernoglo where on the planet, duh!
I would try that as well. But I live in Arizona. Where the water doesn't even go into the ground lmao.
Great day with a silver lining.
Amazing hunt guys & that half was insane! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thanks John! Glad you could stop by man!
Incredible finds for both of you! Congrats! What a BLESSED hunt!!
Thanks so much Tracy!!
Speechless! Excellent hunt, wow. Keep the luck streak rolling and thanks for posting videos.
Thanks so much!
Great finds guys! I would love for you all to go over the settings on the Equinox. I just purchased one a few months ago and am still trying to learn the machine. Thanks and keep swinging!
Great job guys...what an awesome day.
Can you imagine how many coins are underneath the asphalt?
jus mind the traffic!
Have to tell you that the thought bothers bottle diggers too! It's particularly frustrating when one knows an entire vintage dump is capped by a parking lot, or is off-limits to digging because a park with ball fields and etc. was built over the "reclaimed" land.
America has buried most of it's heritage and history under the asphalt.
Awesome finds guys. Come back up and I can help you find some yards in this small town. Been finding a few first for me the last few days. Was nice meeting you guys. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks Jason, was nice meeting you too!
I once had an opportunity to hunt an old zoo in Colorado and missed out on a beautiful Barber quarter. Another hunter went behind me and found it. A week later, Back in Michigan I found that exact same date coin in even better condition down town. Our ground is still frozen solid 5 inches down. Talk about messed up signals in frozen ground! That was amazing! I found 1864 coins in an area that should have never been. The railroad never went through the area till 1890's. Turned out it was a stage coach stop.
The 1876 Liberty Seated Half Dollar y'all found definitely has a Carson City mint mark on it. If you look really hard, you can barely see the second "C"
Smokes!!!!!!! Amazing find you guys are what keeps this hobby alive!!!! Nice job!!!!
Great finds guys thanks for sharing
Way to go guys great hunt! Congrats Garrett on your seated half! Glad there are some still out there to dig!

9:28 is what you're looking for
shhhh...don’t want the owner to find out it’s a good find.
Really good day of digging. Congrats on the bucket lister
Awesome seated half, I found my first one last year near a ghost town in utah, it was an 1863, then one month later I found another one near a different ghost town in utah 1871 it was an unreal coincidence and I don't know if I will ever find another but they are my favorite finds hands down!
No way! Awesome!
and how much are they worth? Are we even close to "half a day's pay" yet>??
Just amazing. Great video
Thanks man!
Good job dudes! Very entertaining!

Thanks man! I see you're not too far away!
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting Yep, my Niece is in Atch, Me closer to the Johnson, Douglass, Franklin and Miami counties...got about 1300 acres with lots to find west of Osawatomie.
love to watch coins come out thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mark!
the 1902 indian head cent looks like it may be the eye die gouge variety (1902 EYE GOUGE FS-401 1C MS
NGC Attribution: FS-401) I'm a coin collector if you have any questions about rarities, varieties.
I found a 1982 P quarter that looks off center struck and the mint looks as tho it has a different letter under the "P".. anything come to mind?
@@cimeverywhere7224 there are no repunched mintmark varieties for the 1982 P Quarter. Off center strike should not cause an extra letter, could just be die deterioration, that makes it look like a separate letter.
I can't think of a better way to spend the time when school is canceled! Congrats on some great finds and welcome to the seated half club! Another awesome video Zach. Best wishes and happy digging, Dave.
Thanks Dave! Never gets old seeing old silver come up!
I went ahead and just bought an xf+ 1857 seated half off ebay ,since I have detected for decades using 6 different machines, and never found even barber coins ,lol.
Nice hunt. Great half. Funny how we all get quiet and look around to see if the home owner is watching so we can take off with the find. Lol
Lol, thanks for stopping by!
Congrats on the amazing finds and hitting a bucket Lister

Thanks Ray!
Super Awesome!
Awesome!!
Thanks Eli!
Great day. congrats!
Great video awesome finds!
Thanks Kevin!
What is really cool is that the dime was found very near the Indian Head cent (probably lost together}. The cent is 1906 and in decent shape, the dime is 1877 and very worn. So, the dime, in only 30-35 years of circulation, got a lot of use. A work horse of monetary transactions when a dime could buy a lot back then.
Nice finds guys. Wish I knew all the lingo, minted, barber, seeded etc. Love seeing old things being dug up. Andy UK
Andy, I don't profess to be an expert, but when they say "minted", they're referring to the mint mark on the coin. There are several places around the nation where coins are struck, or as we say here, minted. Coins will bear a mark from which ever mint they were struck. The most desirable are the "O" (New Orleans) and the "CC" (Carson City, Nevada) because those mints no longer exist. If a coin bears no mint mark, it was struck in Philadelphia. When they refer to a seeded(they're actually saying "seated") coin, they're talking about the dimes and half dimes which were silver coins minted during the 1800's and so called because the figure on the obverse is sitting. Again, I'm no authority on the subject and I'm sure I left out some info but I hope that helps clear a thing or two up. I spent some years in your fair country, and my best find was a copper farthing from the 1600's that I found in the shingle at Dunwich Beach in Suffolk. Happy hunting and all the best.
Good video guys. This was my first time watching an American site.
I was sitting wondering what a 'Seeded' silver coin Was..!?
Seeing your Close up of it..! It Dawned on Me your saying 'Seated'. Yet another Accent Issue..!!
Thx for the Entertainment for a Socially Isolated Aussie (Oussie..!!)..!
