In 2023, Singapore saw an 11-year high in animal cruelty and welfare cases, according to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). A total of 915 cases were reported, with two main categories: abuse and cruelty, and welfare and neglect.
Around two-thirds of the cases fell under the welfare and neglect category, where pet owners failed to provide proper care and basic needs for their animals, resulting in poor living conditions. Some cases involved abandonment, hoarding, and incidents of pets falling from heights due to a lack of proper safety measures.
In response to these alarming statistics, the SPCA is advocating for legislative changes to strengthen animal protection in Singapore. These proposed changes include imposing tougher sentences for those convicted of animal cruelty, as well as introducing stricter penalties to address issues of neglect and welfare.

Seems like there’s no morals or empathy anymore...for anyone or anything.
Raising pets is more like raising kids....what kind of monster abandons them😢
😢 sad
Just terrible 😞
💔
Brought a kitten for an abusive girlfriend of mine and it ended up being stolen off me.
her heroin addicted mother barged into my house and stole the cat then lied to the police to get an intervention order placed on me so i had no way of getting him back without breaking the law😢.
Could have taken it further legally but decided against it because i believe karma always comes around in this world.
They know they dont care about the cat...
