I really enjoyed this video, thank you so much for sharing! I appreciated how clearly you've articulated and laid out the three pros and three cons of the cousin. I'm interested in picking it up again some time!

Hi! I really love the way your writing sort of ignores the grid. The problem I always have with Hobonichi's very narrow ruling is that writing on every line is too crowded, but writing on every OTHER line is too spaced out. You seem to have solved that by disregarding the grid and writing the way that feels good to you! Brilliant! 😊

Thank you! I really appreciate it! I totally agree, when I started using the journal I’d get a little stressed about writing super neatly and tinily within the grids but the key to enjoying the Hobonichi for myself is to not think too hard about the grids and focus on adding the lettering I like doing 👌🏼

This is definitely a video I have been looking for! I am using a Hobonichi Weeks for now but I know I may need to "level up" to a Cousin when I get more responsibilities.

I am actually going to be trying the weeks for the very first time next year! The cousin is definitely a behemoth and super comprehensive but I’m able to store my entire life in it. Hope the video helps you make your decision ☺️

Nice video. Concerning the price I agree that it is expensive. But since it replaces an additional notebook, I find that the price is faire. I am also at the end of my first year of using it and mostlikely will never go back.

I agree, it provides a lot of value with how many sections you can fill up. Will you be switching to something similar or a completely different journal?

@@penstopapers I wukk stay with Hobonichi Cousin. Using the weekly section as main planning tool and the daily section as catch-all. Each month assigned to a different theme. In addition I will start a Leuchtturm 1917 journal for "overflow". The Hobonichi is with me all the time. The Leuchtturm stays at home.

Just a heads up, the only pens to bleed through TR are alcohol based pens. And those suckers will bleed through EVERYTHING. I have only found one type of paper and that’s a Render sketchbook.

Thank you for the tip! I have definitely sacrificed some of my pages to alcohol based pens earlier on in the Hobonichi journey.

Kinbor is a good cheap alternative

I’ve seen it around this year on the internet! Have you used it? What has your experience with it been like if you have? I have a few friends who want to get into journaling and were interested in the Kinbor as an alternative.
